SummerSlam headed to Amway Arena in Orlando, likely using CGI fans
Per the various news sites, SummerSlam headed to Amway Arena in Orlando, likely using CGI fans

Watch them use the WWE Live entrance set.
|
KEY DEMO CGI FANS ONLY!!!111
|
Amway is dope, when I did the whole Orlando experience for Rasslemania they did NXT/HoF/Raw at the Amway and it was a really nice experience... no CGI fans though smh smh
|
Wonder if they will use a similar setup as what the NBA is doing since that's been working very well for them.
Also seems like a big mistake to start holding shows outside of their "bubble" since its not like the coronavirus situation in Florida has gotten that much better or safer. |
It's slightly a shame they didn't have enough time to do this for WM
|
Color me interested
|
nobody should be interested in cgi fans for anything unless its a sketch on tim & eric or something, just weird and awful
|
LOL no way Vince is spending tons of money on CGI. They will probably just do like baseball with cardboard standups.
Unlike baseball however, there is also no way Vince is spending even a little bit of money on cardboard standup with variety. He will probably get somebody to drive a Uhaul from the warehouse in CT lol. Here is your Summerslam crowd: https://shop.wwe.com/standees/ |
NHL has done very well with crowd noise in playoffs. They should learn from them.
|
So, Vince is going to rent an arena. Have Summerslam. Fancy set. Probably some pyro.
Zero fans. BUT, the possibility of carboard cutouts or CGI. Does any of this make sense? |

I doubt its going to cost much compared to normal for the stadium. It isn't like anyone else is attempting to utilize it.
|
Looks like it's gonna be big LED screens with fans appearing via webcam like the NBA has been doing...
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">As part of WWE’s new long term residency at the Amway Center, a new interactive experience will be introduced with over 2500 sq ft of LED boards, where fans will appear LIVE on the show, hosted by Superstars & Legends. Not sure what the "hosted by superstars & legends" part means

Wonder what they are going to do with the Retribution group since I doubt WWE is going to allow them to keep destroying things at a place WWE doesn't own. |
need owenbrown to be one of the fans in his favorite IIconics gear
|
9/10 chance WWE charges fans the same to be a 'digital crowd member' as they would to attend. People going to fork out like 2k to be 'ringside'

According to Spectrum Sports 360, city of Orlando is allowing WWE to stay at the venue till at least October 30th.

They should use cig fans.
Just fill 'er up with smokers. |
do you have to sign something that says you won't smoke weed and get naked to be on the LEDs? LEDEEZNUTS
|
if I get picked ill dig into the archives for lock jaw nation sign
|
gonna be some kind of record for the amount of neck beards on a television set at once.

So there’s gonna be thousands of wrestling fans sitting alone at home being broadcast live on the show?
Maybe just go dark during the womens matches. |
WELCOME TO THUNDERDOME
|
Guess someone in WWE must be a big fan of the Mad Max series since that was the name of the big cage in the second film.
|
Well, we all know the rules of Thunderdome. Right?
|
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Let's look live to the Amway Arena in Orlando for the making of the WWE Thunderdome <a href="https://t.co/gNk51yNSOs">pic.twitter.com/gNk51yNSOs</a></p>— Kris Zellner (@KrisZellner) <a href="https://twitter.com/KrisZellner/status/1295418794903470080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 17, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
|
I'm glad to hear the WWE is trying something new w/ Thunderdome but my gut instinct tells me it's just more opportunities for Kevin Dunn to cut camera shots every 3/4th of a second and shake the cameras incessantly.
|
You know somebody is gonna Hang Dong Thundergun style on their screens right?
|
According to reports, WWE is paying the arena around $450,000 for their upcoming two month stay.
Also seems WWE won't be able to tape on days other than Sunday, Monday, and Friday which is why NXT wasn't included for shows at the venue. |
WWE recently posted their rules regarding fans signing up to be shown during ThunderDome broadcasts.
Basically they are going to keep tabs at all times of everyone who sends in a cam stream and nothing lower than the midsection can be shown for obvious reasons. Quote:
|
I think that's so the fans can be placed in the "seats" and all look the same size... h8 in the NBA where there is always someone with their head right up to the webcam and their head looks huge in the "seat"
|
That as well to help make the crowd visuals look as normal or uniform as possible.
Kevin Dunn's twitchy fingers on production will actually be useful for once since the moment someone even tries to do anything that could result in a potential dick or boob flash, their cam feed is going to get cut just as fast as Dunn's cam cuts during regular matches. |

Say what you will, but pretty amazing feat of production to be putting this together so quick
|
I wonder if part of the new set was originally part of the Mania 36 set

|
So are they calling in thunderdome because it looks like a dystopian hellscape or is that just coincidental?
|
Is anyone else slightly annoyed by the clones? There's an entire row of the same person at the bottom.
|
Wish they would put them in "seats" like the NBA does without their own background... looks kinda like shit this way
This angle looks pretty cool though https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ef5c23SU...name=4096x4096 |

Yeah based on some of the photos and videos floating around, ThunderDome is going to be very hit-or-miss.
Some of the stuff shown with the crowd looks great like that first Ryan Satin photo but other stuff makes it look like it was lazily put together. |
Sounds like there's fake crowd noise pumped in... can't tell in this video if you can hear the actual "crowd" making any noise

sounds like i hear nothing but static and someone whistling. not sure how the fuck the soundguy is going to mix that many sources to come across well on tv, although i can't really even tell how many individual people are "there" due to the duplications
|
IDK what I think. I applaud them trying something new but I'm sort of worried the fans will be visually distracting...will need to see some of SD to decide....
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I like it! <br><br>What do you think? <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WWEThunderDome?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WWEThunderDome</a> <a href="https://t.co/dMxWm3uGGA">pic.twitter.com/dMxWm3uGGA</a></p>— ChanMan (@ChandranTheMan) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChandranTheMan/status/1296582356283699201?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
How long before someone changes their image to Chris Benoit?

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin, WWE will be issuing fines to fans who violate their rules for their new ThunderDome.
Not sure how that would even be enforceable since that's only really possible for people who actually work in the company. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">There are a lot of things you have to agree to saying you’re responsible for any fines they may incur if you act inappropriately. <a href="https://t.co/9puKEImOtM">https://t.co/9puKEImOtM</a></p>— Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) <a href="https://twitter.com/ryansatin/status/1296564181613780992?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">August 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
Satin: "As far as sound was concerned, it seemed like the crowd noises were still piped in audio and not genuine noise from the audience, but this was still just a test."
The main point of having a crowd is the noise, not seeing their dumb faces on screen imo... |
I had gotten the invite to be part of this test, however, I didn't check my email yesterday so there went that chance. Honestly, I think this is worse than no fans.
Problem I see is that the focal point of the product is what is going on in the ring. Normally, the crowd is distant in the background and only those in the first few rows really have anything to do with the product (i.e. outside of the ring action). Since the background is proportionally larger now, the crowd will no longer be as distant. Therefore, the focal point will change. It will be easy to be distracted by looking at the "fans" to see what ridiculousness is out there and not watching the product. They should just keep it the way it is. Limited staff at ringside to keep the idea of a crowd there until a normal audience is allowed. This is going to be a total stink bomb of an idea. |

I'll have to "see it in action" tomorrow but my first impression is that this looks terrible.
|
They should have just cgi'ed wwe 2k20 fans in like fox was doing with baseball games
|
fining fans for violating the rules of thunderdome?
https://memegenerator.net/img/instan...was-hacked.jpg |
Could be good or bad, but surely it's better than wrestling in an empty hall.
As for that guy who looks like he's holding a duck, that's most likely what this will be. A bunch of nerds and virgins trying to do anything to get themselves noticed. |
Although, in fairness that guy is probably just holding a dog or cat.
|
Looks cool w/o fans

Probably a combination of the set they had designed but didn't get using for mania and a shitload of screens. Be disappointing if no flashing occurs on the screens.
Apparently they're gonna have drones flying around as well, 0_o |
I'd turn it on to check it out but just remembered by TV box is still dead
|
According to a report from Inside The Ropes, WWE is currently working on plans to potentially hold tapings at different venues once their ThunderDome deal with the Amway Center expires.
May or may not include outdoor venues since that has also been something they've looked into for plans for some time. Quote:

Itd be funny they end up back at the PC
