Stranger Things (season 4)

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Robert Englund aka Victor Creel is a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s. <a href="https://t.co/QsuaGTVqDf">pic.twitter.com/QsuaGTVqDf</a></p>&mdash; Stranger Things (@Stranger_Things) <a href="https://twitter.com/Stranger_Things/status/1329818174209089536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

they also announced 7 more new characters but this was the coolest one to me!

Based on some things I've read about season 4, it's definitely going to be the biggest budget season yet (and not just because of the cast but the special effects).

At the end of season 3, The Byers moved out of Hawkins and Hopper was in a Russian prison, so I'm curious to see what happens there. There are seemingly a lot of new characters this season as the gang enters high school. Stranger Things social media have been heavily promoting something called "The Hellfire Club" too, which many seem to think is a D&D group of some kind.

Setting seems to be 1986 this time around.

Lengua 02-18-2022 05:42 AM

Is it going to be one long episode each or multiple episodes?

If multiple episodes I just don't see why they are making 2 parts that close together.

Edit: just scrolled up...duh.

Weird they are presenting this at 2 parts. I wonder of Netflix pushed for a date and they couldn't meet the target.

XL 02-18-2022 04:52 PM

Do they normally release the full season in one go? Guessing they weren’t gonna be in a position to release the full season.

drave 02-18-2022 05:07 PM

They did usually do the full season. Usually when a single series has two "parts" there is about a period of 3-6 months between them (see: The Walking Dead). Seems weird, but whatever I guess.

Maybe has something to do with Neflix subs being shit and getting people to re-sub across different months for content that can be binged in a single billing cycle?

I heard that the final episode of the season is pretty much a 2.5 hour movie

slik 05-20-2022 09:09 PM

Just read that too

Still kind of odd to drop 7 eps and then wait for the final 2 eps...but I am guessing episode 8 is rather long as well...also just read each episode has a 30 million dollar budget this season so me thinks we're getting a lot of crazy action and big budget stuff.

drave 05-21-2022 10:47 AM

slik 05-27-2022 05:01 PM

First two eps were really good, new character Eddie is going to be a viewer favorite for certain.

My early take on the big bad, Vecna, is he reminds me of Pinhead and Freddy Krueger. He seems pretty ruthless, which is a different kind of villain than the monsters they faced in the past.

slik 05-28-2022 03:40 AM

Just finished part 1/episode 7

No spoilers from me -- The finale is INSANE (I skipped some of the Russia stuff bc I was bored with it tbh). We finally get some answers about things. Episode 4 also has a really good ending.

One shouldn't be too much of a spoiler. 008 and her unique power but I bet

001
has it, too based on a few scenes. Lotta fan theory about that one. I heard they kinda retconned the comics about unique powers.

Another one was El with her limited English. Probably trauma from a new scene and the power it took.

The group with Lucas is the most interesting, I wasn't super invested into the other storylines but none were bad aside from the highschool bully part.

Damian Rey 2.0 06-07-2022 12:33 PM

Damn bummed I gotta wait till next month. Loved the villain’s origin. Makes a ton of sense. Honestly I like all the stories going on, with the bully one more likely being the least interesting to me simply because the El storyline picked up and gave us a huge reveal.

Can’t wait for the rematch.

Part of me is excited for a fifth season but part of is wanting the story to be over already and given what’s been revealed to this point I’m not sure where they could go with a fifth season.

Lock Jaw 06-15-2022 08:25 PM

I think the "upside-down" will get "rehabbed".... like maybe it was an ok place and Mind-Flayer was pretty chill until Vecna got there and "corrupted" everything....

Big Vic 06-16-2022 09:30 AM

probably a time of peace with the time jump and then the Russians accidentally release the Upside Down creatures into the real world ala Stephen King's Mist.

The Upside Down's crazy timeline could be used to justify a time jump somehow.

rez 06-17-2022 02:47 AM

I think we'll get a D&D inspired boss way more powerful than both The Mind Flayer and Vecna. One or the other would be the SK's Man in Black to the Crimson King

That was amazing. Epic and Emotional. Wait until you see how it ends.

My guesses for the final season now:

SPOILER: show

Vickie and Mike/Nancy's mom will join the main character list.

That Army guy will still be after 11.

We'll finally find out why the upside down looked like Hawkins
AND
Why the UD is stuck on the day Will got there (my guess is those two things are related)

Based on the ending with the Upside Down starting to transform Hawkins....I can't even imagine the budget for season 5

slik 07-01-2022 08:30 PM

Other guesses for Season 5:

SPOILER: show

Perhaps Russia sends Dmitri/Yuri to help out in Hawkins as well

Maybe Victor Creel appears again

Also re-looking a the poster for the season

SPOILER: show
I thought it was 4 sections because it was the 4th season...but now we know it's divided into because 4 murders and 4 gates to let the Upside Down into Hawkins once and for all

https://i.postimg.cc/mDC8yG4q/4.jpg

Frank Drebin 07-02-2022 03:38 PM

Meh.

SPOILER: show
The only one who bit the dust was a guy that appeared for the first time this season?? If it wasn't for the shape Hawkins is in there would have been zero consequences.

I dunno. There was alot of filler this season. Anything Russia or 11 losing and trying to get her powers back. What was that....2/3 or 3/4 of the season?

Oh, 11 can bring people back from the dead. Great. Glad her powers are constantly evolving and changing like it's being dictated by Eric Cartman. I hate when a show/movie either can't establish its own rules or chooses when to play by them.

God damn that last fight took forever. So much yammering. It was like a DBZ fight with lots of people just standing around with their mouths open for episodes at a time.

This is as cookie cutter as this genre can get. I'll watch the last season even though I'm sure they'll stretch it out as long as they can with a couple of rushed deaths of tertiary characters sprinkled in (Murray, the Russian guys and another red shirt who will take the place of Eddie - don't worry it won't be any of the "kids" so they can create spin offs depending on what test audiences react best to) and it will be about as fulfilling as my last trip to McDonald's.
