Haven't watched NXT in months but this card looks good.

Q: Do people actually buy Kyle O'Reilly as a singles main event star?

I mean, it is NXT so probably yeah if there are fans they would love it.

Seems to me like all the Undisputed Era guys really only had value together as a group.... now the group has come and gone and never even got their time to shine on the main roster....

I don't think of him as a singles guy, but I've not seen any of his run outside of the group.

Solid in-ring competitor, not so great on the mic.

He surprised me when he fought Aleister Black in NXT. That was a stiff match.

Ember Moon had the perfect presentation, look, gear, music, and now it is all fucked up. It's like they had Kane first and decided to change him to Isaac Yankem instead.

Eli Drake is in nxt huh? I remember Noid hating that guy. Has he been any good there?

Yeah, it's fine. He's pretty established now after basically being plucked from obscurity to challenge Balor the first time. They had a great match and the rematch was even better. And obviously breaking up the top faction in NXT is a main event storyline. Cole, Strong, O'Reilly are all just fine as singles wrestlers.

Cuts a shouty, arrogant promo; average in the ring so far. He and Grimes have cut some good promos together though.

The (relatively) new NXT logo is atrocious.

They almost certainly wouldn't have shined on the main roster so no real loss.

Would have shined for like maybe a month tops I think. Which is longer than I can say for as singles dudes

I love Cameron Grimes, he has come so far in the last few months with this gimmick. He is so damn entertaining.

Too bad if he ever makes the main roster he'll end up stuck in a comedy tag team with Otis probably.

Weird thing about watching NXT shows now is I can’t really say “when so and so is called up”. They barely called anyone up in the past year, Damien Priest being the main exception.

It feels less like developmental and has for a while. The guys truly “in development” are working at the PC but not often on TV.

Bronson Reed is pretty good.

His ladder match vs. L.A. Knight for the Million Dollar Championship is honestly the only match on the card I care about. Like, I'm sure the rest will be good enough, but MEH.

That was kinda anticlimactic.

Is it me or does Martinez look really awkward when she bounces off the ropes? Looks like she has trouble judging when to bounce and come back off the ropes.

Happy for Mei Ying (the former Karen Q). Saw her wrestle on the northeast indies a bunch before she went to ROH/NXT.

She's been out of action for almost 2 years. I bet she's glad to finally be back in the mix.

I have a feeling Grimes is gonna be a star one day. He just has it.

Surprised the ladders aren't gold foiled and over bedazzled in this match. Missed opportunity.

Love a good monster champion. Kross doesnt do a lot, but he doesnt need to do a lot.

Fun main. Kross generally bores me and is the main reason I’ve not watched NXT much lately but they weren’t taking the belt off of him unless Vince was ready to bring him to Raw and fuck him up in short order.

Regal teasing stepping down as GM. Not the first time he’s done that, we’ll see.

Will watch later but scrolling thru comments -- always see people say they think Grimes will be a star and I haven't seen much of him in-ring but his look will hurt him. Vince likes people to be either super in-shape or super fat and Grimes is sort in between those two things, visually, so that could hurt him and he'd be probably be safest in NXT versus RAW or SD.

Knew Knight was going to win the moment I saw his trunks

So I decided to watch the NXT press conference, and I swear Grimes called Raquel Gonzalez "Big Tits". Her face afterwards, she wasnt even sure what he said. Laughing my ass off right now.

Fun show even without knowing any of the storylines. Main event was chaos and I loved it.

Part of the thing with Grimes is his hairy, dumpy look always actually *worked* for him as opposed to ROH era Kevin Steen who looked like a random fan hopped the guardrail. In short; it was the same thing, but Grimes looks categorically less like a generic everyman than Owens. However, the meta issue of the GameStonks gave him a much needed gimmick for WWE's sake, which makes that look kinda unneccessary. We'll see if he gets the "Kassius Ohno treatment" in time.

She stood out to me from day one, as she's built like a legit ass kicker.

He's talented, but he still reeks of "Knockoff Rock" with his promo tone and inflection and insistence in shoving in a bunch of catchprhases. Take a shot everytime he says the following: lemmie talk to ya, undeniable kevorka, perpetual motion machine, dummy, yeah!, do you know why?, It's LA Knight's game, and him saying his name while he does the pointing thing (plus a couple of others that I've probably missed). Seriously, you could write all those things on index cards and make nearly every Eli Drake promo ever madlibs style.

If he knocks that shit off, he might have a chance... but then he fell into the patented WWE Random Name Generator and got this generic shit that's actually worse than what he used. Made funnier that his gear like his jacket still has the stylized "ED" all on it. LA Knight sounds like when you have to create a character to start playing a game, but you're in a hurry and just want to start playing, so you put together some bullshit from stuff you've seen around the room like in Usual Suspects.

Regal retiring?

Reed/MSK vs. Legado del Fantasma was pretty good. I think Escobar is one of the best going right now. Definitely understand Reed having the belt, but Escobar could carry any of the belts in NXT convincingly.

Still don't care about any of this Xia Li stuff.

This Million Dollar ladder match REALLY needs Nikolai Volkoff, the 123 Kid, and Tatanka in the Corporation to put over the In Your House-ness of this.

Good ladder match, some really intense spots. Thought Grimes was winning for sure though. I'm impressed how over he is. Also, how great would Drip King Santos Escobar look with the Million Dollar championship?

Raquel / Ember seemed like a filler defense to me, basically a squash.

Five way match was lots of fun. Felt like none of the challengers were going to take it off Kross this soon though.

grimes is over? there were like 75 people in that place. he's a pretty shit face, if that even what he is right now.

Looks like Samoa Joe is replacing Regal

Given that the context was that there was so much bedlam backstage, maybe Joe is coming in as Regal's self-appointed "enforcer" or something.

Whatever he's doing I have to imagine he'll be wrestling before long. He's gone on about how much he wants to get back into the ring and with his release he had plenty of places he could've wrestled. Can't imagine he'd have re-signed with the E unless they promised him he could resume his in-ring career.

I don't get Kross' appeal or presentation.

For some fans, we like rage monsters who actually look like they can beat the shit out of other people. Yes it is a throwback to yesteryear, but it still works.

Wasn't crazy about either women's match. Boa guy at ringside is cute tho.

Main-Event was that same Bucks/Omega overbooked style I am not a fan of. I do like Kross though, great look for a heel.

Bronson Reed is good. Beth Phoenix is still horrendous on commentary. Todd Pettingill parts were annoying. Six-Man tag was probably the best thing on the show for me. Couldn't get into the ladder match bc I felt like both guys would go nowhere on the main roster and would have totally different gimmicks than they do now so it was hard for me to invest in it.

Big fan of Santos Escobar. Just want that on the record.

Its still odd to me that Renee Young got so much backlash for commentary but Beth gets a pass. I guess Beth's earned respect as a wrestler bought her more goodwill, but I always thought Renee was significantly better and got an undeserved critique.

Renee was significantly better than Beth and I actually enjoyed Renee's commentary in NXT when she did it with (IIRC) Tom Phillips.

The ladder match dis-invest isn't anything the two guys in it did wrong for me, they both did fine. I've just got burned too many times investing in wrestlers in NXT and then watching RAW/SD abandon whatever made those wrestlers interesting and for some reason both those guys ticked that box for me, IDK why.


It'd probably be amazing if we could just ship the Bucks/Omega/Adam Cole/Gargano/O'Reilly off into their own fed far away from both NXT and AEW.

He's not particularly endearing nor does he leave a lasting impression.

NXT commentary team is one of the main reasons I can't watch it anymore

Vic Joseph is unbearable... his voice fucks up my head... and just says "OOOH!!!" after every single move... like 6,000 times per show... can't handle it

And Beth Phoenix is even worse than him

Lemme talk to ya...

I've said this before with Ryback, and I'll say it with Eli Drake/LA Knight. If you're gonna rip someone off, rip off someone who actually made money in this business. Dude has a charisma to him and a look. That's pretty much 4/5s of what you need to be a star in this business. And there is absolutely no reason a guy who looks like Knight should be putting over a guy who looks like Steampunk Jimmy Garvin. Which is unfair... to Jimmy Garvin. Garvin at least was in shape and had a cool presentation to him when he was with Precious. One of them is a fun character that the IWC will like and be mad when he doesn't move beyond his station. LA Knight is the kind of guy the IWC will hate but will be having matches with named talent.

As for Karrion Kross. I say let him have his moment now. But there is a reason why I say that any picture of him with Scarlett features "The biggest star in NXT, alongside the NXT Champion."

Can we send Ciampa, PAC, Aleister Black, Ricochet and Will Ospreay to this new fed too?

Yeah I never bought into the hype with Kross. Decent wrestler but that's about it.

All about Scarlett though.

At times, he was struggling to keep up with the other wrestlers in the main event.
