Alright folks we haven’t had a good game thread on here since the Better Wrestler series was discontinued (thanks a lot Destor). So what we’re gonna do here is every week we’re going to have a wrestling specific category and I’m going to ask for your top 10 names for that category. You’ll give me your Top Ten nominations unranked and in no particular order. We’ll compile the lists and come up with “TPWW’S TOP TEN” for the week. One nomination equals one point. Top Ten nominees win.

That list is mostly shit, but I may give Miz some credit. The Miz actually has been incredible on the mic. It's hard to deny that. Punk was ok. Jericho was ok. Angle was great but tbh, I would actually put Miz over them. He's actually been consistently great in a era that is consistently terrible. LOL

i love better wrestler but booking it effectively requires REALLY knowin the boards taste. takes a ton of effort to not have 50 million guys in the hall...gotta protect the title or it doesnt mean anything...just look at better tag team...trash...

Interesting to see Randy Savage on here so much. I've never thought of Randy as a "promo" guy.

I'm surprised only Vito and I picked Roberts. I figured he'd be a shoe in for everyone's lists.

I thought about it, until I remembered his wrestlemania 9 commentary.

My list is in alphabetical order but Savage was my 10th one on and I was considering like 5 other guys in that spot. Tough call.

I struggled for a second between him and Heyman for the last spot.

It's weird that so many wrestlers who were great at promos completely suck in commentary.

Randy Savage on promos is just a slightly more coherent Ultimate Warrior

I thought Jim Cornette would be appearing on more’s list, considering he actually drew money with his mouth, and even currently hosts podcasts that, in a week, are probably listened to by as many people as watch AEW.

Chris Jericho is the name popping up that surprises me. Like, he’s not bad. It’s not that he’s bad or anything, but top ten ALL TIME?

I included both Savage and Warrior on my list because... I can actually remember them. Others might be better talkers like Jake and Piper, but... overall I don't really remember what they have said... 1

I loved Ultimate Warrior and thinks he gets far too much crap

Same energy but far greater content and delivery.

There’s a promo Macho Man does where he says he has a new pair of pink boots on and he’s going to kick out somebody’s Cadillac window.

Great shit man.

Rowdy Roddy Piper is so overrated it’s not even remotely understandable to me.

I really don’t get the love.

Ah fuck I just realised David Schultz should have been in my list.

He bored me as a kid with all of that archaic language he used.
He sounded like a religious education teacher.

He has a unique style, but most of his promos don't actually say anything and come off as a bunch of rambling nonsense to me.

Piper pre WM3 is fantastic.

Piper post WM3 is one of the most unwatchable wrestlers around besides the Bret feud in 92.

Jake was great for sure but his best promos are all similar, even if they are great the lack of diversity keeps him off my list.

Piper said something that confused me as kid so much that it still plagues my mind to this day. "AND IM A LESBIAN". was Piper confused? I am.

Vince probably should have made my list but it's okay to leave him off, he has delivered a lot of bad segments in his time.

Macho and Warrior are in a similar position for me, awesome but incoherent.

Jericho is a shoe in, he constantly gets better and is still topping himself in AEW. His face turn promo earlier this year had me marking out like it was 98.

I almost out Cena on my list because he out promoed The Rock in their program but he has too many cookie cutter be promos for my taste.

You know what would be better? A Top Talkers series of threads where a top talker gets discussed, their stuff shared, business metrics can be discussed, and people can share their thoughts and memories of the talker.

I think Bray Wyatt, purely as a talker and especially for his era, is fucking incredible. I just couldn’t consider him for the top 10 because the lack of longevity and the lack of impact that the era has afforded his promos.

Rock should be lower. He's great, no doubt, but a lot of his promos were just repeating the same catch phrases. Feel like there were other people who were better at grabbing people's emotions and selling the audience on whatever feud they were in.

Pretty shit list, to be honest. TPWW sucks when it comes to having good opinions. There are better promos who have legitimately made money that have been left off this list. How the fuck is Jericho better than Dusty Rhodes?

If people are being sticklers for the wording though, Rock could definitely be considered one of the greatest talkers but not nearly top 10 at cutting a promo.

Because this isn't an "objective" list, and most people here probably haven't seen too much Dusty?

We kinda take “Austin 3:16” as just a simple catchphrase that caught on nowadays but saying “Talk about your Psalms, talk about your John 3:16. Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass.” to a guy with a “reborn Christian” gimmick is so fucking good. What other catchphrase can be pinpointed to a specific promo? And then he was able to evolve from that. I couldn’t have been mad if Austin had won this.

For those of you wondering, 60% of Noid’s nominations made the final Top Ten which he calls a “pretty shit list”

Noid doesn’t hate wrestling, he just hates himself.
