I kinda of wish the show was two hours but regardless I'm looking forward to it. Just want to point out that just after the Feugo Del Sol vs Miro TNT Championship match was announced on Dynamite that they had Dark/Elevation results in a scroll at the bottom of the screen which said that Feugo Del Sol had lost his match that week. So the guy loses a match on the job show and then gets a TNT Championship match on the debut of the new major show? Stupid, why isn't Miro facing someone that anyone gives a shit about?

slik 08-13-2021 08:11 PM

Looking forward to this

Supreme Olajuwon 08-13-2021 08:42 PM

Should make a weekly Friday wrestling mega thread. Smackdown into Rampage. They’re not enemies, they’re symbiotic.

GD 08-13-2021 08:45 PM

Interesting development on Smackdown

SPOILER: show

Shinsuke Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship.

It’s an open challenge so whoever answers the bell gets the shot. The show is only an hour, and has two bigger headline matches booked, so a shorter match meant to feature one their main event player works fine. Del Sol is somehow over, so getting him TV time is a good thing, and feeding him to Miro is even better. And they don’t seem to have anybody built up enough to realistically challenge Miro yet and are probably saving that for the PPV. I wouldn’t be stunned if we find out what direction Miro is headed for All Out.

I could honestly see them saving him for Danielson. Don’t know if or how much they mixed it up in WWE, and that’s a big time program for a belt they obvs present as close to equal to their World title.

I’m A ok seeing Miro feast on a jobber.

I respect and understand your opinion but let me tell you why you're wrong. Miro wasn't a planned hiring, nobody saw that coming and when he debuted they really had no plan for him. So for months Miro toiled alongside Kip Sabian, who is terrible. Working a terrible best man gimmick that attempted to convince us that Sabian was a star but he's not. Sabian is a poor mans Zack Sabre and I mean not even qualified for unemployment benefits poor.

Sure AEW has done a decent job of rehabilitating Miro and have allowed him to channel his inner Bolo Yeung at times, but still he's not being used to his maximum potential. His feud with Best Friends is the most notable thing that he's done in AEW and that's why he should probably be wrestling Orange Cassidy tonight or even Chuck Taylor or Wheeler Yuta. Now, maybe they've had a blow off for that feud but honestly I don't remember if they did and if they did it probably wasn't that memorable because I don't remember.

I think it's time to make some actual stars that can pop a rating when AEW has to go head to head with The Challenge and in my opinion putting Miro over tiny little flip floppers is just telling us something we already know and can see by looking at the man, he's a beast. Why not have him working a program with someone who is actually exceptional in the ring? One of my issues with AEW is that in protecting certain guys they are having to pull their punches on a lot of TV matches and give us "highly contested squash matches". Let's not pretend that Feugo has any business in the ring with Miro.

Miro has a multitude of guys he can work great programs with from Darby, Death Triangle, Kingston, Archer, OC, Andrade, Cody and more. Let's get some good shit moving for Miro, I feel like we've been pulling punches the whole time TONY (if you're reading).

Damian Rey 2.0 08-13-2021 09:31 PM

It’s a one hour show, they have two other matches booked, and they don’t Miro to go out there and have a barn burner to get him over our showcase him. That’s all this match is. Just a showcase for Miro. I agree the pairing with Sabian was the shits and the payoff to that was the arcade match thankfully.

I would be floored if they weren’t preparing a bigger match for Miro at the PPV. Having a showcase match to destroy people is a formula that got him over the first time in WWE and it’s getting him over now. He doesn’t need a big match every time out. It’s ok to feed popular jobbers to him while you save the big matches for bigger shows that aren’t already headlines or a PPV.

xrodmuc316 08-13-2021 09:38 PM

Christian getting the strap tonight.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-13-2021 09:38 PM

I will watch Miro squashes all day everyday. Also, we are not making anywhere near a big enough deal that Miro is cutting one of the best promos in the business in his second fucking language. Put Miro on my screen and I’m watching. Period.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-13-2021 09:44 PM

Let’s also not forget how shredded he’s looking. Had a bruiser type of body when he debuted and now he looks like a star and wrestled like one. Ever since they moved him away from Sabian he’s been booked perfectly.

FEED ME

Triple A 08-13-2021 09:57 PM

Let's go.......

slik 08-13-2021 09:57 PM

k I am ready!

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:01 PM

Interested to see how this commentary team goes

slik 08-13-2021 10:01 PM

Hot crowd

slik 08-13-2021 10:02 PM

damn...no cape for christian

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:02 PM

Mark Henry (probably) clapping into the mic...

rez 08-13-2021 10:02 PM

surprised they're opening with this

Sepholio 08-13-2021 10:03 PM

Opening with the title match. Normally I hate when the main event goes on first but this being the first Rampage means I'll allow it. Great way to start a new series.

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:03 PM

damn thought they said they were gonna have graphics on the ring mat for Rampage...

BigCrippyZ 08-13-2021 10:03 PM

Let’s do this. Can’t wait to hear next week’s crowd already, just based on this week alone.

slik 08-13-2021 10:04 PM

Dasha doing ring announcing instead of Justin Roberts

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:04 PM

I feel like this four man announce team is major overkill.

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:05 PM

Pittsburgh crowds have been great

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:05 PM

4 man announce team is always overkill, nevermind for a 1 hour show

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:06 PM

Damn... no Don Callis on commentary... the greatest commentator in the game

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:07 PM

Don't like Taz on commentary tbh... sensing Mark Henry will be pretty bad... should just be Excalibur and Jericho

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:07 PM

They really didn't need Jericho on commentary.

GD 08-13-2021 10:07 PM

I thought they didn't mention WWE on AEW programming.

I'm enjoying Henry's voice, so far. Just a different sound. Also I like the way he talks/his accent.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-13-2021 10:08 PM

Too big a booth but man this crowd is fucking hot

He’s very silky. Should do asmr.

slik 08-13-2021 10:09 PM

Wish Paul Wight would come out and chokeslam Christian rn and make this a triple threat and win the Impact title

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:09 PM

With four announcers there's always someone trying to speak at every single point. Part of being a good announcer is letting certain moments speak for themselves

They're treating it as if they're on the radio and are desperate to avoid any dead air.

Sepholio 08-13-2021 10:10 PM

Always loved the unprettier but it's such an odd move to set up.

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:10 PM

Very curious how this goes, re: if they'll wrestle again at All Out or if there will be shenanigans

Yeah feel like the commentary has been very distracting so far

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:12 PM

I wish there was a 2nd hour that would go live on Youtube after the show or even before Rampage started. Just been so long since I've seen a one hour show it feels weird.

Sepholio 08-13-2021 10:13 PM

Also agree that a 4 man announce team is massive overkill. I could see it for a major show maybe. But not a 1hr weekly show. 2 guys is all they need. Wight and either Jericho or Excalibur. Henry wouldn't be terrible as a choice either.

Hope AEW steals Heyman away one day and makes him a commentator. Would love having him be the heel guy in the booth every week.

GD 08-13-2021 10:15 PM

Mark Henry fucking legend!

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:15 PM

I hope someone in the back kills the announcers’ mics when Cult of Personality hits next week. THAT is a moment that will need to breathe.

I don't disagree. Maybe have some slightly edgier content on that show or something. Definitely run it after though. Don't want that running head to head with hour 2 of SD.

Edit: by edgier I mean things like no restriction on the number of curse words so you know who can finally get it on the action again and say the word he's been itching to say forever. Little bit of blood and stuff. Nothing wild or anything.

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:16 PM

To me it's Jericho that just talks way too much. The other three are much better.

GD 08-13-2021 10:16 PM

Wish Rampage's presentation was different than Dynamite.

slik 08-13-2021 10:17 PM

RAMPAGE trending above SMACKDOWN on Twitter

slik 08-13-2021 10:17 PM

If Cody was in this match he'd be bleeding buckets by now

Damian Rey 2.0 08-13-2021 10:17 PM

This is a good match. Crowd big time behind Christian.

slik 08-13-2021 10:17 PM

Hope Lock Jaw wears a cape when he reads this thread

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:18 PM

There is a lot going on here for a match they're supposed to run back in three weeks...

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:19 PM

GD 08-13-2021 10:21 PM

Holy shit! Christian is champion

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:22 PM

Good way to get the belt off Omega

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:22 PM

Can't say I would complain to see that match at All Out now. I'm down.

rez 08-13-2021 10:22 PM

keep meaning to ask this. why are there two impact titles?

Triple A 08-13-2021 10:23 PM

Glad the crowd is behind Christian after he was put in such an awkward position... worked out pretty well

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:23 PM

That was a fantastic match.

Kenny definitely dropping the Mega title tomorrow too. He’ll be desperately clinging to one title by Wednesday.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-13-2021 10:23 PM

And they gave Omega an out not losing clean. How do we feel about Omega losing on TV after being unstable the last year?

slik 08-13-2021 10:23 PM

Why does Impact have two belts?

Fun opening match

Impact World Championship and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Moose brought back the TNA title, then he wrestled the Impact Champion at the time, Rich Swann, in a unification match... Rich Swann won and unified the titles, but they kept both belts... then Omega beat Swann

Jordan 08-13-2021 10:24 PM

Impact is sure getting a hell of a deal out of the AEW relationship.

It was a great match, made Christian look strong and to me didn't damage Kenny so I'm cool with it.

GD 08-13-2021 10:25 PM

For those keeping score, this is Christian's first reign as Impact World Champion. He's a former 2-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

Evil Vito 08-13-2021 10:29 PM

I was unsure about the idea of doing two Omega/Christian matches so close to each other but now I’m totally down for it. Their second match is bound to have a bunch of callbacks to this one.
