I'm not into Best Friends, the women's 6-man, or Varsity Blondes. But I do love Mox and I love Christian Cage, hopefully he wrestles in a turtleneck. Brody King vs Darby Allin should be really good.

* Best Friends against Mox & Yuta should bite. Trent is the most talented guy in there, but he’s so goofy and mid-card at this point. Wasn’t he teaming with Rocky Romero a few weeks back? At least Orange Cassidy & Trent would be an “over” team in the wrong way with this audience. No drama in the outcome here. Moxley is AEW Champ.
* The six-woman tag lacks any drama. The face girls are there to be chum for Jade’s streak. The Baddies will win and then there will probably be some angle to set up Jade vs. Athena. There’s no charisma in Athena. Their women’s division is horrible. * They’ve somehow taken my interest in Brian Pillman, Jr. and reversed it. AEW fans defend it by saying that BPJ is not that good, but it’s AEW’s booking. He’s a guy that needs to be in a different promotion. Christian is amazing, but it’s jumped the shark into MJF wannabe territory. No drama as to the outcome, unless Matt Hardy and/or Jungle Boy fuck over Christian in his first match, which would be LolAEW. * Brody King sucks. Darby Allin was a guy that I would admit AEW did pretty well with booking up very consistently a few months ago. They’ve lost their teeth on that one. This doesn’t matter. * Jericho is a hack now. Wtf is this gimmick? The violence will probably sadly attract white men in that 18-49 demo, which Meltzer will use to say that AEW is in touch. It would be fitting if no one gave a shit about this shit though. |
Their special event branding still gives them a little boost, but there does seem to be diminishing returns. Dynamite didn’t crack 1 million last week and I don’t think Rampage got much out of it. This show suffers from a big thing that Rampage suffers from too — very obvious outcomes without the good booking to make those outcomes feel particularly earned.
It should crack 1 million with the violent gimmick and Mox wrestling, but it’s not because they’ve figured their own product out. |

No, but it’s a ratings grab. They’re going to tarnish their own gimmick there though. A regular Dynamite did better than FyterFest following it.

I don't like it either OC! Doesn't make any sense! Mox is the Champ, bro. Why the fuck is he tagging up against Best Friends with his little buddy Wheeler for? I do get wanting to have Mox wrestle every week. He probably wants to, and I love it. But even still without doing rematches there are so many matches they could have that would be interesting and either help build up Mox in non-title matches or to have more high stakes tag matches for his exhibitions. This match vs best friends just makes no sense. Unless for whatever reason they are booking a TV Championship match with Moxley against OC, which okay if that's what they are doing but come on please don't do that. |

The best thing for ME is that Trent goes against his Best Friends and falls full on into whatever his Japanese thing is called and just lead heel with that group on NJPW USA or whatever it's called. Trent can get a deserved chance to have a spot similar to Shawn Spears when he was against Cody or just aligned with The Pinnacle. Give him a chance see if it catches (it won't) but try it.
