This is actually a really good match. One of the best performances I've seen from Anderson in a WWE ring.

He definitely has something, but personally, his gimmick grew stale ages ago. He has the potential to be really damn good (longevity wise), let's see what happens.

I think it’s a deliberate ploy. There wasn’t any room for Theory to cash in on a main eventer and succeed. You could have had him use it in NXT, lose the briefcase or sell it to someone, but I think they’re playing with the meta of how people think about Austin Theory. The internet is self-destructing over how talented and misused he is now.

Yeah…but I’m not talking about him cashing in and losing — I’m talking about him losing the briefcase before he fails to cash it in, like Otis or Kennedy. I didn’t forget about Damien Sandow, but I’ve got no clue why you’re bringing him up.

Theory could have been targeted by Sami Zayn, looking to get the briefcase out of play for Roman. Could have added a new tool to play with in The Bloodline storyline.

JBL could have paid Theory for the shot. Corbin could have then cashed it in and lost (again).

You didn’t have to have him cash in and lose himself. But I guess the point is to have him do something stupid on purpose, and it’s pretty clear they want the briefcase out of play.

Should have taken the shot on Bron and won so they could bring Bron up to the main roster instead.

Or hell, like Noid said, sell it to someone. Cameron Grimes maybe, and have him cash in on Bron instead. Then again Cameron is rumored for the main roster as well so I wouldn't be surprised if he comes up and joins JBL/Corbin at this point either. Seems like that would be a good fit for him.

The way it actually happened makes more sense than some of the sensationalist respones I read made it seem. But there was a window to make something more out of it and still use Theory the same way.

I’d have been down for him as NXT Champion. I’ve liked the idea of putting him together with Alpha Academy officially and putting Mandy Rose in the group too. You could have them dominate NXT. Eventually Theory starts smooching up to Mandy and Otis gets jealous. You also have the thing where Theory cashed in MITB successfully whereas Otis didn’t.

Throw Damon Kemp or a heel Apollo Crews into the Academy and you could have built to a War Games between them and Bron Breakker, Wes Lee & The Creeds.

I just think it’s funny he used his contract to challenge for a title on a guy who was currently issuing open challenges for his title.

That part was stupid. Should have just been a scheduled match.

Well I think the idea was that he is cashing it in after the champ was beat up and vulnerable, at a time where, theoretically, the champ would not be accepting open challenges.

Except he’s actually super Babyface, and I think it would probably feel not right to change that on the main roster. He turned down Joe Gacy and his little Dad cult group, which now includes The Rock’s daughter (forgot her ring name), and has always respected those who respect him despite his wealth.

Anyway, I kinda think keeping him in NXT would be the right call for now. Let the poor guy have at least a transitional NXT Championship run as a thank you, then call him up.
