* Great choice to headline a show with an old champion from another company against an old guy from another different company. It’s called variety, Triple H! If WWE didn’t suck so badly, maybe the best promotions in the world would want to work with them.

* Glad they got rid of that pussy bitch Thunder Rosa. No time for bullies and she bullied that entire roster to the point she stopped showing up. What a petty mark for herself.

* So glad Tony Khan is giving us the Christmas present of The Elite and Death Triangle so many more times. Who could possibly get sick of these matches?

* Absolutely brilliant mocking Punk in Chicago. The deliberate failure of a buckshot lariat in a competitive match? Take that Jim Cornette and anybody who thinks wrestling shouldn’t be silly.

* Love how the hammer played into the finish again. Puts over how tough these guys are taking hammer shots to the head and not dying. A good lesson for the children. It was so funny when Pentagon did his catchphrase and the whole crowd did it with him but Matt Jackson didn’t turn around. I love how their characters are that they are really stupid.

I’m with Destor’s sentiment. If cooler heads can’t prevail/money can’t be thrown around to allow this all to lead to something massive, let’s just stop doing the wrestling. Shut it down.

Those three Elite lads are absolute pricks though. It’s the height of immaturity to publicly tell people to put it behind them, and then mock someone who isn’t there to defend themselves on live TV.

I think it’s highly probable that Punk is a big baby, but it’s equally as probable that his criticisms were valid and that these morons will be the end of the company some day.

The mocking, after getting a pasting from a broken down 44 year old and retired wrestler, is really something. It makes them infinitely more unliekable.

Even when Dx was mocking Bret after Montreal, it actually led to a PPV match where someone was sticking up for him. Shawn went over, but it happened.

Who do they bring in to stick up for Punk if there is an actual end game? I don't think there is one, and this just them being their typical boring ass selves.

I would have to think FTR and Danielson would be the only real option.

It’s all a work. In 6 months, when CM Punk is back from his triceps injury, the money they’re going to make off giving their company a black eye when people reflect on match #2 from this best of seven series is going to shame people. It’ll be enough cash to fill a bucket.

There isn’t anybody, other than FTR. And if this doesn’t lead to some storyline, whether punk is involved or not, that plays this off, it just highlights that the elite are the exact clown show they’ve always been accused of being.

I’m very much hoping the petty little digs were more than just telling the Chicago crowd and that everybody involved agreed to use their dislike for one another to make money. The Elite v PUNK and FTR is a dream scenario if the parties involved pull their heads out of their asses.

You’re right. Punk’s gone for months. Match two in a stupid series that people are going to want to forget is not some major inciting incident to start a program that Punk wouldn’t want anything of anyway. The reason there is heat is largely because Punk knows how good they aren’t. Why work with pricks like that who cut down everyone around them and get your friend when they breached your assigned locker room? Why help these fucks out?

They were in Chicago and probably thought they were going to get cheered. They wanted to shit on Punk in Chicago and make “his” crowd theirs. I doubt they changed up a single spot. They’re not clever enough for that lol. For the people who think this is a work because “there’s no way they could be so petty and childish.” Yes. Yes they can be. That’s exactly why this shit happened.

If Omega and Punk were good wrestlers, there are a million ways to set up Punk vs. Omega or whatever. This is absolutely the worst way. And there is no money to be made from this anyway. The Elite aren’t very good and as soon as you see them dancing together, why does any of the “heat” matter? It’s just an awful story with stupid fake wrestlers and the fake fighter lowering himself to that level.

I guarantee there were people watching that show who have no clue why CM Punk is gone. He just disappeared with no explanation. Because AEW sucks at telling stories. Some might still think he is coming back. Some probably think the bush league company couldn’t pay him to stick around. But there is no reason to link Punk and The Elite on television. There were probably a lot of people who had no clue why The Elite were being booed (probably just think it’s because they suck) and assumed the CM Punk stuff was a weird way to mock Chicago for thinking that.

I dunno. The way they mocked him has me thinking in the back of my head that Punk is going to cost them in match 7 of the series somehow. Before I did not even think him returning was a possibility. Now I think there is a chance.

The only 7 this will cost is Tony Khan 7 figures from the eventual lawsuit.

This isn't WWE where everybody watching is 70 plus. AEW's audience is primarily in the heavily valued 25-54 demographic. These are young educated fans with access to the Internet, the vast vast majority understands why Punk isn't there.

If you’re going to bring Punk back, the money programs are with MJF and Moxley. You know — the guys he has unfinished business with. There has been no on-air acknowledgement of anything ever between The Elite and Punk. They’ve started doing his moves because they hate Chicago or something (smart move considering how much they run there).

If this is a *story* they’re running with? It’s fucking weak. It’s way more likely that these guys are just cunts. Which is likely why they got smacked up while trying to be bullies recently.

AEW isnt bringing in casuals. 100% of their viewing audience knows about the backstage hoopla. On air is irrelevant.

AEW is basically the TNA audience. That core wrestling audience that watches everything.

WWF could never dip below AEW numbers. Its the baseline of dedicated "consume all" wrestling audience.

This shouldn’t be the goal though. They’re the reason they don’t attract more casual fans. Anyone flicking who might give them a shot are met with all these barriers to entry.

Pretty much. Even if they don't watch every show, they are into the product enough that seeing The Elite mock Punk isn't a head scratcher.

I know the joke is that AEW fans are all worthless nerds, but I think you are underestimating how many viewers just watch the TV and don’t bother googling this shit. A lot of Americans still hate researching shit. They’ll watch a movie with a famous actor and not give a shit who they are either. “Oh, it’s that guy.”

This is the mistake Vince Russo made. A lot of people actively don’t want to know what happens behind the scenes.
