RIP Bray Wyatt

Jesus :eek::( |
WTF
|
I truly wonder what happened to him in January. They said it was life threatening. I'm curious as to what it was now.
|
What did Noid do...
|
Not Bray....:'(
|
Holy shit man, just 36 years old. That is heartbreaking
|
Damn, that's rough. Sucks big time.
RIP Thanks for the memories and moments. |
First Terry Funk yesterday, and now Bray?!
Fuck August, 2023. |
I started watching NXT when he was on the way out already, but I remember catching him in NXT, seeing him in the ring cutting a promo and it was like he had "so much energy that the ring could barely contain him". Those were my thoughts at the time, and I was like "whoa, this guy is gonna be huge if they let him".
Unfortunately they never quite let him be as huge as he could have been, but there are many fond memories and moments. |
This is fucking horrible. Way, WAY too young.
RIP |
This is so reminiscent of how I felt with Brodie's passing coming seemingly out of nowhere. WTF is all I keep thinking.
|
Yeah this is weirdly similar to Brodie. Working one day, out the next, find out he's been sick, then he's gone.
|
So crazy :(
|
Mad depressed rn. Bray was my favorite by a lot. Don't want to believe this is real.
|
Was he still on TV? I only watched Mania this year and don't think he was on.
|
Man, I don't even want to think about what happened.
R.I.P. |
:(

Last rumors were that he did have a life threatening thing happening but that he’s gotten through it and was just recuperating. Who fucking knows now. I’m sure his family will put it out there eventually. But man this is so tragic. |
Way too young
RIP |
Really don’t know what to say.
He is one of the reasons I got back into wrestling. I’m gutted, I looked forward to what he would do next - I would try and guess what would happen. I was only hoping the other day that the arena was going to go black at the end of Summerslam and he would appear. Now we know why his loved ones got so angry at rumours being spread that he was coming back soon. Just sad |
wonder who will be number 3
|
Sickening. Too young. Too much still to do. Sad. RIP.

Wow thats crazy out of the blue. I wasn't a big fan of the character but everyone seemed to say the guy was top notch.
Crazy world sometimes. |
Rest in Power, Bray.
And maybe this should give WWE a clue that there should NOT be a 'next UnderTaker' in that company, and that all 'paranormal' storylines should be permanently stopped. o.o |
Fuck COVID.

This is heartbreaking.
|
Wow. Heartbreaking.
Have to admit for a millisecond I thought “what if it’s a work to setup a comeback”, wrestling makes you think some weird stuff. I was fascinated with what he was going to do next, where the story was going, there’s not many guys that make me think that nowadays. Now the story will be left untold. His 4 kids left without a dad at such young ages, it’s difficult to comprehend. RIP Windham “Bray Wyatt” Rotunda. |
RIP.
Pretty surprising hopefully other Wyatt dudes ain't next |
Damn. RIP :(

Bro, same. My teenage son actually cried because he was such a huge inspiration and the main reason he's so into horror. He has signed merch from him and all. He was a mess last night. We all thought it was bullshit at first because he's always looking up "rumors" and stuff.... then I searched and yeah. Doesn't seem real man. |
Pretty jarring death. Very young with a young family. Eerie how two of the original three Wyatt Family members are gone.
|
WWE has announced that 100% of Wyatt merch sales will go to Jojo and their kids.
|
Checking the merch site at the moment I'm mostly seeing Uncle Howdy masks and PPV plaques. Could've been an immediate run on inventory. Or the site's overwhelmed.
But I think they'll replenish and maybe break out a bunch of old designs from his earlier runs too, hopefully giving the family some proceeds in perpetuity. |
Him being from a wrestling family means that a lot of his colleagues, and others in the wrestling industry, will likely have known him since he was a small child too. Makes it all the more jarring that he's gone so soon.
|
I've literally zero connection with Bray Wyatt, so--while this is very sad since he was so young and it's just brutal--I'm not really impacted one way or the other.
However, I imagine many people on the forum and modern fans are probably feeling the same way I felt about Eddie's death. A very pivotal figure that many identified with taken suddenly. It's fucked, no doubt. |
Quote:
|
Fuck off you little turd man.
|
UHOH
|
For the record, I wasn't knocking Bray's ability. I don't watch modern wrestling, so I was just trying to keep it real and not pretend this death impacts me in some profound way. And I drew a comparison to a death that did impact me.
|
Indeed.
Robin Williams's death hit me like that. Zero connection to him, but his comedy helped me through a lot of shit throughout my life. I've emulated a bit of his personality into my own life, so it felt "shitty". What was it about Eddie that hit you different? |
Fuckin hell, 36. That is awful. My heart breaks for his wife and kids.
I was a big fan of his. One of the most creative guys I've seen. I was always interested to see what his next thing was because I knew he'd bring something different to the show. What a shame :( |

Reportedly a lot of people who weren't scheduled for SmackDown are now going. Which sounds like the entire roster's been invited to turn up for what I'd guess will be a tribute show.
Hope they go that route. Storylines can be paused for a week. Let anyone who wants to wrestle go out there, especially those closest to Bray. |

RIP Bray one of the greatest of the current era of wrestling.

I was listening to the tribute Cultaholic did earlier, found myself getting choked up on a few occasions. Think it’s this weird type of “arrested development” when it comes to wrestling. I was first a fan when I was really young before dropping out in early 95, then got back into it around SummerSlam 98 so I think in the formative years of my fandom wrestlers were adults. It’s probably a level of cognitive dissonance where I’ve not reconciled that I’m now older than most of the guys we watch. At 39 I’m 3 years older than Windham. He’s the same age as my wife. We have two young children (nearly 5 years old, and 7 months old) so it’s hard not to reflect on what’d mean to them if I were to go. Truly heartbreaking for those kids. Everything everyone is saying about him and the type of person he was, I bet he was a fantastic father.

For like less than a second with the way SD ended I thought it was a work and he was back. Just the way they filmed it and filled the whole camera shot with the shot of him on the tron, for like .5 seconds I was like "WTF?! No freaking way they would have faked this"
|
One of the best (if not the best) live band entrances ever

Absolutely loved him as a performer. I remember even Cornette (before they leaned heavy into the supernatural aspects) said after watching him for the first time in one of the Firefly Funhouse vignettes that it was a rare example of “goofy shit” that could actually work because the performer is so good.
This sucks. On a side note: “Broken Out in Love” was a fantastic theme song. |
It wasn't shown on air, but according to a few things I've read, Roman was there and he gave the blue belt he won from Bray to his family and it's now officially retired.

Eddie Guerrero was mentioned earlier. It’s hard to believe he was only 38 himself. Maybe it’s just because of how we age, but 38 seemed way older back then. Brian Pillman was only 35.
|
I was 18 when Guerrero passed, and 38 made him seem like one of the "old guys" in wrestling. I'm now 36. :(

Saw a report that Meltzer saying his heart issue goes all.the way back to December 2020, that they wrote him off when Orton lit him on fire. That he only had that quick match against Orton at Mania after that, and was released. It was also implied that it was why he did not do any independent shows after his release. Once he did get cleared again, WWE hired him back.
If that timeline is true WWE really shouldn't have released him since he was not cleared. Letting a guy go for that reason is real scummy. I also have to wonder if the plan was to transition him to just managing Bo. Still surreal how there was nothing until after the fact. With Brodie it happened in the span of a few months. But this seems like a long time for it to have been kept under wraps. Of course it is Meltzer, so he could just be taking educated guesses. |
Meltzer. Educated guess. Does not compute.

Sorry you were stewing on my response to your dick-headed post for so long |
People are welcome to feel how they want. The fact that he pointed out that he doesn't care about the situation but knows that people will be affected by it the same way that he felt when Eddie died.
|
I don't see anything wrong with Dale's original post.
|
There’s nothing wrong with it.
|
People get annoyed when you don’t muster up fake sentimentality for people’s deaths. There’s this social trap to pretend that someone was amazing and you’re going to miss them dearly even if it’s a lie.
Dale just said that he wasn’t a fan, it’s not his thing, but he can empathize with people who do watch because Bray had some contemporary significance. |
Nothing wrong with it but it makes him sound like a shit head as it was unnecessary.
|
Eh, some people feel fake sentiment is unnecessary.
|
Cornette’s comments on his death were pretty much “just because I didn’t like his wrestling doesn’t mean I wanted anything bad to happen to him, sounds like he was a great guy so this is sad”
Feels fair and not too dissimilar from what Dale said tbh. None of us know Bray as a person. We only know him from what we see on screen. As a human yes it’s obviously sad but if you’re not a fan of his work or haven’t watched it there’s no reason to wax poetic about his legacy. |

Let's stop the negative energy in this thread, alright?

What about this one, Dave? Ignore the post im quoting.
https://www.tpwwforums.com/showpost....2&postcount=84 |
There was nothing cruel or mean about what I said. I'd understand pushback if I said it on Bray Wyatt's Facebook page or some random person's Twitter thread who was super depressed about Wyatt's death. But this is TPWW. Such conversations--and pontifications--are part of the forum. We can be a bit more unfiltered here.
And I don't regret calling you a worthless dipshit, Savio. I meant every word lol |
Edit: Dale edited his post above so this post seemed unnecessary
|
Did anyone else see Val Venis go full REEEEEEEEtard on SRS for reporting Bray's cause of death? I'm not linking his tweets here because I'll feel dirty, but go check it out.
Fuck Val Venis. |
I haven't seen yet but Val Venis is for sure a piece of shit so that is not surprising.
|
He basically went full antivaxxer, spazzed at SRS for reporting what happened because it will make people go get the cLoT sHoT and SRS will be responsible for their deaths, brought up cocaine for some reason, and took a weird jab at people who have preferred pronouns.
|
My take away from this thread is the vaccine DJT pushed through by removing proper regulatory controls has zero side effects short term or otherwise. Trump is a genius and can do no wrong.
Also covid came from bats im sure. |
To the topic its a damn shame about Wyatt. I never cared for his work as a character or a worker but 36 is just too young.

Guy was over. I cant deny that. and he wasnt used very consistently so we cant really say what his trajectory couldve/shouldve been. Nothing about his style resonated with me at all but thats just personal taste. For a lot of the audience this is a significant blow and I hate that for them.
|
He wasn't the greatest in ring but I feel like he hitvhard and his stuff looked good. Overall I enjoyed a lot more of his matches than those I didn't.
|
That match with Daniel Bryan at the Rumble was REALLY good and should have been what catapulted him to a full time main event heel phenom.
|
And then he ran into a Cena-shaped wall at Mania.

Well shit, even if he was not wearing it, if he was JUST at the doctors that day after being in the hospital the week before, there must not have been much they could do.
I wonder if the reason he did not get an internal defibrillator is because his heart was already too damaged to handle a surgical procedure. |
Out all every death last week.... and in a while- this one hurts. RIP.
Best character since the Undertaker. One of the main reasons to watch WWE between 2013 and up (after Punk left) Damn it. |
After reading that, could Bray have actually made a comeback like people were talking about?
|
Does not seem like it tbh. Maybe as a manager but as an active performer? No way they let a man who requires a defribilator to get in the ring and rassle. If something had happened to him in a match they would get absolutely demolished by the media and fans for it once all that came out.
