AEW: Dynamite Grand Slam 2023
 

I am not very whelmed by this card. Joe and MJF is interesting but the rest is like...meh.

Claudio v Kingston will probably be a generic slug fest between 2 guys who are boring at this point.

Obligatory Chris Overthehillicho match as required on all "big" shows.

Moxley v Fenix will prob be a fun match but we all know it's just going to devolve into amateur surgery hour at some point.

And Saraya v Toni Storm.

I think my level of whelm went down a little more after typing that.

The Moxley bleeding every match thing is a joke. Just unnecessary and what it actually impacts the company as a whole. When other wrestlers bleed, it doesn't add the shock value to the match like it should because Moxley does it every week.

I could care less about Saraya and Toni Storm because just like WWE, they haven't done enough to make the audience want to care about it. Toni Storm is interesting with this new character but Saraya's championship run has been lackluster at best.

Feel like this is going to be me reading Bleacher Report's review of the show and if anything stands out, I'll give it a watch.

Claudio vs Eddie is one of the best unintentional long term rivalries in recent memory. I'll be rooting for Eddie despite the obvious conclusion of the match.

Is attendance still looking abyssmal?

Since I don't have to view Noid's posts anymore, my enjoyment of professional wrestling has increased immensely.

I just had an insane idea where you don't have to watch a promotion if you disapprove of their storytelling and booking decisions. Especially, if it is affecting your mental health. I know it sounds absurd to even suggest this but people have varying interests and they may like things that you don't. I know it sounds crazy but it's definitely worth considering.

This card feels like a repeat. How many times are we supposed to care about Cesaro vs Kingston? The Outcasts were so generic and stale, and even the fueding of them wasn't a hot angle, just literally "oh Toni Storm is crazy now". Moxley vs Fenix is so heatless I feel like it has both happened many times and I cant remember if it has ever happened. Jericho vs Sammy has been teased for what 3 years, across 2 different factions, and the payoff is doing the same story MJF/Adam Cole just did?

Even Joe vs MJF is built around MJF as an extra in NXT. I made a post a few days ago about if not Joe than who, but what does it say about the AEW World Title if it is lost to the 3rd tier ROH singles championship? Seriously, the AEW World Title would be on equal footing with the TV Title for a company that doesn't even have a TV Deal.

Tiny Khan is just not good, even when he lucks into something good, he blows it completely. WTF happened to Wardlow?

From your post history, it is clear that you do not like AEW, TK or CM Punk. What compels you to keep posting about them so much when you're not getting any enjoyment out of the product?

I like AEW fine, I watch it and I enjoy parts of it. If I didnt watch it I wouldnt care if they put on lackluster shows.

Since day one of AEW, I have had the exact same thought process, if something is good ill enjoy it, but I refuse to just blindly cheerlead for everything no matter what. For a show they made a big deal of, Grand Slam, this is a lazy heatless card. Just because it is Grand Slam does not mean I have to pretend the same old same old is exciting.

I do dislike Tiny Khan, and I think it is a shame that out of all the billionaire kids in the world, we got stuck with him as the one who funds a secondary wrestling promotion. Any one of Elon Musk's 10 children would do a better job. Even the ones that are 2 years old could drool on a page of AEW's roster and make better randomized matches.

I think CM Phil the person is a prick, but that is not why I dislike him. If he was presented in any other way than super tough badass guy who beats everybody, he could be an interesting character. The CM Punk we got was not believable because I saw with my own eyes him not even being able to defend himself from getting tickled and pinched by an amateur fighter, and that was after spending 3 years and a million+ dollars to train with a world class MMA coach and training team.

The thing that gets me the most is you take Jim Cornette who has created a one sided fued with Kenny Omega. His hest is because Omega did some comedy stuff for DDT that nearly no one saw and more over more than half of the people who know about it state only know because he brings up every 5 seconds. It can be reasonably argued that JC himself has done more to popularize the match than anyone.

Now juxtapose that against Punk. What punk did in the ufc he did in front of a massive buyrate. Everyone saw it. Punks blight on the image of wrestling is so severe it nearly out does the good faith Lesnar had accrued for wrestlers being tough guys.

I cant comprehend giving Punk a pass for exposing the business and to simultaneously Omega. It makes zero sense. Omega being a young guy just trying to keep the pay checks coming in said yes to some shit he didnt have the sense to say no to. I get that.

Punk however? There's no way he didnt know he couldnt fight. He'd been in the camps. He fuckin knew damn good and well. He needed the pay day and needed more than he needed to protect the business.

There's an old adage in wrestling. Kayfabe the dick. If you're a baby its good business to fuck the rats. They keep coming back, they spend more money and they tell the other girls all about it. But you gotta have the good dick to make it work. If you dont have that good dick KAYFABE THE DICK.

Punk took those fights knowing he didnt have the dick to back it up. And if you dont it poisons the well for the rest of us. It kills your draw and it kills our draw.

If you’re going to disqualify CM Punk for being a shit fighter, it would only make sense to disqualify Omega for being a shitter fighter and for the questionable stuff. It pops up very readily on YouTube. Plenty of people have seen it.

Show sounds shit, by the way. Way more fun to talk about what a tosser Kenny Omega is.

To be fair, Sissy Boy Slapfight is more entertaining than Dynamite. Maybe not for the same or even a good reason.

Moxley is lucky he's not paralyzed. How they come up with the idea that having a guy do a move that is 30 pounds lighter than him at a minimum is a safe idea, especially when the move involves spiking a guys head into the ground.

Saraya Storm was alright for what it was.

Kingston/Claudio was really good and out of left field in terms of the win. Crowd was a second late popping because of the shock value. Kingston's work has been really good lately so I am not surprised they want him to lead ROH for awhile.

Loved the ending for Sammy/Jericho and Sammy aligning with the Callis family. It will really help in the long run, plus Sammy has always been better as a heel.

MJF/Joe was good. Cole potentially breaking his ankle is not good.

Your opinion was the complete opposite. The show was actually pretty good. Reading about a show and complaining about it instead of watching it and forming your opinion is pretty weak. I know you aren't the biggest fan of the company but at the same time, don't trust what the random person you decided to read results from form your opinion.

But that destroys his whole gimmick. Without that, he'd have nothing.

I remember when he used to fantasy book things. Those days were good because it seemed like a genuine person.

Stevie Richards called Tiny an idiot for doing this after what happened to Moxley. Shockingly, AEW got the video pulled off of youtube for copyright infringement within an hour. None of Stevie's other videos with footage of AEW had been pulled before.

AEW hasn't uploaded Mox vs Fenix on their YouTube channel either.

Fun as hell show to be at. Crowd was hot all night and the turnout was way better than expected even a day before the show.

Loved pretty much everything save the Mox/Fenix finish obviously. That was scary and Rick Knox should probably be suspended. Rule 1 is to protect your talent and be able to tell if a wrestler is actually hurt/out cold. Rule 2 is to actually count the fucking fall legitimately.

Rick Knox isn’t a problem. Wrestlers who help improve the product and prevent stuff like that from happening are the problem.

Well that's what happens when you just go on the fly because you can do some leg slaps and kicks.
