Official Wrestling Forum Moderator PRIMARY VOTE

READ BEFORE VOTING:

OK, before the actual "election", we are gonna do a primary vote to weed out some people. The top five people who get the most votes will move on to the actual election, and will have a chance to "campaign" for themselves in a thread that I will eventually set up.

Before voting, please remember the following:

THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST

Please vote for the person who you think would be the BEST WRESTLING MODERATOR. By that, I mean a person who you think will be fair and won't hold grudges or delete threads because of personal reasons and shit like that.

Also, vote for the person who is ON HERE THE MOST. If you rarely see some of the names listed here in the wrestling forum, don't bother voting for them.

Nominees, feel free to "campaign" or whatever in this thread IN ONE POST. Don't spam it or overdo it or I will disqualify you.

Also, DO NOT CHEAT WITH THE VOTING.
- If you have under 100 posts, do not vote.
- I am able to check who voted and will be doing so.
- Cheaters (people who vote with alternate names) will be disqualified.

That's pretty much it. Vote. The poll will close Sunday morning at 10:23 AM, 4 days from now.

Tornado 07-07-2004 11:25 AM

Pretty good idea...better than a poll of 15+ people, shame i'll be out in this round...:(

My Campaign would be pretty simple, as a Brit, i'd try to enforce the "No Spoiler" rule to the best of my ability, as I know this can be a sore point for some of us.
Also, I'd delete posts/thread that are complety irrelevant to the discussion, or wrestling.
And finally, I'm on the boards pretty much every day, so i'd be constant...
.

HeartBreakMan2k 07-07-2004 11:36 AM

Just going to post and mention that as an older member, I've seen everything that's happened on these board and know how to deal with them. I know the rules and have respect for them, and I'd make sure they were followed, regardless of how unpopular that could make me. Having experience around the forums is a plus in my mind and that along with my being on a good majority of the day and have respect for all the posters and what they contribute are positive aspects as well. Like Tornado I'd keep up with the No spoiler rule, as well as delete the spam.

Dave Youell 07-07-2004 11:44 AM

Well to be honest the forums work pretty fine the way they are already, there's always a few trolls who will try to rock the boat who need to be dealt with and also the who spoiler thing, but apart from that I can't really see what else my duties would involve. As far as being on the site, I know my post count hasn't increased greatly but I do check the boards at least 4 times a day whilst at work and more at night time and weekends. I've wanted to do this job for ages and I feel I'd be a fair Mod as I don't have any history with any poster on the forum. I know I'm not a stand out guy for any reason, I'm not the smartest, I'm not the funniest, I don't know what the opener of Summerslam 89 was, but I do like wrestling and these boards.

And if that's not enough how about some shameless advertising?

Savio 07-07-2004 12:15 PM

Unlike Dave Youell I do know the opener, Hart Foundation V. Brain Busters. But stating old facts will not get me anywhere. I am on here more then any other person. If any crap thread is made like a milestone topic it will be locked or deleted. Also raw threads will be stickied on time. If I become mod and there is any problem feel free to tell me about it. I will be fair and just so vote for me.
-----------Other facts------------------
I am on here more then corky.
I will no be corrupt like a few of these other canidates
I'll get rid of the topic My convo with LC .

Corkscrewed 07-07-2004 12:18 PM

While this forum is usually all right, there are sometimes occassions where a mod is needed, such as when Dark Kane makes his monthly return, or when certain important topics need to be stickied or unstickied. I will also crack down on morons who make moronic posts, ban people who have the spelling capabilities of a one month old shrew, and make sure I win every Caption of the Month.

On second though, scratch that last bit.

Oh yeah, and I'm on here all the time.

Nark Order 07-07-2004 01:14 PM

I'm supporting Funky's Campaign.

I think that people under 1000 posts should not be able to vote due to the fact that they are the problem in the first place.

Shaggy 07-07-2004 03:00 PM

I hope my vote here and the one on the other one dont cross each other out but anyway I voted for LC. I voted for him because since I started being on here every day and figuring things out LC is one of the people who has helped me out. Not saying others havnt but my vote goes to LC. Have A Nice Day :)

Corkscrewed 07-07-2004 03:16 PM

The Naitch 07-07-2004 04:02 PM

I was gonna vote for you LC. But then I chose KK. But then again, I don't take this thing seriously. As long as the new mod deletes threads from the entire jWo and is here most of the time, then I could careless.

Vote KK

I thought TheCynick would've made the best mod, but he isn't on the poll. I went with LC, but Kane Knight would be a really good mod too.

You may be right for the most part, but I am sure that there are many idiots that post here with over 1000 posts, and conversely good posters with less than 1000 posts. Everybody has to start somewhere ;)

I don't see you posting here very much anyways, so why are you complaining about it?

MVP 07-07-2004 05:11 PM

Hello

I like Randy Orton.

Dave Youell 07-07-2004 05:11 PM

I admit my spelling and grammar isn't great and i'm sorry.

But I can't help that children!

#1-norm-fan 07-07-2004 05:12 PM

I was the first "Smartest Wrestling Poster" award winner way back in the 90's. Then I sold out to casual. I realize that, like the girlscouts, I have changed. Plus I'm the #1-wwf-fan. Plus, if elected mod, I will make a move to get the word "Orton" banned so you have to use that < / > this between the T and the O. Unless the people don't want that. I dunno. I'll put it to a vote or something.

Plus, I'll make sure to put warnings with all spoiler topics. I'm also online alot. Ignore the fact that it took me this long to post this. :shifty:

In closing, I've been here 6 years now. I need a taste of the good life. :(

Funky Fly 07-07-2004 05:40 PM

Vote Funky Fly or the da_king gets it.

Alright, I'll keep this short and (bitter)sweet.

You all me. I am the nicest guy on the boards most of the time, I get along with just about everyone. You know I'll be fair. If a newbie acts up, he or she gets 3 strikes before recommendation for a temporary ban (unless I have banning ability myself). If it's a troll, it's permaban time.

I'm quite allergic to stupidity, so I'll be keeping the spammers and trolls on a very short leash (or rather a noose). If spoilers are given away in titles, I'll edit them as quickly as I can and post a warning to the offending posters.

I'm on quite often and for good stretches of time (at least 1 hour, but usually more, almost every day). Being a programming student allows me to browse while studyig at the same time, so I'll have the place running smoothly most of the time.

I can't promise that I will be as good Rob Harvey back in the day, but I will try my damndest to be so. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day! :)

I vote for Dave Youell. But KK, LC and Funky would make great mods too.

big_bluto 07-08-2004 11:11 AM

I voted Dave Youell, but there are others there I would have voted for.

Basically, I'm quite ambivalent about who gets it, as long as they can be detached enough to look at a thread/post/argument and judge it not on the content, but on the topic, without being drawn in.

Personally I would have been the perfect mod, but I haven't hit 1000 posts.

Question to AAA. Will the person who is eventually chosen as mod for the wresting forum have banning power, etc?

Let me add something to all the candidates. Sure, I and the other mods don't frequent here much. However, we are still mods here. I say this because we ( I hope I speak for everybody) are open to providing input and direction in helping form your modding decision(s). I wouldn't want a new mod to feel overwhelmed or anything. Believe me, things change once you have these "powers".

big_bluto 07-09-2004 10:14 AM

Can I be boring and re-iterate for all those out there who're voting this as a popularity contest on who you like the most.............

This is about electing a moderator.
Definition:
One that moderates, as:
 1.
One that arbitrates or mediates.
 2. One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.
A Mod for the wrestling forum would have various duties, and what we are looking for out of this is someone who views the forum on a regular basis, doesn't get involved in petty, stupid arguments, doesn't take others posts personally, and someone who will judge fairly and impartially the merits of each case.

You should be looking at each person on this list and asking yourself the following:
Is this person impartial?
Is this person detached enough to have a good unbiased overview
Is this person courageous enough to take a stand against someone popular?
Is this person sensible enough to moderate a discussion?
Is this person reliable?
Is this person really interested in doing this job?

Those are the questions I asked myself.

Granted I've only been around for a few months, but I'll give you the breakdown of why I voted against each of the candidates.

For any of the candidates reading this, please bear in mind that these are my opinions only, and as you put yourself forward to be nominated, each one of you will have had this done to you by each poster. I've had the bottle to put it down, but I'll deal with the neg rep when it comes in. Anyway, the point I'm making is this:
Don't take these posts as personal criticism. They're purely my opinions, and if you do take them personally, should you be standing for mod in the first place?

#1-wwf-fan: Don't really know too much about him, but seems decent enough as a poster. If I had more familiarity with him, then he would seem to be a fairly good choice, but I don't know enough about him to vote for him at present.

Alienoid06: I like this poster, but again don't know enough about him personally to know if he could be a good mod.

asphyXy: Haven't seen this name too often on the wrestling boards, so would be inclined not to vote for this person. Maybe I should pay more attention?

AssMan: Haven't seen this name too often on the wrestling boards, so would be inclined not to vote for this person. Do recall this poster as being pretty funny, but again don't know enough about this person to vote for him.

Big Vito 22: Fairly good poster in my lowly opinion, but again don't know enough about him.

Corkscrewed: This guy is a great poster. Funny, consistent and has already proven that he can moderate by controlling the Wrestling Scenes from the Hat thread, and the Captions competitions (even if he never gets my caps!). For me Corky would be a good choice for mod, because he seems pretty fair, he puts in a lot of uncredited work and the wrestling forum wouldn't be the same with out him.

Dave Youell: This guy is a solid, but rare poster. Dave was campaigning to become a mod when I first came on this site, and I've never seen him get into a stupid feud. His posts always seem pretty well thought out, and consistent. I also heard he's a parent, so he's aware of responsibility, and he's the only guy I've ever seen promoting TPWW at a wrestling event. Dave got my vote incidentally.

deadlyheaven: I like this poster, but for me he seems more of a casual poster, and I'm not sure he has the detachment to step back from a thread enough to moderate. However, I think he's funny and a good poster. V Entertaining.

deathtrap: Sorry, but your name draws a complete blank with me.

Fryza: Fairly solid poster, but in my lowly opinion, isn't around the wrestling forum enough to moderate well.

Funky Fly: F'n great poster. Wicked sense of humour. Not sure that he wouldn't ban people for a laugh, and perhaps more of a casual forum guy than a wrestling forum guy. However, he probably would make a good mod, as he seems mature enough to be able to do the job. Would be on my vote list.

HeartBreakKid2k: Again, another solid poster, who's around the forum on a pretty regular basis. I don't know enough about this guy yet, but he would be edging onto my vote list.

Kane Knight: I'll probably get flamed to hell for this, but I don't think Kane Knight would make a good mod. I think he's without doubt the best poster on TPWW, and he must pay Trips rent for the amount of time he's here, but I think he's too open to feud to be a fair mod. How long do you think Goldbird would've lasted if KK was a mod? He's now turned out to be an alright poster, but would he have got the chance?
Anyway, I think KK is a hell of a poster, wicked funny, but wouldn't be on my personal list for mod.

Lara Emily: Never seen anyone with so much wrestling media! Unbelievable. Good poster from what I've seen and really knows her wrestling, but I don't think the temperament is there for a mod. Lara strikes me as quite passionate, and I think that a mod should be a little more detached. I still enjoy reading everything she posts though, even if she dis-agrees that the forum should be split.....

Loose Cannon: LC, The Ultimate Randy Orton Mark, one of the all time funniest guys on the boards, with a surprisingly huge depth of knowledge of wrestling. Also seems like a pretty good choice as a mod, but for me he's a really good poster, and being a mod would interfere with that, and as a result the forum would lose out on a lot of LC's entertainment.

MVP: This guy I like. He's a good poster, solid and is around the boards pretty frequently. I would like to know more about him, but haven't yet for some reason. FUnny and solid. Probably on my vote list.

natureboycv: Quite like this guy too. Fairly good poster in my lowly opinion, but again don't know enough about him.

Nowhere Man: Always enjoy reading his posts. FUNNY guy, and his captions are great. Seems to enjoy participating, but seems to be detached enough to be capable as a mod. Would definitely be edging onto my list.

Savior: More a casual forum poster than a wrestling forum poster, and for me not a candidate. Nothing against the guy, but I don't know enough about him either.

Shaggy: Again, haven't seen a lot of this poster around the wrestling forum. In fact, can't recall a post that's been made that has any memory for me, so wouldn't vote for you. Maybe my memory sucks?

The Playa: Again, can't recall much about you, so you're probably more of a casual forum poster. Apologies if I'm wrong, but I don't know enough about you to vote for you.

Tornado: I like this poster - he's funny and pretty sharp. I'm not sure if I would have voted for him as a mod, becauseI don't know too much about him, but his posts seem solid enough. Not sure for the mod qualities though.

And can I finish by saying good luck to all who entered.

I voted for Kane Knight. Tough choice between KK or LC but KK just gets my vote.
