I dont like their football team either, but I cant really say they've been bitch slapped lately. Unfortunately.

They will be in the VPL competition starting from next season, along with the Melbourne Knights. I like it this way because I get to see them every week now, plus it's a more structured competition as opposed to the NSL. The NSL had no relegation system, whereas the VPL does. The VPL has a Cup competition involving all teams from Victoria who want to enter. The NSL didn't have that. So overall there'll be more games and I'll get to see them all. :y:

I hope the APL dies on its arse because of the way they treated South and some of the other NSL clubs. But for the time being I'm happy to see that 1. Hellas survived, and 2. Are playing in the VPL.

What's the state league in Queensland called? I think a Brisbane Lions FC plays in it. They used to be in the NSL back in the day, and jobbed to Hellas when we played them.

I think we've got a QPL up here, but I don't pay a whole lot of attention to it - would you believe we're a BASEBALL family? Of which the national competition (ABL) died about 6 or 7 years ago if memory serves, and in its place they have an annual 2 week tournament (Claxton Shield).

But that's completely off topic.

What I do know is that there is a soccer team up here called the Lions, but they had to change their name from Brisbane Lions to Queensland Lions, due to the AFL team and all. Same thing happened with an Aussie Rules team up here (the Northern Eagles), due to a National Rugby League team changing its name to that, though I think everything worked out because the rugby league team died or something.

My SOS teacher is Greek and he follows the NSL. We were discussing it one day, and he was telling me that in the QPL, the Lions are really cashed up and have an actual fan base, probably bigger than that of the Brisbane Strikers. Also, they've apparently been challenging the Strikers for a spot in the APL.

I wouldn't be too critical of the APL for a while. After all, they have to have enough willing and able teams to be able to create a multi-divisional league competition, and they have the unfortunate disadvantage of many years of terrible management to overcome.

But at least hope it works better than the baseball league did.

Being a Chelsea fan, I am meant to, but I like Milwall and I am meant to hate them too. Spurs piss me off for many reasons, mainly Taricco and Keller, also their fans are tossers.

Being an Arsenal fan, I can't really say much about other teams' fans, except ours aren't really tossers, they just don't get behind their team as much as other sets of fans do.

I disagree with the hating certain players thing. I really don't hate any certain guys, I only hate guys if they play for teams I hate.

Classic example is Shaq, now that he is off the Lakers I no longer hate him at all haha
