Vengence/Heat Thread

World Heavyweight Championship
In a RAW role reversal, The Rabid Wolverine overcame monster odds, making Kane tap for the right to defend his title against No. 1 contender Triple H at Vengeance.

This rivalry comes full circle at the July 11 pay-per-view, following Chris Benoit's victory over The Game at Wrestlemania XX. Since that match, Triple H has successfully forced Shawn Michaels out of the title picture, softening him in Hell in a Cell before a career-threatening attack by Kane. With HBK out of the way, Triple H is primed to take back the World Heavyweight Championship. But just in case, the Cerebral Assassin got inside the head of Eugene. Thanks to The Game's whispering words, Eugene believes Benoit is the enemy. We'll have to wait to see if Evolution's honorary member tries to shift the balance of power Triple H's way.

To this point, the champion has been unflappable. Benoit didn't back down when a recent match stipulated that he had to make Kane submit, while the Big Red Monster could claim the belt virtually any way. The Crippler still came through with a contest-ending Crossface. At Vengeance, expect Benoit to bring the action to Evolution -- no matter who tries to affect the outcome.
-------------------------------
Intercontinental Championship
The entire time Edge was out of action, he watched the self-proclaimed "Legend Killer" climb the Monday Night RAW ladder. Every time Orton pulled out another win, Edge's distaste for the rising star grew. Edge counted down the hours until he could formally introduce himself to Orton with a spear. But in recent tag team action, Orton exacted some revenge.

With Chris Jericho too injured to continue, Edge was left to face Evolution alone. He fought and clawed against the two dominant Superstars, but the odds proved overwhelming. When he had nothing left, Orton lifted Edge's slumping body, jawing at him before delivering an extra RKO for the win. In that fashion, the Intercontinental Champion hopes to force Edge back to the sidelines starting July 11 with Vengeance. Edge doesn't just want the gold, he wants to stick it to the Legend Killer.
-----------------------------------
Chris Jericho vs. Batista
After a vicious clothesline on Monday Night RAW, bloodthirsty Batista hovered above concussed Chris Jericho's battered body. Batista gloated as officials mercifully pulled Y2J from the ongoing tag team match to receive medical attention.

Only one week later, Jericho was back in tag action -- ducking clotheslines, leaping to the outside and launching into Lionsaults. It was a display that had the Richmond, Va., crowd chanting his name.

This time, it was Y2J finishing off Evolution's Batista for the 1-2-3.

At Vengeance, Batista wants to prove that one-on-one, his raw strength and brut force can overpower anyone. Jericho looks to make it two in a row in what would be a huge pay-per-view victory.
-----------------------
Tag Team Championship
While serving as General Manager of RAW for a week, Eugene took it upon himself to add a match to the Vengeance pay-per-view card. Of course, the match included himself; but not just himself, as he will team up with his new "friend" Ric Flair. The duo will take on World Tag Team Champions La Resistance for the gold. While the idea of teaming with Eugene makes Flair sick, the match is the opportunity of a lifetime for Eugene, and he can't wait until Sunday night. Will Eugene and Flair defeat La Resistance for the World Tag Team Championship? There's only one way to find out -- order Vengeance live on pay-per-view.

 kane!
Kane vs Hardy
Both Matt Hardy and Kane are accomplished wrestlers. Over the past several years, both have been involved in matches and rivalries that can be considered some of the best in the business. But this isn't about business. What's going on between Matt Hardy and Kane is personal.

While Hardy and Lita have had some differences in the past, they have recently been able to put those problems behind them and move on. In fact, the two recently became lovers again. Things were going great for the young couple. It seemed as though nothing could break this union.

Enter Kane. The Big Red Monster recently threatened the lovely Lita, claiming that he would do unimaginable things to her boyfriend if she didn't sleep with him. In an attempt to save Matt, Lita did sleep with Kane. Unfortunately for Lita, however, that is not where the story ends. Lita is now pregnant, and she doesn't know if Hardy or Kane is the father.

The horrible news has sent Hardy into a rampage. He wants nothing more than to destroy Kane for ruining his life. He will have his opportunity this Sunday, live on pay-per-view, when he faces the monster Kane.
-------------------------
Victoria vs. Molly
If anyone wants Vengeance on Sunday, it's Molly Holly. In front of the wrestling word at historic WrestleMania XX, Victoria shaved Molly bald following their Women's Championship Match. It was an added insult on a night when Molly came so close to claiming gold -- hitting a huge powerbomb and going for another. The second powerbomb was one-too-many as Victoria rolled Molly up for the win -- and shave. In Hartford, Conn., Holly hopes for a far better result.

Savio 07-11-2004 09:58 PM

I'll post match results:

Garrison Cade & Coach vs. Tajiri & Rhyno #7
The finish:
Coach was hit with the Buzzsaw Kick by Tajiri and then Tajiri made the cover to pick up the three count!

Winners - Tajiri and Rhyno
Backstage, Evolution were shown and Flair was complaining about teaming with Eugene. Triple H walked in and asked what was up? Orton asked what is going on with Eugene? Triple H told them to calm down. Ric Flair said they love and respect Triple H, but Eugene has got a screw missing and he does not want to be out there with him! Triple H said he will let them in on what is going to happen, but then paused and wondered where Eugene was? Randy said it was Batista's turn to watch him, and Triple H was worried about where Eugene was? Benoit was shown in the corridor talking to Eugene and he told Eugene that Triple H was using him, and that he should listen to him. They don't care about Eugene, and Benoit wants to be his friend and then told Eugene to be careful. Triple H was shown listening in on the conversation, and he did not look too happy.

Chris Jericho vs. Batista

The finish:
Jericho went for the Lionsault, but Batista got his knee's up. Batista went for a clothesline but Jericho hit the running enziguri for a close fall! Jericho kicked Batista in the head but Batista got to his feet and hit some right hands and hit a big time spinebuster and then went for the sit out powerbomb and scored with it! Batista went for the cover but Jericho had his foot on the rope but the referee did not see it!

Winner - Batista

Backstage:
Triple H said Evolution are his friend, not Chris Benoit. Triple H said let's think about something happy, and Triple H said he has a huge suprise for Euegene. Triple H sent Ric Flair to get Eugene's surprise and it was a Nature Boy robe! Eugene loved it and put it on and he was clearly very happy with it! Eugene hugged Triple H and Ric Flair and then strutted around the locker room.

Ric Eugene vs La resistance:
Eugene and Conway started it out with a lock up and Eugene mimicked Flair. They finally locked up and Eugene backed Conway to the corner and woo'ed and the strutted around. They locked up again and Eugene locked in a side headlock and then they both exchanged hammerlocks. Eugene took Conway down with a drop toe hold and then knocked Conway down with a shoulder block and then a hip toss.

Grenier tagged in and stomped on Flair and then clubbed him across the chest with Flair draped across the apron. Grenier hit some rights in the corner and knocked Flair down for a two count. Grenier made the tag to Conway and the two double teamed Flair but Flair tried to fight back with chops to Conway but Conway dropped him with a right for two and then went to work on Flair with rights on the mat.

Stupid STUPID move on the WWE's part. Why push Batista NOW? Even if Batista defeats Jericho, he'll still play 4th fiddle to Triple H, Orton, and even Flair.

James Steele 07-11-2004 10:10 PM

Not only that, but Jericho had alot of good monetum going in this match. Now its pissed away like everything else Jericho gets in the WWE.

Which one? The NCAA one or the Christian, etc. thoughts?

p.s. Thanks.

Your column was also a very entertaining and thoughtful read. Keep it up.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2004 10:18 PM

The Christian one. BTW: Real quick, the Edge/Christian idea I really like, but I just like Christian too much as a heel now. He's my 2nd fav heel in the WWE.

Thanks for the Column comments too

Savio 07-11-2004 10:20 PM

The finish:

Eugene came inside and went to work on both members of La Resistance and then wrapped the legs of Grenier around the ring psot. Eugene hit rights and lefts on Conway in the ring and the referee tried to break it up but Eugene shoved him down and then hit a stunner on Conway and a Bock Bottom on Grenier and then hit the People's Elbow and went to check on Flair.

Winners by disqualification and still World Tag Team Champions, La Resistance

Savio 07-11-2004 10:21 PM

Hardy vs Kane
The start:

Matt Hardy stormed to the ring and attacked Kane on the outside with rights and lefts. Kane knocked Matt down and charged at him but Matt sent him into the ring post and then into the announce table. Matt whacked Kane with a monitor to the head and got on the announce table and went for the Twist of Fate, but Kane shoved him off.

It's amazing.

It's not like Jericho's career is over now or anything (I know a few guys will overreact on here), but it still annoys the sh</>it out of me.

When are the WWE going to get it through their heads?

Chris Benoit is NOT a #1 face. GREAT wrestler, but not charismatic enough to attract an audience OUTSIDE the WWE. This is sports-entertainment. Not wrestling 101.

Edge: Gets lukewarms pops at best right now. Needs a better gimmick.

Shelton Benjamin: See above.

Eugene: Getting good reactions, but hardly a guy that you want as a face champion.

Shawn Michaels: Ideal champ, but viewed as 'past-his-prime'.

JERICHO IS THE PERFECT GUY TO BE CHAMP$#@$#@$#@$@#$#@

If it was up to me, Jericho would be built up SOLIDLY between now and Wrestlemania. At Wrestlemania, he would defeat Triple H to become World Champion.

At Summerslam 2005, he'd drop the title to Orton.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:22 PM

Kane continued to work over Matt Hardy with a short arm clothesline and then hit a sidewalk slam in the ring for a two count. Kane wrenched on the head and neck of Matt Hardy but Hardy began to fight back with right hands to Kane. Kane remained in control and sent Matt head first tothe buckle and then kicked him in the gut and hit him with a big right hand and then an elbow to the side of the head.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2004 10:23 PM

AWWW DAM, they should of gave it to Flair and Eugene. That would of been Rock/Mankind comedy right there.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:24 PM

Matt got a steel cahir and hit Kane in the mid section and then charged at him but was met with a big boot to the face. Kane picked up the steel chair and got back inside the ring but Hardy hung Kane on the top rope and then scored some right hands and Kane's foot got tied in the bottom rope and Matt Hardy went to work on him with free shots and Kane had to cover up.

Heyman 07-11-2004 10:24 PM

Yeah - I also didn't know that he'd be out until Summerslam (a few weeks before that).

p.s. I also see Eugene taking on Orton at Summerslam.....for the IC title.

I don't see Edge winning tonight. But then again - this is the WWE. A creative team full of f</>aggots.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:25 PM

Kane freed himself but Matt hit him with the ring bell and sent him inside and climbed the ropes and hit a huge legdrop off the rope and went for the Twist of Fate, but Kane powered out. Kane looked angred and picked up Hardy but Hardy reversed and scored with the Twist of Fate and made the cover for two! Kane then sat up as Matt whacked him with rights but Kane grabbed him by the throat and delivered the chokeslam.

Kane Knight 07-11-2004 10:26 PM

No. I get face reactions on tpww a lot of the time, but I'm still the greatest heel/troll of all-time. :p

I'm not too concerned with Orton's face-ish reaction (if he got one....I'm not watching the PPV). Corporate Rock also got mixed reactions, as did Triple H from 2000.

LOL.

Did they really send Mordecai down? If so - then :n: . I actually felt like the crowd were VERY receptive towards that gimmick. Since religious connotations were involved with the gimmick, it's not like anyone's going to completely 'BOO'.

Hopefully - Mordecai comes back with the same gimmick.

Holly, Gunn, and Rikishi also need to be re-packaged.

p.s. What did you think about my "Showberg" idea? I know it sounds stupid, but I actually think it could work. Hell - if "Eugene" worked, then that could definitely work.

The finish:

Kane went to the outside of the ring and grabbed the ring steps and threw them inside the ring. Lita came running down the aisel and got in the way of Kane and told him to put them down, she pleased with him and he finally put them down and then threatened Lita in the corner. Kane again picked up the steps but Matt whacked them with a steel chair and they went right into the face of Kane! Matt Hardy has defeated Kane!

Winner - Matt Hardy

FUCK THE WWE! GAB WAS BETTER THEN THIS.

Yep, Mordecai is totally scrapped and won't be coming back. Or at least that's what I've heard

Savio 07-11-2004 10:35 PM

Backstage:

Matt Hardy is shown in the backstage and Lita is begging him to talk to her. Matt said that Lita is pregnant, and there is no telling what would have happened if Kane hit her with the stairs, and that baby could be their baby and Lita should stay away from the ring and until he figures things out, she needs to stay away from him.

Transplant 07-11-2004 10:36 PM

YEAH!! *marks like a 4 yr old*

Savio 07-11-2004 10:37 PM

The start:

Edge and Orton locked up as the fans strangely chanted for Orton. Orton locked in a side headlock and Edge escaped and locked in one of his own. Orton whipped Edge to the ropes but Edge came back with a shoulder block and the fans booed him! They locked it up for a third time and Orton wrenched on the arm of Edge but Edge reversed it and locked in a side headlock and then hit another shoulder block off the ropes, again to a series of boos.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2004 10:39 PM

As excited as I am for Orton getting cheered (Just think of the "Randy!" chants that could occur if this guy EVER became a fan-favorite), I think much of it has to do with Edge's PISS POOR gimmick right now.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:43 PM

Orton began to walk to the back but Edge came out after him and attacked him from behind and brought him back to ringside and sent him into the ring. Orton then threw Edge over the top rope to the outside and admired what he just did. Orton sent Edge head first into the apron and then suplexed him inside. Orton made the cover for two and then pulled Edge's head against his knee.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:44 PM

Orton choked Edge out on the ropes and then stomped the abdomen of Edge on the mat. Orton hit a shot to the chest of Edge who was tied up in the ropes to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Orton snapmared Edge down and then wrenched on the neck and head of Edge. Faint boring chants can be heard as Edge fights back with a flying forarm and then a clothesline to knock Orton down.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2004 10:47 PM

Hmmmmm..............

This probably won't happen, but what if the same thing happens in the main-event? (the fans start cheering Triple H over Benoit).

The reason why I ask, is because I'm wondering if the WWE can slowly turn the ENTIRE Evolution as faces. It would be a strange thing to do, but I think it would be interesting.

New heels such as Kane, Benoit (who turns), and Edge (who turns) can take Evolution's spots as top heels.

Just a thought.

If people are already cheering Flair, Triple H, and now Orton apparently, is this really a farfetched thought?

Heyman 07-11-2004 10:50 PM

PREDICTION: Orton goes over cleanly.

Savio 07-11-2004 10:50 PM

Edge sent Orton to the ropes, but Orton held on and Edge clotheslined him to the outside. Edge then hit a baseball slide to knock Orton down who had picked up the Intercontinental title, and it went right into his face. Edge then hit a clothesline from the apron to knock Orton down again and then threw Edge back inside. Edge ascended the buckle and scored with a missle dropkick to boo's from the crowd for a two count.

Loose Cannon 07-11-2004 10:52 PM

TO HEYMAN'S POST:

Oh well. Atleast we'll see a future Christian/Edge feud. That could be worthwhile.

Savio 07-11-2004 11:00 PM

Orton locked in a rear chin lock on the mat, again focussing on the neck of Edge. Edge fought back to his feet but Orton pulled him down by the hair and hit a legdrop for two and then locked in a rear chin lock again, these guys are out there acting as if they have wreslted for an hour with all these restholds. The fans tried to get behind Edge but Orton kept him grounded.

A boring chant started as Orton grapevined the leg of Edge while still in the rear chin lock. Edge finally fought out and hit a cross body on Orton for two. Edge rolled up Orton for another two but Orton got right back up and knocked Edge down with a big clothesline. Orton got on the middle rope and jumped off, but Edge hit a dropkick to his mid section in mid air. Edge scored with a neckbreaker on Orton to a mixed reaction and both men are down on the mat.

Orton hit Edge with a thumb to the eye and the removed a turnbuckle pad and the referee went to retrieve it, and Edge had Orton rolled up but only got two. Orton then rolled Edge up for two and then hit a dropkick for another two count. Orton removed his elbow pad but Orton hit the Edgecution for two! Edge stumbled around the ring and went for some punches in the corner but Orton hot shotted Edge and rolled him up with his feet on the ropes for a two count!

The finish:

Orton went for the RKO but Edge shoved him off and went for the Spear but Orton leapfrogged it and Edge went face first into the buckle. Orton went for the RKO but Edge countered into a backslide for two! Edge sent Orton into the exposed buckle and hit the Spear and we have a NEW Intercontinental Champion in Edge!

Winner, and NEW Intercontinental Champion, Edge

But LC, what if they took the Intercontinental title off Orton for a reason? Maybe a world title push?

And no, I'm not being a smartass.

I-Hate-You 07-11-2004 11:01 PM

Someone put LC on a suicide watch.

Not neccessarily. If Batista squashes people a la Goldberg style, that could make fans like him.

Basically - I'm thinking that if Evolution turned face, they'd be at odds with Bischoff.

Bischoff could then have his new 'boys' (i.e. Kane, Christian, etc.) and try and ban Evolution from arena's etc.

I'd love to see Evolution invade Smackdown and piss off Angle. :D

Yeah, he'll get the World Title. He's still not ready though.

Post Match:

Orton got up and went to shakes Edges hand. Edge hesitated then stuck out his hand and they shook. Edge then spit in Orton Face and Edgecutioned him.

Heyman 07-11-2004 11:05 PM

So,

Out of Eugene, Jericho, Orton, and Kane, the WWE has decided to make EDGE their new Intercontinental champion.........a guy (who out of the aforementioned wrestlers) receives the most lukewarm reactions.

Batsu 07-11-2004 11:06 PM

I hope HHH jobs it out tonight....

...because that's the time for Kane to take the gold from Benoit. If they're gonna put it on a heel... I mean, hell, the WWE belt holder....

Savio 07-11-2004 11:06 PM

Orton got buried.

What was the crowd's reaction to the Edgecution?

I-Hate-You 07-11-2004 11:06 PM

Actually, Orton had a great run.

No clue not watching it. boo's maybe? Getting it from a website.

My Final Heaven 07-11-2004 11:07 PM

That match ending sounded like crap to me. Orton's supposed to be the Legend Killer, He took out Slaughter, Foley, Shelton Benjamin, CHRIS F'N JERICHO, & then he jobs to EDGE!?!??!!

Transplant 07-11-2004 11:07 PM

OK, A while ago, I was all like "WOOOO EDGE WON", but now I'm starting to realise why he's, not exactly boring, but doesnt have the charisma to carry a singles match.

BUT

It's about fuckin time Orton dropped that title. No offense to you "Orton Cock-suckers"

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't mind Orton losing, but to Edge? The guy receives lukewarm reactions. If you're going to have Orton job, atleast do it to a guy who's over. Like Eugene for instance.

He took out Slaughter back in November before he even got the belt.
