The Sims 2

It's out September 14th since it's gone gold now

You know, in case you need a birthday present for your little sister, or something :shifty:

Requiem 08-24-2004 09:41 PM

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll be buying it for myself. It looks good...

DS 08-24-2004 09:41 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty hyped for this. Pretty hot stuff in this one.

This will keep me busy until San Andreas comes out.

#BROKEN Hasney 08-24-2004 09:48 PM

genetics and aging look cool, but I remember how hyped up I was for the original with all it's promise, then was let down

I'll definatly give it a try at some point though

Funky Fly 08-24-2004 09:59 PM

I played the sims on GC. 15 minutes later, I returned it to the video store.

The Mackem 08-24-2004 10:01 PM

Man am I glad I didn't buy all those add on packs.

The console ones are far worse than the PC ones and I don't like the PC ones either

Gonzo 08-25-2004 01:04 AM

Sims get boring and stale after a few hours. At least to me they do. :-\

Funky Fly 08-25-2004 01:50 AM

I don't see the appeal.

Requiem 08-25-2004 02:03 AM

I think the appeal for me, was being able to run someone's life, including killing them if I wanted to.

Heh, apparantly, thats gonna be harder and be "realistic". Shame, because I used a Beavis and a Butthead skin and made them gay. OH THE HILARITY!

Just the killing aprt was interesting to me on the first one. Small room + mini bar + no way out = dieing in their own piss

Ninti the Mad 08-25-2004 10:34 AM

Hurry up already.

My girlfriend is pressuring me into buying it. :shifty:

tucsonspeed6 08-25-2004 09:37 PM

I love the sims....I haven't played it in about 6 months, but I love it!!! :shifty:

road doggy dogg 08-25-2004 10:21 PM

Yeah I dunno, I never really liked The Sims at all. Which is strange, since Sim City 3000 is one of my top 5 favourite games ever, and I really enjoy pretty much every Maxis game.

:$

Drakul 08-26-2004 12:15 AM

I had them all.....Then my pc destroyed a few of them by smashing them into little peices.EA told me to go screw myself cos it wasn't there fault. So I was gonna sell the rest of them but my mum GAVE them away
I doubt I'll be allowed to get Sims 2 cos my mum will think it'll mess the PC up again and I doubt my PC could handle it anyways.

Buzzkill 08-26-2004 12:18 AM

I really liked the Sims for about a month or so, then I sorta stopped playing. I probably won't be getting The Sims 2, as it seems to be pretty similar gameplay wise, just a bunch of added features and beefed up graphics.

Tornado 09-19-2004 05:31 PM

GOD

The people in my town are stupid. When we sell them the game, we specifically tell them PC games are non-returnable, and to ensure that the game will run on their system. We don't tell them to rush home, rip it open without looking at the back of the box or their machines spec, and install it only to find out it won't run.

Fucking Idiots.

DS 09-19-2004 05:35 PM

My friend had a videocard that wouldn't work and he brought it back after trying to install it and they gave him full credit back and he bought Fable. I want to do the same after I've installed the game.

Yeah we used to take returns on PC games, but the company changed it's policy as we were getting a LOT of PC returns, people were copying games a lot or some crap like that.

Disturbed316 09-19-2004 08:38 PM

Bought this yesterday

I've only been playing it a total of 5 hours and I'm already engaged :$

It is such a huge improvement from the first lot of games. The 3D engine is amazing, and I like all the new features it has. Top game

Xero 09-19-2004 08:56 PM

The game is great, I got it on Wedensday... Very fun, still getting the hang of it... :p

Ok.I suck at all the Pc specs stuff so does anyone know what specs your pc has to be for Sims 2 to work? I have Windows XP,does that mean it will work? Any help wil be great :y:

Drakul 09-19-2004 11:38 PM

Anyone know a site with loads of screenshots?

Gouda 09-20-2004 12:05 AM

Can you still invite your neighbours over, build a fence around them, and keep them as a pet? Becuase that was the biggest appeal of The Sims. Oh, and inviting neighbours into your pool and removing the ladder to get out.

DS 09-20-2004 12:12 AM

Processor: 800MHz or faster
RAM: 256 MB or more
Hard Drive: At least 3.5 of free space
Video: DirectX 9.0 compatible
Sound: DirectX 9.0 compatible

Video card must have 32 MB or more memory and one of these T&L capable chipsets
ATI Radeon 7200 or greater
NVIDIA GeForce2 or greater

Those are the minimum

Drakul 09-20-2004 02:05 AM

Since I found out my pc mau be able to run The Sims 2 I looked for screenshots for the first time. Now I want it more than GTA:SA or SDvsRaw!

those pics got me pretty interested.I like the sound of the whole babies thing.I didnt like the way the just popped up in the other games.

Mark:Hey,Mary. Why dont we try for a baby
Mary: Sure whatever.
Mark: ok *snaps fingers* There we go.

Anyways.I'm just going to look for more info.

Elder women cant make babies... I think elder men can, though, not sure...

Are you relaxing in bed first, then clicking the other sim?

Disturbed316 09-20-2004 03:13 PM

Whoot! Had some "whoo hoo" in the hot tub...twice :naughty:

Now I got two babies  Little boy and girl, called them Claire and David.

And what was the first thing the proud parents did? They put them on the floor

Also, my wife brought a friend home from work and look at what she was wearing:

Xero 09-20-2004 03:21 PM

LMAO! A NUDIST!

I've heard of people getting out of the shower naked cause something happened, but never someone comming onto the lot naked :p

HeartBreakMan2k 09-20-2004 10:39 PM

Ninti the Mad 09-21-2004 10:36 AM

BKUL-CS68-J6AT-37Y7-KX4F

It's well worth saying though that a bought copy of The Sims always reaps extra benefits like downloadables
</pre>

HeartBreakMan2k 09-21-2004 05:06 PM

Oh, I'm quite intent on buying it if I enjoy it. I've never enjoyed a sims game before, but have heard good things about this one and want to see it in action before paying the money for it. And thank you Hasney.

LK 09-21-2004 05:17 PM

Going a bit off topic can someone tall me the Red Alert Tiberian Sun serial number if you have it. I would really appreciate it if someone has it.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-21-2004 06:11 PM

Yeah, never liked the original Sims, I'm seriously loving this one though

Mike the Metal Ed 09-21-2004 06:17 PM

Is there a playable demo of it anywhere, I can't afford it right now, plus I wanna check if my PC can handle it.

Xero 09-21-2004 06:39 PM

No, no Demo, because I dont know how they would pull off a demo with this game... It's possible, but it wouldnt be good...

el fregadero 09-23-2004 03:39 PM

It doesn't work on my computer.

Stupid DS and his DVD version.

MrMeJW 09-23-2004 07:44 PM

My computer crashes whenever I play it... this is why I hate buying PC games

HeartBreakMan2k 09-24-2004 12:49 AM

Meh, I played it. Not really my thing, it's already uninstalled.

Ninti the Mad 09-24-2004 10:44 AM

Works great on mine.

MrMeJW 09-24-2004 12:21 PM

Yeah it used to work great for me but then I switched my graphics card and now the sims crash a few minutes into the game but all my other games work better then ever.

Disturbed316 09-24-2004 04:50 PM

:'( my wife just died. The kids are growing up wrong and I am coming to the end of my own life :'(

You need that elixir of life then

Tornado 09-24-2004 05:02 PM

LOL, my fiance "died" after a vigerous session of "Whoo Hoo", but being the stand up gent that my guy is, he pleaded for her life with Death, wh let her live. We're now engaged and expecting kid #1.

Drakul 09-24-2004 05:04 PM

I need to upgrade my pc.Isnt it about 30 or 40 pounds to upgrade?

Tornado 09-24-2004 05:09 PM

Well my graphics card, a 128MB 9200 Radeon was £30. Thats a pretty decent card, all you need to run it. As long as you've got a fairly decent processor and 200+ MB Ram you'll be fine.

Xero 09-24-2004 09:23 PM

My PC runs on this:

Processor: P4 3.06GHz
Card: GeForce FX 5200 128MB
Memory: 512MB

Mine runs great... Just a bit of slowdown when a vehicle comes onto the lot... I run it on 100% (All options set to full)...

Drakul 09-25-2004 02:01 AM

k :y:
I have to admit I want to play Sims 2 more than GTA:SA and SD Vs RAW :shifty:

The Mask 09-28-2004 12:29 PM

how long is the average life span on this?

like in actual human time

Team Sheep 09-28-2004 04:07 PM

What's the music like this time 'round? I seem to remember it being pretty annoying in the first one.

About the same, but you can put custom music in once again...

Team Sheep 09-28-2004 04:59 PM

Sounds really good, shame I'm skint :(

Team Sheep 10-02-2004 07:12 PM

Does anyone know how to buy a damn fridge?! When I click onto the buy mode, my appliances link has been disabled, so my sims have been living off pizza

Jonster 10-02-2004 07:44 PM

Maybe because you've selected a room that has no appliances.
I noticed the buy mode is a bit more confusing with it's filters.

Team Sheep 10-02-2004 09:26 PM

Oh ye, I've worked it out now, cheers
