VonErich Lives 10-03-2004 10:14 PM

Astros over Braves 3-0
Cards over Dodgers 3-2

Yanks over Twins 3-2
Sox over Angels 3-1

Card over Astros 4-3
Sox over Yanks 4-1

Sox over Cards 4-2

I still like my pick from the begining of the season of Astros v. Sox... part of it depends on if they pitch Clemens Oswalt on 3days rest all series, if they do, I think they have a better shot against the Cards.

Picking Sox over the yanks... not cause I'm a "homer", cause most years I don't pick them... I just think Pedro will step it up, and Wake looked good yesterday and that gives them a solid 4man rotation, and I wouldn't be shocked to see them stick w/ a 3man rotation... and the Yanks don't seem to have the pitching right now... of course if Kevin Brown pitches anything like he can... it's a whole new ballgame.

I admit, the Card pitching does scare me... but time will tell.

It's gotta happen sooner or later. We haven't won in 150 some-odd years and we're finally built the right way: Pitching and Defense (and it doesn't hurt to have the 2 best HR hitters in the AL at #3 and 4 in the lineup)

I'll assume you mean sox over 4-1.

yeah, I am...

I figure they will have take 1 out of 2 in NY and take the 3 at home.

Most likely, Schill, Pedro, Aroyyo, Schilling, Pedro or Wake.

I just don't see NY w/ the pitching or fire power to do it, unless Kevin Brown sudenly becomes the KB of a few years ago.

The key for the Yanks is Rivera and the Sox have shown their the 1 team that can get to him.

Sensei Of Mattitude 10-04-2004 10:36 PM

This I know for sure........ THE RED SOX WILL NOT WIN THE WORLD SERIES

I used to cheer for them, especially against the Yankees, but since going to school in Boston and knowing their fans first hand... I decided that I hate them and I don't want them to get the World Series.

I know this.... The YANKEES will NOT win the World Series, either. The New York Yankees have not won the World Series while a Republican has been in the White House since 1957 (Dwight Eisenhower). Currently and (for the future) George W. Bush is the President of the United States.

Angels? They've won.

Twins? I'd like to see them do it.

Fuck the Braves. Fuck Rolen and the Cards. Clemens? Nah, who cares?

Twins vs Dodgers

OK quick picks :?

NL
St. Louis over LA 3-1
I can't see what not to like about the Cards, 1-8 is strong, solid pitching, the only chance the Dodgers have maybe keeping it close, since Gagne is a monster. But with Pujols, Rolen and Walker all capable of the long ball, I don't see that happening. I really think that this is the time where Renteria starts to wake up as well.

Houston over Atlanta 3-0
Atlanta has been horrid in Turner over the last several years. I can see Clemens and Oswalt taking over the games in Hotlanta, leaving a relatively easy take out in Houston. Altanta can manufacture runs, but if they do keep it close, Lidge...

AL
Minnesota over New York 3-1
To be honest, I though Yankees on this one. They swept the last home series with the Twins, and I didn't see anything on Mini over Santana. Then I looked at it; NY is usually a slow starting team in the playoffs. This is no big deal for them and are likely to scare. I was still looking at NY to win in 5, but the way I figure, Santana takes the first, but NY splits the at home. I feel that Minni with Silva can take out a struggling Hernandez for their home playoff opener, which leaves game 4 with Santana again. That's the series.

Boston over Annaheim 3-2
This is the series, I could go either way. Both teams have run building and long ball capablilties. I love to see Vlady and Ramirez take batting practice out there. Bo-sox have it on the starting pitchers, not even close in the pen. I see Boston wins building out of the shoot, where Angels' wins are won in the stretch. IMO the advantage goes to D, and I like Boston's D over the second half. I think Sox will leave less players in scorring position, and will end up with a slight edge. Best series by far.

The Outlaw 10-05-2004 02:46 PM

Atlanta at home:

49-32 in '04
55-26 in '03

BCWWF 10-05-2004 03:29 PM

Here's my picks...Guess who wins!!!

AL:
Boston vs. Anaheim
Boston in 4-5.
Everybody is jumping on the Angels saying "they're so hot, yada yada yada" But the Red Sox are clearly the better team. Even Pedro not at his 100% best is better than Colon. Sure the Angels have Vlad who is so hot right now, but the Red Sox have Manny, Ortiz, and an overall better lineup.

Minnesota vs New York
Minnesota in 5
On SportsCenter and every other national news service, they say that Santana hasn't performed well against the Yankee's and make up some stat from the playoffs last year. In fact he won game 1 pitching very well, and Mussina was really good last year. Then in his second game he had an elbow problem (which he had surgery on and it affected him this season aswell) so he didn't do so hot. He tore the Yankee's a new hole earlier this year. The Yankee's have a great hitting lineup, but Santana and Radke are both capable of shutting that down. The Twins can always find a way to win a game, and frankly this Yankee's team doesn't have it.

NL:
St. Louis vs. LA Dodgers
St. Louis in 4
I would have loved to see this in the next round, because I think it would have been a much better series then. In the first round I can't see LA having enough momentum to get past the Cards.

Houston vs. Atlanta
Atlanta in 5
This one is hard to choose, and as much as I would have liked to see the Astro's get through their hex and win a playoff series, I think that the Braves are just that much stronger. Houston came back in the end of the season, but when I look at them they don't look like they are as much of a team as the Braves.

ALCS
Boston vs. Minnesota
Minnesota in 7
Obvously the Red Sox are cursed. This will be a huge series and crazy things will happen. They always do at Fenway. Its hard to find reasoning for why the Twins will win this series, but they will.

NLCS:
Cardinals vs Braves
Cards in six
This could be a really good series, but honestly the Cards are just too good. The Braves are good enough to win two, but I can't see them winning any more. There starting pitching isn't that great is it? I hear all the "The Cards don't have the pitching" but I don't think any other team in the NL has blatantly better pitching.

World Series
Cards over Twins in 7
A rematch of 1987 World Series, but in the end the Cards will figure out Santana for a game and just overpower Radke, Silva, and whoeever else goes in.

BCWWF 10-05-2004 03:30 PM

This is the 1930's Scarface though, like the original. Even so. Meh.

Yashamaga 10-05-2004 03:38 PM

Damn it's 6-0 Cards in the 3rd

el fregadero 10-05-2004 03:41 PM

lol

BCWWF 10-05-2004 03:45 PM

Thats how the whole playoffs is going to be for them. They have four guys who have the potential to homer at every at-bat, so they are bound to score at least 2 runs a game. Add in the rest of their team and they are bound to put up at least 2 more. And thats a bad game.

Rain Man 10-05-2004 04:47 PM

7-2 in the Top of the 3rd.. Damnit

Rain Man 10-05-2004 05:34 PM

Damn Dodgers just hit a HR top of the 9th 2 outs. Sox already with a run

He's far from fat and out of shape... He's a big pitcher, Clemens type... but there a difference between a Schilling or Clemens and a El Guapo or Wells or even Colon (haven't seen him recently, incase he dropped the weight he put on).

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-05-2004 09:16 PM

Yea not saying he is Wells or anything but he isn't exactly "in shape" either. I really think he will be fine, he probably just tweaked it. Like you said it has been nagging him for a while so hopefully it won't be too serious.

He isn't like Clemens either, Clemens is pretty jacked..atleast lately

I think you'd be suprised how "in shape" schill actually is....

But hey... Wells was fat and hungover and threw a no-hitter!

So, is it wrong of me to root for the Angels to win tomorrow cause I have tix Saturday and wanna be there for the 3rd win? :D

No, they play a lot of things like player profiles, memorable games, Mike and Mad Dog (SportsRadio show in NY that I absolutely love) interview shows and other things. It's not all about the Yankees eathier, just most of it is. Mike and Mad Dog is everything in sports. But they focus on NY sports a bit more I think.

FakeLaser 10-07-2004 12:28 AM

God damn it the Yankees suck. :(

Loose Cannon 10-07-2004 12:43 AM

UH OH

Loose Cannon 10-07-2004 12:44 AM

JETER SCORES YANKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES WIIIINNNNNNNN

HAVE IT.

FakeLaser 10-07-2004 12:54 AM

Damn it Jeter rules. I can't believe he scored on that shit.

BCWWF 10-07-2004 12:58 AM

Fuckin' A. Typical Yankee's, just like two years ago when we went up by three in the 14th, and then Giambi hit a walk-off grand slam to win it. Fuckin A.

Hell, we've already shut out the Yankee's and made Rivera blow a save, we still have the upper hand in this series. Don't get too cocky just because Jacque Jones lobbed er in.

BCWWF 10-07-2004 12:59 AM

He scored because Jacque threw the ball as soft as he possibly could. That was the perfect hit for the Twins, Jones runs in and should have the momentum to nail Jeter at the plate early. Hunter did it from further out last night and no momentum and Jacque decides to lob it to the cutoff man.

Innovator 10-07-2004 01:06 AM

Heart attack number 1 of the postseason is officially over, thank you Jericho for the Yankees W

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-07-2004 01:08 AM

I dunno, I think Jones's arm is outta gas

el fregadero 10-07-2004 01:09 AM

Jacque should have gone straight home, not to the cut-off guy.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-07-2004 01:09 AM

Anybody see the Sox game, Colon walks in a run. Ortiz up, bases still load (obviously) 2 outs, DUMBASS Bellhorn snoozing on 2nd base gets thrown out by the catcher

WATTTAADICK

BCWWF 10-07-2004 01:10 AM

I don't think he thought Jeter would even test it, I didn't either, but you can't be stupid like that in the playoffs, especially the bottom of the inning.
