--Shannon Moore defeated Akio.

--Luther Reigns defeated Ricky Vega.

--Rob Van Dam pinned one of the Basham Brothers.

--The Dudley Boyz defeated the FBI (Nunzio and Stamboli).

Smackdown (Air Date: 10/7/04):

--Smackdown opens with John Cena, who said he has to give Booker T his respect. He talked about the Red Sox and the Patriots and made fun of Michael Cole.

--Carlito Caribbean Cool then came out and said that it would be cool if John Cena fought him for the United States title. After a brief argument, Carlito went to grab the belt but Cena pulled it away and hit Carlito with a DDT.

--Teddy Long came out and announced the main event Cena vs. Cool for the United States championship.

--Rey Mysterio defeated Kenzo Suzuki.

--Hardcore Holly defeated WWE champion John Bradshaw Layfield by countout.

--Paul Heyman and Teddy Long argued with Long saying he didn't agree with what Paul Heyman and Heindenreich did to the Undertaker at the PPV.

--Kurt Angle did a promo saying he wasn't at 100% at No Mercy against Big Show.

--Teddy Long announced that JBL will defend the WWE championship against Hardcore Holly in a Hardcore Match.

--Big Show defeated Mark Jindrak. Kurt Angle did commentary. Eddie Guerrero attacked Luther Reigns and stopped him from interfering.

--Josh Matthews interviewed Carlito Caribbean Cool who said it would be cool when he becomes United States champion.

--Billy Kidman vs. Charlie Haas - DQ/no contest, as the bell never rang. Kidman wouldn't do the shooting star press but hit the BK Bomb on Miss Jackie. Rico ran out for the save.

--Heidenrech came out and read a poem in the ring, then jumped into the crowd and threw some "fans" on the ground.

--Booker T ran into Orlando Jordan backstage. Jordan is being nice to him. Booker tells him never to touch him and if he does, "It's all over, sucka"

--Carlito Caribbean Cool defeated John Cena to become to new United States Champion.

He's been pushed for the past 4 weeks in vingettes, so they have done the best they can to get him known, from what I understand he has generated some good heat recently and beating one of the top faces in the company by cheating is a pretty good way to push a guy who you want to be a top heel.

I just thought,in the WWE how many titles are around heel's waists at the moment?

The least they could have done was run something where something was off at the PPV and Cena was stripped of the title and it was given back to Booker, or had Booker win it back, or even someone else, but CCC!?

I agree 100% with the move to give CCC the belt. I said a while back in the Smackdown Spoiler thread when he first showed up that he would get over with this gimmick. Cena doesn't need the Title nor does this really hurt his credibility because he is so over. Why not make a superstar while your at it. I'm sick of them bringing in the new guys and they do shit. Why would you build someone up for weeks only to have them be jobbed out 3 weeks after they debut? Make a statement right away with the young talent and if that means giving him the U.S. Title, then so be it.

WWE needs to build its young stars right now. The only two new youngs that have looked strong so far have been Orton and Cena. Now CCC looks real strong and you know he's not messing around. I say they booked him right.

I agree with you there with lettin the new guy do somethin but really what are they goin to do with him next. He beat Cena, he is the new U.S. champ. There really isn't any real legit feuds for him after Cena is gone. Not unless the WWE does the same ole thing again which is have a #1 contender's match for teh U.S. title.

Man I miss teh days of real feuds which would result in a match. Sometimes not for the title and other times for the title. Like Jericho and HBK. It started in December and they didn't meet until WM XIX. That was good. A nice runnin feud.

Here's how I would book this for the next few weeks. Have him come out next week unannounced during a crap match and just grab a mic and start talking. He talks about how cool he is because he won a Title in his first ever match in the WWE. He asks how many wrestlers how ever done that? He says, "That's right, none, because nobody is as cool as me." The fans will have forgotten about Gail Kim or whomever else won the Title in their first match anyway. Then you just have him go on about how cool he is.

End of Segment.

The next week, he beats someone really quick in a match, grabs the mic again and is like "Is this the best and coolest the WWE has to offer?" Is there really no one else in that locker room who is a cool as me?

**RVD's music hits and out comes the one guy who personifies "cool' in the WWE. There is your feud.

As for CCC winning the belt....I think its pretty cool. I like the guy. I think I might actually tune in to see this match.

You know, they did a great job of building up the US Title since it debuted.

They had a tournament. They gave it to Eddie Guerrero. Big Show didn't need it, but it didn't devalue the title, either. Then it was John Cena, a future main eventer. Then Booker T, an industry veteran.

Now they give it to ... a guy who just debuted? I don't know much about Triple C, but... couldn't they have at least waited a month at the next PPV to build up Carlito's credibility at least.

Ah, well. I suppose I could wait and see how this turns out.

Well, not sure what to think about all of this. I'll have to wait until the show to see how it goes down, but you have the most popular guy on the SD roster (besides Taker) get jobbed to a rookie, for his belt. And the belt, he had just won 2/4 days before this match. I don't really agree with this, but have to wait to see the show to really judge.

I am not to sure about CCC as champion but I have seen nothing from him so I will keep my thoughts for then. One thing that does stick out though is he used a chain to win it wasnt clean or anything so it could be very good if booked right and if he has the skills. Most people bitch about rookies not being pushed well you cant get a much better push than this.

Also guys it wasnt like Splaya said what title changed hands on the show. It could have been any of three so quit bitching and get on with life.

Process of elimination. Do you think JBL was gonna job the title on SMACKDOWN? No. When someone says "title" it almost exclusively rules out the tag team division. So whats left? Gee, I wonder.

People will usually get pissed when you post a spoiler without saying that it is. So I think people are justified for being pissed when someone says "Smackdown title change" in the topic title.

If you dont want absolutely any of your viewing ruined by spoilers why come to a wrestling discusssion board where a lot of spoilers are posted. I agree, it is my choice to come to this, a wrestling discussion board, but most people would appreciate a spoiler warning with a title that will not inadvertenly post some sort of spoiler in itself. If I know that spoiler information is going to be contained in a topic, and the topic title courteously states what is contained, I won't read it. I'm sure people would appreciate having the option.

Some guys are untouchable when it comes to doing JOBs. Best examples are Rock and Foley. Those two guys could lose every night to everyone on the roster and people will still go crazy for them. Cena isn't over to their level yet, but he's about the closest thing the WWE has to one of those guys, at least of the younger guys (atker and HBK could JOB every night and they would still be over).

I agree with what LC was saying. They made a new star, and it wont hurt Cena a bit. Especially if he's off TV shooting his movie. I mean he's already one of the most over guys on either roster, if he's off TV for a month or so, people will still see him as a huge star when he comes back. Cena needs to move up anyway, so this is a good way to get the ball rolling. Or at the very least, Cena has a new program to come back to.

As for where to go with CCC, I think RVD/Rey might be staying as a team for the time being. But there are plenty of other options. You could go to BT (whose turning face), you got Haas, and Chavo will be a face when he comes back, so they could do something.

I hope the Booker Jordan confrontation leads to Booker T vs JBL.

With Booker going over of course.

What is really fucking stupid tho is this whole CCC. In australia, we dont get the vignettes u guys get, so the only thing i've ever seen about him was when Paul Heyman wrestled Funaki (and heidenriech raped Mitchell Cole (Y2J ref)). They showed the end of him promo video...and that was it!

Fruthermore, we saw none of the Mr.Benjamin vignettes and have not seen any simon dean vignettes either.

Anyway, muy hope for smackdown is 2 months down the road....

First of all, the whole "paid his dues" thing is crap. Anyone who's made it to the WWE has obviously paid their dues (with the exception of the Tough Enough kids, and they aren't even getting pushes so it doesn't matter). The WWE is the top of the top, and when you get there, you've paid your fucking dues.

And the whole thing about ruining Cena's rep is even bigger bullshit. Being the average WWE fan, you probably don't remember how John Cena himself debuted: victories over Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle in his first two fucking matches. That's how you debut a wrestler with great potential. Did Cena's wins over Jericho and Angle hurt their careers? Let's see: Jericho is (arguably) the top face on RAW, and Kurt Angle is (arguably) the best heel on Smackdown.

I'm glad they did something unexpected like have Cena drop the title so soon and to a debuting worker. It makes for exciting TV, and puts Carlito in a position to prove himself, which I'm sure he will in the coming weeks.

HUGE PROPS to the WWE for giving CCC that push.

That came off perfect on TV. Not just the match, but all of CCC's segments. The backstage promo was excellent. CCC definatel has "It." You could tell by that promo and the way he delievered his lines. He knows how to use expressions, which as just as important as words and he knows how to use timing when speaking.

His work in the ring is decent and will only get better. I loved how he asked the ref to put the US Title on him at the end and I loved how he stole Cena's chain. His outfit is really cool too with that white Hawian shirt he had on He looked.....well he looked "Cool."

Only problem I have with him is his theme. The theme is way too slow. It needs a little more pace IMO. Also, I hate the way it just stops half way through and he says his phrase. Sounds wierd.

But, CCC is a huge + all together.

RVD has been buried to hell so many times that being champ won't really help him. With CCC, he was just in the right place at the right time. He looks strong as ever now and that's what the WWE needs. strong characters. Why would they push Carlito in all those videos, bring him to TV and do nothing with him. Now that makes zero sense to me. This isn't 1994 anymore. You can't give guys slow pushes. You have to make an impact right away and they did exactly that. "Deserves" should not even be questioned in this day and age. Who's to say "wrestler x" doesn't deserve a shot?

Cena is sooooooooooo over that this loss won't even affect him. He'll go do his movie, come back and probably be feuding with someone like Kurt. No effect at all. The WWE just made a potential star tonight and yet we're complaining. Isn't this what you guys want? I know it's what I want.

I 1000% agree. I mean, look at Goldberg and regal. Regal didnt let him win easily because he said Goldberg hadn't "paid his dues". Therefore, goldberg should have jobbed for 2 months or something?

You have to give what the fans want, that is how you spark interest, and the rise and rise of goldberg did that.


CCC is a similar thing. It might be slightly unfair to someone like RVD who is busting his arse and hasnt got the title, but then, what exactly does a title show?

Goldberg was different as he was quite physically built and really athletic.The streak was something that was never seen before in pro wrestling.I just saw Carlito and what does he have beeter then most guys.

First of all, I'm a huge RVD fan and I think his recent demotion to Velocity is utter bullshit, but that doesn't mean I should be bitter towards every other debuting worker who gets a push. It's an injustice, yes, but life in the WWE is not fair.

Second, Kurt Angle DID recieve this kind of push, and won the European Championship in one of his first televised matches in the WWE. He also went on a legitimate undefeated streak, until being beaten by Tazz at Royal Rumble 2000. When the WWE sees great potential and talent in a wrestler, they give them the mega push and sometimes it works (Cena, Angle, Mysterio, Austin) and sometimes it doesn't (Tazz, Mordecai, Mark Henry).

The best of 5 series wasn't even that great, so the fact that he won doesn't really mean anything. It's not like Cena was squashed on Smackdown, and if he was then my opinion would be much different. Cena did lose, but he did it to put over an up and comer, just as Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho did for him.

Um yeah onlt one title was on the line.

This is the right thing to do IMO, and even if this failed, I wouldn't fault the company in this instance for putting effort.
