New Jets Stadium

Dunno if all of you have seen this yet or not, but the Jets are going to get a new stadium in NEW YORK CITY by like 2011 or something. So finally they won't have to play at GIANTS STADIUM in NEW JERSEY, the most degrading shit ever.

http://nyscc.newyorkjets.com/index.php

Check it out, it is so hot. Gonna rule.

OssMan 10-25-2004 06:45 PM

it is a giant rectangle

Supreme Olajuwon 10-25-2004 06:48 PM

holy shit thats sweet

Its like the most uneccesary thing ever

Who gives a shit about the shape. Football fields are rectangle. It looks hot.

OssMan 10-25-2004 06:52 PM

gonna be a lot of traffic in Manhattan.

also ARTIFICIAL TURF. booooo

and it needs a different name. the "New York Sports And Convention Center" is retarded.

Triple A 10-25-2004 06:53 PM

It's not going to be shitty Astroturf. It will be like fake grass.

Will it be Nex Turf like the Vikings have.

BungeeWithNoCord 10-25-2004 06:57 PM

yea there going to use it for 2012 Olympic ploy to get the olymics to New York.. even though that means the city will lose a shitload of money

BungeeWithNoCord 10-25-2004 06:59 PM

I also believe its going to be partially solar powered

wich would explain the solar panels

Gonzo 10-25-2004 07:01 PM

Real turf in this climate is impossible. Giants Stadium had it for a while and it was absolutely horrible even with cleats.

FearedSanctity 10-25-2004 07:06 PM

Cardinals new stadium > Jets new stadium

Gonzo 10-25-2004 07:06 PM

Nicer weather. Got a link?

BCWWF 10-25-2004 07:13 PM

Yeah I am excited for this, the concept of a stadium right on Manhattan is key. Nothing wrong with Giants Stadium, for the Giants. The Jets are cooler and now they get a metropolitan Stadium. I like it.

Please tell me that you can take your boat out and watch the game on that huge screen from the ocean. That would be amazing

Gonzo 10-25-2004 07:19 PM

That is pretty god damn sweet. The AZ stadium looks nice.

The Jets stadium will be nice too. My boss has season tix and he got a huge poster and pamphlet on it. Whole bunch of shit is going in. Multiple buildings and shit. Going to be sweet for Jets fans.

BCWWF 10-25-2004 07:20 PM

The Cards Stadium has a cool design, but I like the Jets better for a handful of reasons.

One, the Cardinals is in Arizona, the Jets are in New York. The surroundings of the Arizona stadium are what hold it down IMO. The stadiums with an ocean of parking lots around it don't do it for me, I much prefer the stadium right in the city, where you can see the skyscrapers and stuff in the background. While the Cards stadium is just a sweet building in the middle of a desert, New Yorks is right in a metropolitan area right on the ocean with huge screens on each side etc. That will be tight.

Also, the Cardinals stadium, to me, just has a bunch of random stuff that doesn't really seem to serve a purpose. For example moving the field out in front of the building when they aren't using it, does that matter?

FearedSanctity 10-25-2004 07:27 PM

Maybe the reason for the Cards retractable field is the same as the Jets removeable field?

Are you kidding?

BungeeWithNoCord 10-25-2004 08:08 PM

No

BCWWF 10-25-2004 08:10 PM

The Arizona stadium has a big hole in the end so that they can slide the whole field, still intact, out in front of the stadium. Normal stadiums roll the turf up like you would a carpet and store it below the seats. Understand now Timmy?

BungeeWithNoCord 10-25-2004 08:11 PM

yes it uber sucks to go to a Jets game and have to stare at the sign that says "Giants Stadium"

but it must suck for giant fans who are all woohoo Giants Stadium.. but theres a picture of the NEW York Sack Exchange right next to the Giants Stadium sign

whos Timmy?

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-25-2004 08:42 PM

They slide the field out of the stadium? What?

I have never heard of anything like this

Loose Cannon 10-25-2004 09:07 PM

Jets Stadium in NY = The Goods.

BUT.....Here's the catch.

It's not just going to be a Jets Stadium. There's going to be a Nascar Track  :foc: and other shit as well. It's all going to be within this giant Mega Plex or whatever the hell you call it.

NO PARKING EATHIER  Or so I've heard.

The Icon of Elisim 10-25-2004 09:17 PM

Whats with the rainbow? And did they really have to design it with people actually walking around outside, sorta jinxing it IMO.

Look at the pictures, I read about it too. You see how at the North endzone (I assume its North) there aren't any stands and then there is a big open area going outside...they slide the actual football field outside. I forget if it is to dry it out or what, some random reason, but yeah they do slide it out.

Also, Loose Cannon, where is the Nascar track going to be? If I am thinking right I think a traditional track is 2 miles around, so when you add stands and stuff that would be almost a fourth of the island.

You are a fucking idiot. There's a ton of shit around the Cards stadium. It's gonna be in a plaza with the new Yotes arena (built) and a shopping center (not built), plus a concert venue, and it's in a newer suburban area, and everything will build around it, plus we get the Super Bowl in 08.

So shut the fuck up when you don't know what you're talking about.

FakeLaser 10-26-2004 01:19 AM

Lookin pretty sharp.

Loose Cannon 10-26-2004 01:21 AM

A Stadium is also being built for the Nets too. Brooklyn. Lots of things heading to NY.

Triple A 10-26-2004 01:54 AM

CALM DOWN WADDING.

ive heard nothing of a Nascar track....i dont think you could have 1 mile track around the outside of the field... unless you mean theres going to be a huge complex and a Nascar track next to the stadium?

Also I heard no parking=no tailgating

Actually if you look at the picture, it is surrounded by parking lots. I don't give a fuck if there other stuff around it, I don't like when stadiums are just in the middle of a big parking lot. Don't break a sweat buddy.

DaveWadding 10-26-2004 03:46 AM

Hey, by the way, that's a concept photo you moron.

Triple A 10-26-2004 04:03 AM

LOL spazzing out.

BabyHugger 10-26-2004 04:27 AM

Hey Dave Wadding, Arizona sucks. The stadium rules though, so at least they will have something nice for once in that giant waste of a state.

BCWWF 10-26-2004 05:38 AM

Ever since Sir Charles left, Daves been the best they've had.

Loose Cannon 10-26-2004 09:31 AM

The thing about Nascar was in this Sports Marketing Mag. my class subscribes too. Hope they don't built that shit.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 10-26-2004 09:09 PM

Wadding is getting fired up over the Cardinals Stadium lol

Anyways no tailgating is stupid, but I would expect New Yorkers not to tailgate for some reason.

BCWWF 10-27-2004 12:24 AM

I'm sure this was mentioned on the website, but I didn't see it...where exactly is the stadium? Like walking distance of central park or anything? One of those parks could work if they were close enough.

Triple A 10-27-2004 12:30 AM

It's like near the Empire State building.

BCWWF 10-27-2004 12:59 AM

Looking at it again, there is a whole section on the Stadium Tour section of that website that explains the whole tailgating situation.

Loose Cannon 10-27-2004 11:31 AM

So I've decided to write my Sports Marketing paper on the new Jets Stadium. Should be a riot.

Also, I never tailgate.

Tailgating does seem like a midwestern thing for some reason. Like when I think of tailgating I think Green Bay Packers or one of the Ohio teams.

Nervous Ferret 04-13-2005 03:18 PM

*update*!!

The Jets won the "land" to where they're gunna build the stadium a few weeks ago. And like yesterday they said "if" the city approves the stadium Jets are getting the 2010 Superbowl~~!!! They still have to "build it" though. Can't play a Superbowl on a bunch of railroad tracks.

OssMan 04-13-2005 03:59 PM

Stupid fucking Giants want a new stadium also. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Giants Stadium. Why are they so stupid

BCWWF 04-13-2005 05:28 PM

They should just renovate it. The Vikings want a stadium, but if they get one its not going to be for a LONG time. I think they should just renovate the Metrodome. The Vikes are an indoor team, and thats all there is to it.

OssMan 04-13-2005 05:47 PM

They are saying they want to tear down Giants Stadium and just build another one in the Meadowlands. Its on Giants.com. Fucking stupidest shit ever. The only thing i can see them getting out of it is a stadium with a retractable roof, but what the fuck. Nobody cares.

Nervous Ferret 04-13-2005 05:51 PM

Yeah I heard rennovation for the Giants. But then for those 2 years, or however long it's gunna take...where are they gunna play? NOT NYSCC!!

OssMan 04-13-2005 06:02 PM

Probably Albany if they cant use NYSCC

Jacko 04-13-2005 08:04 PM

That's one nice mother fucking stadium.

Wembley > This though :D

Gonzo 04-13-2005 08:57 PM

Haha Giants Stadium is old. 30 years old in a year or so to be exact. The contract with the New Jersey Sports Authority was for them to keep it upgraded which they have not. They breached their contract with the Giants and therefore we are entitled one by the contract. The Giants would completely fund their stadium to be rebuilt at the Meadowlands, where they want to stay.

This would save the state of New Jersey $30 Million a year. Plus they would be getting $27 Million back from the construction of the new stadium. Basically New Jersey is being a prick about it.

Nervous Ferret 04-13-2005 09:00 PM

yeah, so. Comes with the territory.

[/New Jerseyan right hurrr]

Gonzo 04-13-2005 09:06 PM

Its pathetic is what it is, they finally molded out a plan then New Jersey steps in and says they want to tax ticket revenue on luxury boxes. Huge source of income and is usually untaxed in any stadium.

Nervous Ferret 04-13-2005 09:07 PM

yep. Cheapest gas in the U.S.A. Only in New Jersey. Only 1.98 per gallon as of 10 seconds ago.

Gonzo 04-13-2005 09:08 PM

Yeah, they might as well give my paychecks to the gas stations in the surrounding areas. God knows I don't see a god damn dime.

BCWWF 04-14-2005 01:15 AM

Is NYSCC the new Jets place?

Nervous Ferret 04-15-2005 03:00 PM

yeah. New York Sports and Convention Center.

Nervous Ferret 06-21-2005 02:37 AM

WTF NO. NOT GUNNA HAPPEN.

But I here the Giants have vacancy in their new stadium. :(
