NCAA Hoops
I couldn't find an old thread, but I had to say something about Mizzou beating Gonzaga tonight.
We had a slow non-conference season, which was expected because we had a few decent teams and a lot of freshman, but now it looks as if things might be coming together and we may have a chance at getting into the big dance. Gonzaga was on a 7 game win streak coming into today with wins over OSU and Georgia Tech, so this is a pretty big game. Also we hung with Illinois a few weeks ago. |
Let down game for Gonzaga tonight. After beating two #3 teams, they probably thought they wouldn't have to show up and still could win. They were almost right too.
Turiaf is a beast though. He kinda looked similar to the godfather haha |
He was shut down last night though, only 6 pts. I don't know if you watched the game, but the last three minutes or so were so poor on the part of both teams. I don't think any FGs were made.
6 points? Yeah I think it said he shot 2-15 or something, crazy.
He's usually dominant. He scored 40 earlier in the year. He's pretty nasty. |
How about that Kansas win over Georgia Tech yesterday? I'm not really a fan of GT.
I was flipping between that and something else, it was a close game. What was the final?
Dunno, Kansas in OT by two I think
Nice.
This season is crazy, theres been a bunch of big games lately. Tonights Illinois/Wisconsin game was real good, I don't know if anybody watch the Rutgers/Syracuse game, but it came down to the last shot, real good game.
Rutgers/Cuse was some straight up bull stuff. Rutgers top two scorers had 4 within two minutes into the second half and had to sit. They were beating the crap out of CUse too.
From what I've read and from what my dad told me anyway :o |
Can't wait for the tourny ,like every year. This year though there is a bunch of good teams who seem to be on the same level, so should be a good tourny.
Boston College baby
There was a poll on ESPN.com asking which undefeated team would be the first to lose, and BC was overwhelmingly the choice. I voted for Duke, in my opinion BC would probably be the last to lose. Kansas plays in the Big XII with OSU, OU, UT, MU etc. Illinois would have been more likely too, Wisconsin, Michigan State etc, personally I voted for Duke because you can't go undefeated in the new ACC. I was wrong it turns out, but just because BC is the worst team doesn't mean they are going to lose any time soon. They already have the best of the Big East done with.
Nobody is giving Boston College any credit because they usually aren't good. It's not like all those other teams are head and shoulders above BC. BC is pretty solid all around. Upfront with Smith, then in the backcourt with Dudley.
The big thing about BC is that even though they aren't the best team in the Big East (by most peoples opinions at least), they could pretty easilly win it outright. They already upset UConn and now have Syracuse and Pitt at home.
They almost lost to Providence tonight.
Duke went down. Bama beat the Barn by 5 or so after leading by 15. Auburn was awarded the tainted PNC at halftime... |
Whats the PNC?
Peoples National Championship for football. And the funny thing about it they cut the voting short due to USC almost taking it.
Oh no, USC took it.
http://www.al.com/forums/tide/index.ssf?artid=770988 That's a link for the whole story. The funny thing is, they are getting giddy over a national championship award by two small town newspapers but they give us hell for claiming one from Billingsley or Sagarin or Dunkel. Ours are, at least, legitimate, using the criteria of the day. |
Who should be the Division 1-A National Champion?
USC|22892 Oklahoma|4833 Auburn|19764 Utah|971 Boise State|998 </PRE> ^Original resultsss </PRE> |
LOL OMG did anybody see that JJ Redick thing on SportsCenter. He talked about how Maryland fans make fun of him and sounded like such a pussy and then he read his unbelievably awful poetry which reminded me of Kip Dynamite. Seriously I hate this guy so much more now.
Haha yeah I saw that too. I never really had an opinion on him, so I kind of felt for him, but meh. Pretty good game by Maryland.
The Mizzou/Oklahoma game today was so much fun. I felt sick so I wasn't sure if I was going to go, but I ended up and it was so worth it. The first half OU broke away and went up by like 14 points, then we came back and it was crazy, then we went down by 10 again, and came back again! After Jason Conley jumped the scorers table the crowd got crazy and totally messed with OU. We should have won it in regulation, but OT was just as good. I rushed and got onto the floor, they have these elderly people who just stick their arms out and don't do anything. By far the most fun game of the season (I wasn't there for the win over Gonzaga). I think next year we will have a shot at making the tourny. It was also kind of cool because OU has three Minnesotan guys, one, Lawrence McKenzie, is pretty good and I saw him play when he was a senior at Patrick Henry in 2002. So that was cool too. I just can't wait for March Madness, I am dying to fill out the brackets and sit watching games all day. I hope we get ESPNU here too, that will be huge for Championship Week. |

JJ Redick is the biggest bitch in college basketball
I dunno. I always seem to like guys who have a little swag to em. He can be a "bitch" all he wants when he shoots 95% from the FT line and 42% from downtown.
What about a guy who turns the ball over and bricks an open 3 in the final 20 seconds of a Final Four game?
Can't hit em all I don't guess...:-\
Unless your name is Antoine Pettway. |
Fred Hoiberg
Ok, rushing the court has lost any kind of meaning to it. If it's an upset I see the point in it, but when the #6 teams beats the #9 team, it is pretty pointless.
You only rush if you are unranked and beat a ranked team, or if it is a big rivalry, ie Missouri and Kansas. Which one are you referring to?
Referring to BC beating Syracuse last night
It was the biggest win in BC's history at home. Classic shit though, BC solidifies itself with a big win and people are instead talking about how the fans rushed the court. Haters |
Thats tight, I don't like Syracuse.
Boston College is a hockey school so that was a huge win. Not to mention the fact that 'Cuse knocked the BC football team out of a BCS game last season. So it was some payback.
I really though BC was going to lose to Syracuse. They had so much trouble with Notre Dame's zone I figured they would be toast againest Cuse's since Syracuse is probably the best in the nation when it comes to zone defense. I guess that ND game was just a fluke. |
Well the game against ND was at ND so that prolly had something to do with it

I dunno, I just don't see a #6 team beating a #9 team an upset. Especially 'Cuse, they have been struggling and underachieving this year IMO. I didn't mean to make you think I was picking on poor BC or anything, it was just an example but since that was their biggest win in history... But yeah, fans have been rushing the court like crazy this year. That's why I thought it was pretty cool Duke didn't rush the court when they beat NC. #9 beating #2, biggest rivalry in basketbal, etc. etc. |
ABC Regional TV: Midwest and probably south...Missouri @ Texas, turn it on bitches

my school (UNC Charlotte) is ranked like 22. Nobody even goes to the games though. haha.
A lot of people like Duke for the same reason they like the Yankees, but to be fair The Outlaws favorite teams are The Braves and The Packers, forget who the other ones are, but all teams who consistantly win.
saw some kid the other day with a Yankee cap on and I was like "Oh, you like the Yankees?" He was like "No, I am big Braves Fan." Wasn't the Outlaw, but jesus, get off the Yankee hats.
Is Iona in NY then?
Not at Iona. UNC Charlotte. Didn't you see my post right before. I don't go to Iona anymore.
Yeah, I thought that you used to go to Manhattan and now went to Iona, and I thought Iona was in NC. So I was clearing it up, Iona is the school you went to in NY right? Not Manhatton.
yea. AAA goes to Manhatton.
John Chaney is a piece of shit and should get fired.
If you didn't see it, Chaney was upset at the refs for not calling illegal screens against St. Joe's so Chaney sent in this big fat scrub to send a message. He then fouled out in 4 minutes and broke a guy's arm that he outweighed by 30 pounds by grabbing him in the air and throwing him on the floor. Chaney's a fucking punk |
The guy who's arm he broke was also a senior, out for the season.
wow, what a dick. When did this happen?
last week sometime
yup and he only got a 3 game suspension from the school which conveniently puts him back right before the A10 Tourny
Yeah..."Suspended for the rest of the regular season"
They try to make it sound like its a big deal or something |
They were talking on ESPN about how the guy on St. Joe's who got injured will miss the GW game which is in DC and he's from DC and senior night as well as the A10 Tourny that St. Joe's is favored to win.
Chaney seriously should just quit and stop embarassing himself because he's only a shell of what he used to be |
Chaney has been suspended for the rest of the season including post season play I thought? Yeah that was pretty sad, I mean I've seen that happen quite a few times (and been sent in to do it a few times), but never to such an extreme extent.
Also, I don't really see why I should explain why I am a fan of Duke, but if I must...I have quite a few friends that goto school there and a few that are involved with the basketball program who I met through camps, so I have been rooting for them a lot more lately. I've always been a hardcore Bama fan but Duke just get my props for having class and having such a great atmosphere to play in and whatnot, but now that some of my friends are up there I have been watching them a lot more lately. But then again, they are "gay" and I shouldn't like them since I am not from the NC area. :| Also, let's take a look at the teams I like and how long I have liked them: Braves - Late 80's Packers - Early 90's Alabama - Birth Duke - Early 90's Colts - Ever since Manning has been there :$ Most pro sports I don't really have teams that I just cream over (BCWWF - Minnesota, Stima - Boston) because I actually don't care for pro sports. I watch games when I have time but I would much rather watch college football/basketball than pro football/basketball any day of the week. In pro sports, I have favorite players rather than teams (Favre, Shaq, Jones, etc.), and the only ones that I really root for no matter who is on the team is Atlanta and Green Bay. So, if you claim I am a bandwagoner, that's cool. Badwagons only last so long and like you can see, I have been a Braves/Packers/Bama/Duke fan for quite a while. You can say I jumped on the COlts bandwagon, but I don't really see a bandwagon yet... Yeah, people that LC described should be slapped though...I have a few friends who wear NY hats because they look cool...:-\ BTW, BCWWF, how are your Suns doing? |
*Looks around...RUNS*
OMG, I forgot to mention...Illinois losing to Ohio State??? WHAT?!?!?!
Chris Paul got suspended for the first game of the ACC tourney against NC State for hitting Julius Hodge in the nuts yesterday. Pretty gay, he didnt even get called for anything during the game and now they're suspending him for one game. If it was JJ Redick nobody would care
Only one game? What the hell? The reason they didn't call anything is because they didn't see it...
He and anyone that does something like that should be gone for the whole ACC/SEC/BIG EAST/whatever tournament. Well, it wasn't Redick and it probably will never be him in a situation like that...pretty sure he wouldn't do something like this anyway, it surprised me that Paul did, thought he had a little intelligence to him. Guess not. |
Yeah Reddick would just write poetry about it after the game if Hodge was talking shit to him.
Hodge talked stuff to Paul after he gave him a low blow.
Its funny because they showed that exact same Reddick feature on ESPN a few weeks ago. I guess I am one of the few who saw it so they used it again. I know the Miz saw it too.
Somebody did the same shit pretty recently, but I can't remember who, might have been NBA. Punching somebody in the balls, thats just a grimey move right there. One game suspension is reasonable to me, even though nothing was called I think a suspension is warrented in this situation.
It's not like they are going to miss the tourny because of it or anything.
JJ = strength of a condor
Just in case anyone hasnt seen
I can't see what my future has in store but I move forth with the strength of a condor The courage of a warrior The commitment of an American soldier Despite this weight on my shoulder my inner forces circulate to form a nucleus of an unbreakable bond These words describe the soundtrack to my life's song My mind and body united like the Colors of Benneton My destiny isn't told by the creases of my palm A sharp thorn once cut my soul The blood flowed But no bandage would cover the wound I couldn't help but stare at the distant moon Waiting for a resolution to come at an instant soon I asked the Lord, "What am I to do?" He said, "Son, I made the sky blue The rain falls because of me Leaves change colors on a fall tree I was the inspiration to Martin Luther King I'm the reason Ray Charles could sing I've changed others through and through And my son, I'll do the same to you" BRAVO JJ, BRAVO |

This is the greatest time ever. St. Mary's vs. Gonzaga was great yesterday and Oakland vs. Oral Roberts was sick today
I LOVE CHAMPHIONSHIP WEEK |
I wanted St. Mary's to upset Gonzaga...and it makes me feel better that Oakland made the tourny, now we beat another tourny team :)
One that has a losing record haha
Its all the same, I hope Houston makes it too
Yeah, beating a 12-18 Oakland team would be the same as beating a 24-6 Louisville team.
BC lost in the 1st round of the Big East tourament. Been playing like garbage lately. Their lack of an outside shooing game was exposed and ever since then they haven't looked too hot. Prime for a 1st round upset in the NCAAs
First round would be kind of a stretch, I doubt they get less then a 4 seed, which means they would be playing probably a mid-major team.
Well Niagara made it from the MAAC, so I'll be pulling for them.
And watch out for Charlotte, they're pretty dam good and most people at my own school don't even care/or know it. lol Iona and Manhattan sucked it this year. :n: |
haha, as of right now, it looks as if BC vs Niagara is a lock.
New York vs Boston one more time :y: |
