Day of Reckoning 2...
http://cube.ign.com/objects/734/7349...?ui=gamefinder
http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/spo...w_6121492.html Yup. There won't be another wrestling game. :Shifty: |
Not sure if I like the new submission system.
|
of course we all knew this would happen.....everyone said that Day of Reckoning was the best Gamecube wrestling game so far.....although looking at the other two being the Wrestlemanias that really didnt mean anything.
I like that Hogan and Warrior are gonna be in this one....actually I dont care for Warrior. My cousin does all I care about is Hogan. |
Quote:
I don't really care about having Hogan OR Warrior in the game, I just wish they'd expand the wrestling roster a little more. Still, I'd rather see Hogan than Warrior. At least it'll be easiser to make Paul London if he's left out... Also, I sounded negative on the new submission engine, when all I really am is unsure. I appreciate the idea of redefining it, making it more than just button mashing. |
sounds like it'll be an interesting game to play. I grew tired of DoR already. The only thing I like about it are my extremely customized entrances
|
Is DoR a lasting game if you play it often with a buddy?
|
I hate button mashing games.

http://www.gamingring.com/~mike/THQS...05/wwedor3.wmv power point presentations on some info on the game lol.. they are a long watch, but if you want to know what they are doing with the game then watch. So far i see no good updates, besides the obvious update of graphics, and them adding "several user choices" in story mode, it sure beats the 1 choice (going to smackdown or raw) in DOR 1 tho. I hate to say it but it seems like besides a few updates here and there, this game will have nothing new. another thing i dislike is the side view of the ring, why can't they stick with the back view? I hate the side view, it messes up when you are walking down the ramp to the stage, and i'd much rather look at the titantron rather than the crowd. all of that aside, I will probably get this game a day earlier than it comes out -_-' |
I got rid of DoR after like 2 weeks, bored the shit out of me, so limited.

Fignuts just creamed his pants.

Good lord Gohan, they've barley announced it, and we've got a long way to go. Quit it with the hatorade, ya heard? |

I'd prefer a little more effort be put into the camera angle system in the entrances. I also want them to get rid of the blood "cinematic", as it is very disruptive during gameplay and often costs me a special.

-Keep the Camera view behind the ring instead of the side -Bring back swords and capes to CAW, otherwise leave it the same -All of the exhibition options available on PS2 games (elimination especially) -Create a Stable mode/Tag Entrances For Story Mode -Make it longer, it was waay to short -Choose which roster is on which show, if they are face/heel, and enter in CPU controlled CAWs -Able to play as a normal wrestler instead of a CAW -The ability to lose a match and have it branch, isntead of forcing you to play till you win -More choices that will make the game branch (a lot more) May seem like a long list, but it really isn't asking much, especially since HCTP had everything on that list (minus capes and swords). Barely any of it will make the game. I'm going to stay pessimistic about this game so that when I buy it, it will be better than i expected it to be. |

-Keep the Camera view behind the ring instead of the side
Not really a change, you're complaining about a new change. -Bring back swords and capes to CAW, otherwise leave it the same] Swords? GAY. Bring back capes though, because they can actually have a place. -All of the exhibition options available on PS2 games (elimination especially) Meh. More match types will be included, though with our luck it'll be like 2. -Create a Stable mode/Tag Entrances Agreed, but that's a pretty fucking minor deal. For Story Mode -Make it longer, it was waay to short Which they're doing. -Choose which roster is on which show, if they are face/heel, and enter in CPU controlled CAWs Again, nice, but minor deal. -Able to play as a normal wrestler instead of a CAW :y: -The ability to lose a match and have it branch, isntead of forcing you to play till you win Which may or may not be done. -More choices that will make the game branch (a lot more) Done Quote:
|
Swords are not gay, I want to make Link, Crono.. and now Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia
I don't consider tag entrances a minor change, it's something I've wanted since WMX8 lol and yeah, i said most wont be done, which implies some of them are being implemented, but i still worry that they will probably have like 8 options total to branch in the story. |
They had sword and capes? :|
|
in WMXIX they did
you can make a cape in DOR, but it looks stupid and takes up all your gear points |
who cares about a cape.
well anyway I checked out parts of both slide shows... I need more time and info before i cna make a definite decision. |

Also, a lot of wrestling games in the past have included outfits for classic and foreign superstars, like jushin lyger and owen hart. But the recent crop of games only had half their outfits in the game. Seriously retarded. In day of reckoning, it wasn't so bad, because you had the stencil tool, but some of them took hours to make. If you're only going to put half og a guy's outfit in a game then forget it.

i went on their forums and they have the same list and ppl are saying i'ts fake, even though it has been posted on nodq and rajah i don't think it's true... on the offchance that it is, i wish they wouldn't leave out hassan and carlito |
"Break the masterlock mode"
   :shifty: |
There's absolutley no reason why London and Hassan shouldn't be in there. London is a champ and Hassan is one of the biggest heels on Raw.
Heidy and Masters don't really matter... And Carlito.... maybe they got stuck trying to program his afro. :shifty: |
Quote:
Any move he was dropped on his head in game the fro took all the impact so he became a bigger underseller than undertaker and was cut. :( |
That list is fake. Ultimate warrior has already been confirmed as a legend by a major game magazine. (Forgot which one I read it in.)
|
last year sgt slaughter was confirmed by a major game magazine
plans change man... it seems nothing is final until IGN confirms it |
THQ has said they're actually working on making the entrances more dynamic than ever before with more lifelike animations, and pyros that look even more real than DoR, plus they are adding a whole bunch of new camera angles. As far as the roster is concerned I hope they will expand the number of divas in the game to somewhere between 6-8, and hopefully they will get rid of the guys who are no longer with wwe, such as rhyno & storm for example, and why the hell would anyone want to play as cade or jindrak? Cade has had 2, yes 2 whole matches since coming to wwe--his debut match on RAW, and he was involved in the Fatal-4-Way SUDDEN DEATH RULES tag team match for the World Tag Team Championship @ WM XX, when Booker and RVD retained the belts (before they were drafted to SD! shortly thereafter, personally I think both are getting the major screwjob just because one is from WCW (Booker) and RVD is from ECW, and we all know how VKM treats the guys from other organizations--RVD is actually pretty lucky to have had the IC title when he did. Anyway, Jindrak was also drafted to SD! but despite all his talent he hasn't gotten any kind of push at all. He's just a mid-carder on SD! (working only part-time there) and on Velocity, where nobody really cares about him. So sad :nono: :?: dumb@$$es.), and they do need some fresh young talent in the game however, CCC, now that would be "COOL" just to have him in there so you could beat his punk ***, and put in Snitsky and Heidenreich, London, even Hassan and Daivari, possibly Chris Masters might even be worth a shot. New people that haven't done much such as Kenzo Suzuki and his wife shouldn't be in tho, because they are not established enough to get any real recognition in a WWE game yet...maybe a year or 2 from now, but not yet.
Also as far as the Last Man Standing match goes, THQ needs to take a serious cue from the KO system in Fight Night Round 2. What I mean is in last man standing have it so that you have to get the bar from "K.O." to "Escape" before the ref counts to 10, or you lose. Simple as that and it would be fun and logical to do the match that way. And it might not be the popular thing to do but they should allow for the possibility of a Double K.O. just to keep it from getting TOO boring. |
lol, will La Resistance EVER be in a WWE game?
|
No.
|
Best thing they could do is look at all the stuff that was in No Mercy but not in DoR and add it all in. Completely customisable matches and all that. More CAW stuff also. And why do they have womens clothing for men? Do a lot of people make cross dressing wrestlers?
|
I like the sound of this new submission system. It might be interesting to see Chris Benoit's sharpshooter only get treated like a finisher when it is used in "power mode". I haven't played Day of Reckoning, so I can only assume finishers are used when yo build-up a special meter. Having a full special meter would be an interesting way of affction submission moves. Benoit can use the sharpshooter, but when he uses it when he has a special, more options become available in the move.
Then you've got Chris Jericho. You could be required to use a special to enter the Walls of Jericho, but from there you can choose to use a "power" version (Liontamer) or allow one with more control (Boston Crab). It would be nice to see submissions countered based on the wrestler taking the move, not the one locking it in. So if Ric Flair put a Figure Four on Batista, Batista could use a "power" counter to turn it around, using leg strength, which means it would be wise for a character using Ric Flair to soften up the legs of the Batista player, much like would happen on RAW if the two had a match. A smaller character like Shannon Moore would have to use stamina to try and battle to the ropes, or to try and turn the move on Flair (if they've got enough leg strength, or if Flair's stamina is low enough). This could make for some really deep matches. One thing I really hope they do, is capture thebig match feel. In the SmackDown!games, if you want to have a Hell in a Cell Match, you just select it and away you go. I think this should be changed so big matches are only selectable once you've finished the game. During story mode you should come along challenges like Kane in an Inferno Match if you get into a heated rivarly with him, or a First Blood Match if you continuously attack a guy until he bleeds with a steel chair over a few weeks. Hell in a Cell would only be used in the game when you're in a big match environment near the top of the card with a single-rival, or if the PPV needs a boost, and Elimination Chambers would be used if the main event scene is clustered. This game could really be the one that changes the story mode of wrestling games. For some reason I can see this new submission/stamina system being used to define faces and heels. Heels traditionally control most of the match-up, so why not make it if you control the match, and regain stamina by putting your opponent in the chinlock, it puts the crowd slightly more behind your opponent. So it's easier to be a heel in some cases. Getting your ass kicked could have benefits too, because you could strike a pose to get the crowd into the match and regain some stamina (like Shawn Michaels does when he sets up for the Sweet Chin Music, etc.). And if you sell a lot of merchandise (as faces do), you could immediately become the top dog, and get some good deals going with the GM. What I can really see being revolutionary, though, is that if you keep winning it might be nice if the lockerroom began to become unhappy with your "politics". It sort of mimics how Triple H never seems to step down, and gets a lot of animosity from some fans, and a lot of people backstage. Ruling with a iron fist (heel) would allow you to use your constant winning to keep guys on a leash, but if you remain the top face, you tend to find yourself roughed up a bit. This could be interesting if done right, because you can lose a few matches and be a face/heel and be respected backstage, or win too much, keep the title, but have a lot of guys start to hate you, whether your a face or a heel. |

Pretty solid roster. Though Haas and Vicky coulda stayed.
Although I'm sure, they'd make it so all the necessary pieces are there to create them. I might have to invest in this game... if the gameplay turns out to be any good. |
