What in the world of wrestling is your city known for?

Well altough the don't announce him from here Hassan is from Syracuse NY

AND POSSIBLY THE GREATEST THING TO HAPPEN IN WRESTLING

--David Arquette Diamond Dallas Page Syracuse, NY 04-25-00--

I was excited it happened because hey new champ in our hometown. How ever I still wanted to throw stuff at bishoff when he came out..

McLegend 06-06-2005 01:44 PM

ECW

Loose Cannon 06-06-2005 01:48 PM

well New Rochelle, NY is known for nothing

But it's 15 minutes from NYC, so the begginning of Wrestlemania I guess.

I live right outside of Charlotte now and that's Flair country.

Disturbed316 06-06-2005 01:49 PM

Closest thing to Brighton in the wrestling world would be William Regal or British Bulldog coming from places near by (or at least from the same country).

Extreme Angle 06-06-2005 01:51 PM

um hm Wales would be same as disturbed i guess :/

Marcyo 06-06-2005 03:08 PM

Oh yeah, Montreal was also the place were Chris Benoit was born, I think.

There was also that other thing which I won't even mention that happened here in '97.

Lamuella 06-06-2005 03:18 PM

Wichita, KS the city Bulldog Bob Brown made famous. :D
Wichita is where Big Show went to College, Bam Bam Bigelow made his WCW debut here, and had a nitro when wcw was almost dead. That Nitro had a hotter crowd then any WWF/WWE show here. :wtf:

Nowhere Man 06-06-2005 04:10 PM

Huntsville, AL.

Hometown of Bobby Eaton, one of the greatest tag-team wrestlers ever.

Also the birthplace of the X-Division Title, when AJ Styles beat Jerry Lynn, Low-Ki, and Psicosis in a round-robin double elimination match to be crowned the first X-Div. Champion.

EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (enough said)

WrestleMania XV (Stone Cold def. The Rock)

ROH

Summerslam 90, KOTR 1995, Mind Games, Unforgiven 2000, Royal Rumble 2004

and......

WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin (with one arm tied behind his back) vs Mr. McMahon (RAW 1998)

Plus a whole lot more

Evil Vito 06-06-2005 04:18 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Danbury, CT

Well, the biggest wrestling-related thing to happen in this city was that ECW held a PPV (I think it was Living Dangerously 2000), at the O'Neill Center here. This just goes to show how far in the shitter ECW were starting to go by this point.....I'm quite certain that all watching the PPV were probably thinking "where the crap is Danbury, Connecticut?"

Pretty sure that's the show where New Jack and Vic Grimes were on scaffolding and Jack walked off of it backwards, sending Grimes with him flipping, and Grimes ended up landing on (and breaking) both of New Jack's knees</font>

Also, we have many indy shows around here. I never go, but I know that they have at least one a month.

Altar of Helmsley 06-06-2005 07:47 PM

Went to Insurrextion 2001 here (London, England) saw Angle Vs Benoit in 2 out of 3 falls. It wasn't the best match they ever had but it was worth it just to see them wrestle each other live  and seeing the undertaker was unreal.

Highlight of the nite was steph being hit by a plastic bottle (Well several plasic bottles) and it being all over the net for a few days.

It was strange seeing as they checked us for bottles when we came in.

btw: (i don't wish any harm on steph) :shifty:

Other than that we've had Summerslam 92 (Bulldog Vs Bret) and and few other live events, thats about it really.

My hometown is Sudbury, Ontario. No wrestlers of note are from there, but we were part of the International Wrestling Territory out of Montreal. As such I got to see Rick Martel, The Rougeau Brothers, and Dino Bravo before they hit the big time.

I now live in Ottawa. I think the only thing of note about Ottawa is I believe the RAW after the Montréal incident occured in Ottawa.

Vastardikai 06-07-2005 08:34 AM

Augusta, GA.

1. The Birthplace of Hulk Hogan

2. Benoit's first Phantom Television Title Reign occurred here. (Phantom because it was treated like it didn't happen on Television.)

3. ECW came here exactly once, I caught Nova's Wrist Tape at the event. If I still had it, I'd mail it to him with a message that said, "I Still Remember."

Nark Order 06-07-2005 08:47 AM

The Fitz 06-07-2005 12:30 PM

When he was still face. Also did any other Ontario-ites hear the Christian chants during the triple threat that Edge was in at SummerSlam with Jericho and Batista.

We also started a wave during a WWE Championship match, that lasted almost the entire match. Poor Taker, fuck JBL.

Crashnburn 06-07-2005 12:59 PM

Austin, TX

-Paul London is from here.
-It was in Austin that Snitsky punted the baby on Raw.
-Austin was the last stop on the "Hoe Train". It was in Austin when Godfather was taken by the RTC.
-Lance Hoyt of TNA used to wrestle here locally under the name "Shadow".
-Victoria, TX is close by which is Stone Cold's hometown.
-San Antonio is a short drive from here which is famous for HBK and the current home of Stone Cold. Also home of the former TWA school which trained several indy & WWE superstars such as Paul London, Spanky, American Dragon Brian Danielson, (Lance) Garrison Cade, etc. I also saw the Vertabreaker performed in TWA before I ever saw Hurricane (Sugar Shane Helms) do it.
-Houston is close too which is Booker T and Stevie Ray's hometown. Houston is also the Undertaker's hometown.
-Houston has been home to two Wrestlemanias and a few other PPV's
-Dallas has hosted several PPV's. Dallas is the same distance from Austin as Houston is from Austin.

That's all I can think of right now...

The One 06-07-2005 02:57 PM

Nothing where I live now...but back when I lived in Denver, CO...

*Vader

*Too Cold Scorpio

*"Colorado Kid" Mike Rapada (NWA guy [and former World Champ] for those of you who don't know)

*Raven won the US title and Savage won the World Title on the same night

*Goldberg won the US title and Hogan won the World Title the next night in the city next to Denver (Colorado Springs)

*Jericho won one of his IC title reigns here

*Denver is the city where Bischoff and Russo vacated all the titles

*WWE Vengence was here when Kurt Angle began his 4th (and final to date) reign as WWE Champion and Eddie Guerrero began his 2nd (and final to date) reign as US Champion

*One of Lance Storm's 3 favorite cities to wrestle in...

Also, I doubt this makes Denver, or the state of Colorado "known" but there has never, NEVER been a Tag Team Title switch in the entire state of Colorado. Even when it comes to Indies (NWA-Rocky Mountain, RMCW, HVW, CWO, XTC, and others), the Tag Titles have never been dropped or won, only awarded and stripped. Interesting isn't it.

As a matter of fact, you did.

The One 06-07-2005 03:03 PM

...if you are saying that New York City is best known for WrestleMania XX, you are VERY mistaken. NYC is probably one of the cities in the world with the MOST history and richness to it. To cheapen the entire city by saying that WrestleMania XX is the highlight is a disgrace. At least in my eyes.

Also it's not "whale" unless you are talking about the animal. I believe the word you were looking for is "while". Also there is no Joh Cena, but I think a guy named John Cena is WWE Champion right now. Ok the last one I know was a type-o I just felt like being a bitch. RAW with Eugene as GM was here. Met Jericho the next day.
Cena was stripped of the US title the next day I believe.
Eddie Guerrero fan incident happened at a house show 2 years ago. Eddie was thrown out of the ring, and a fan poured a beer on him. Eddie got up, chased him, punched him a few times, and then went back to the match. Post-match, he apologized to the crowd, and tore into the fan's buddies.
