"The King" to be released???
Credit: PWTorch.com Newsletter
With the recent addition of The Coach to the RAW broadcast team, some speculation is taking place within WWE that Jerry Lawler could be moved off the team or even released by WWE possibly. The overwhelming opinion of Lawler in WWE is that he is seen as overpaid of what is asked of him and many feel The Coach can fill his shoes for a much smaller salary. It should be noted that Coach is said to be more popular and social with key members of the WWE production staff than Lawler is at this point. |
Lawler is a good guy and very smart about the business.
He should at least be moved to a road agent position. |
How about they just get some good announcers period. Not good by comparison, but actually good.
There's an idea... |
The Coach, even though lawler can be overbearingly annoying at times with his commentary, especially when women are on screen, is no better. I actually cant stand the Coach.
Although if he'd replace Cole, I'd be fine with that. |
Its more of a wake up call than anything
|
They need to have him be a damn heel anouncer again, man I loved him then.
|
HEre's a thought: When someone is involved with Tuff ENough, they generally get airtime.
The Diva Search, maybe it gets similar treatment. Maybe Coach is out there for the timebeaing BECAUSE of the Diva Searc? |
Coach is much better IMO

And also, if they're gonna fire anyone, make it JR. Lawlers>Coach.

But I have to agree...the heel turn of the Coach has made him go from somewhat entertaining to totally annoying. And the sooner he's off my TV...the better. |
I like the Coach now that he's heel. He went from being a funny goofball to being a funny heel goofball. He's not that bad. However, there definitely needs to be a major change as far as commentating team goes. I'd send JR out first, then Lawler.
|
Forget Coach. Bring in Bill DeMott. It's been too long since I've seen DeMott's Turning Point.
|
what El Santo said
|
JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY
Someone was bound to do it :o |
Heyman and JR were the best
|
Those are both awful options, but I think I'd opt for Coach over Lawler. Really, all the WWE announcers should be replaced by people that don't suck, though Smackdown's team is much better than Raw's, and I don't really mind them.
|
Replace Lawler with Heyman, you can't get much better than that right now without going outside of the WWE, and even then it's hard.
|
demott was a good commentator but damn i miss bill in the ring
i think lawler is the only thing that saves raw so they should replace jr with heyman or styles coach needs to stay cause the guy is pretty damn funny at times as far as smackdown's tema leave them alone cole and tazz are the best commentating combo in the biz |
Cole and Tazz have improved with time, Smackdown's commentary is quite informative...Raw's is generally shit in comparison.
|
Tazz speaks from experience and Cole speaks from the "commoners" pov. Lawler uses sexual inuendos and the other day, JR refered to an inverted DDT as "The Unprettier". I"d say this is one aspect where SmackDown has it over on Raw.

Am I the only one that likes The Coach? :'(
|
Yes. I'm sorry.

Could it be...That HEYMAN was there? Let's put it in terms most people here will get. Look at darkpower's sig. Heyman is Eddie. JR is the pudding. |
I wouldn't be too terribly upset to see King go. JR and King have been around for ages, it's time for some new blood. I heard a while back that Road Warrior Animal was gonna try out for an announcing gig. Anybody heard anything on this?
|
King is a god! Without the King, there is no Raw.
|
And here I thought the wrestlers have a role in it.

There has never, ever been a Raw without Jerry "the King" Lawler. |
So Raw...IS...JERICHO was all a lie? :'(

I think The King should stay. Think how long he has been with the company! Its a shame (remember when he used to do all the puppies comments, etc.) they are thinking of releasing him. J.R & King work so well. I would lose some interest in RAW. Maybe have him as a writer or ring announcer?
|
I read this yesterday and it pissed me off, one more reason not to watch Raw anymore. If he leaves then I don't think I will anymore, I'll just read online what's happening because that's bullshit. Coach is a fucking dork I can't believe everyone really likes him.

Sadder than people who will stop watching if they lose their fave wrestler. |
Quote:
The sad thing is, that of the two, Lawler is better than JR, but apparantly the staff is willing to let JR ramble along until he's speaking in nothing but old man gibberish. Plus, Lawler is kind of an idiot (like you). If you've ever read his online commentary, he's got that old school Memphis view on wrestling, so he'd be shit as a writer. Utter shit. And there's no way the WWE would keep him around at his salary to be a road agent. And him being a ring announcer would just be stupid. |

As much as I have complained about the King and JR in the past, I wouldn't be very happy if this were to go through. Neither of them are particularly great anymore but the Coach is really fucking awful. I hope him being on the commentary team is just temporary. Now if it were Heyman or Joey Styles then I may have a change of heart but the Coach will add nothing to the announce team if he replaced the King.

You stated that you didn't get why everybody loves the Coach. He said that if you read this thread, you'd see that statement was false. Now you're claiming you read it on another site? |

Nah...you're a fucking retard. |

Anyways, with my personal hatred for Bill Demott aside, I personally love the trio as it is right now. It's nice to hear someone yelling about how idiotic and shameful John Cena is, as opposed to JR and King's verbal masturbation over the Chain Gang leader. Still, a team of Heyman and Styles or Heyman, Styles and JR would be much much better. |

You disgrace the name of Cactus Jack and with the same token, the name of Mick Foley. You are a dumb piece of shit, and you should be banned. |
Quote:
No...just no. No JR in any way shape or form. |
Cactus Jack is a herb.
|
Mike Tenay and Bobby Heenan were awesome. Tenay has sooooo much info on the biz its just mindblowing. Heenan was so damn funny, not in a king way. He would say the weirdest things...man good times

All J.R. is good for on RAW is knowing how to over-react and shout obscenities WAY too much. I don't like saying it but I'll never forget when HHH made his "surprise" return after 2 weeks of absence on RAW and pedigreed Batista...how does Good Ol' J.R. react? "G**D*** IT!" What a lovely role model he would make around kids with that kind of language...NOT!
All King does is drool over the divas and talk about "puppies" and tell stupid jokes during matches that would make silence actually better for watching the matches. And all Coach does is sit around on his lazy butt and kiss Bischoff's @$$...I'm getting real sick of this sh*t, real fast :nono::foc::rant::mad: |
