GOLDBERG VS. STEINER; ONE LAST RAW BEFORE THE RUMBLE!
Jan. 19, 2004
Scott Steiner thought he received some good news last week when he found out that he would enter the Royal Rumble and have a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, if he could survive the challenge of 29 other men. The good news, however, ended right there as it came with some bad news for Steiner … he is next. On RAW, Steiner will meet Goldberg, a man who will also enter the Rumble on Jan. 25. Goldberg is determined to win the Rumble and gain a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, and is apparently going to try to use Steiner as an example of how serious he is. Will Goldberg’s path to the Rumble meet a bump in the road from Steiner? Watch RAW to find out.

Also, last week on RAW, Stone Cold Steve Austin and General Manager Eric Bischoff came to an agreement that Austin would not interfere with Bischoff as long as Bischoff followed the rules. Austin said his job is to make sure that Bischoff does his. Does this mean that Bischoff will now have a plan to run RAW as he sees fit despite the presence of Austin? Find out on RAW!

The Road to the Royal Rumble continues as RAW comes to you for the final time before the big event from Green Bay. What other developments for the Rumble will happen? Escape the Rules and find out on RAW at 9/8 CT on Spike TV!

lol wcw

loopydate 01-19-2004 06:44 PM

Because if Triple H couldn't stop Goldberg...surely Test's tag team partner can!

Loose Cannon 01-19-2004 06:50 PM

Hey remember towards the end of WCW when Steiner killed off like all of WCW's top guys and then had funerals for them on Nitro. LOL. Magnificent 7 Ruled

Disturbed316 01-19-2004 06:53 PM

RAW WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAH

The CyNick 01-19-2004 07:07 PM

Steiner and Goldberg had an awesome match at Fall Brawl 2000, who wants to bet that this match tonight will not be as good? Anyone? Didn't think so.

That said, this is another example of good booking going into the Rumble. I assume Test will be in the Rumble, so much like with BT and Kane, this will give Goldberg a fued that the fans are familiar with to deal with in the Rumble.

The build for HBK-HHH has been really good, hopefully they continue that.

We should also get some more stuff with Orton, and if they're smart they will announce that Foley will be at the Rumble (if he actually is going to make an apprearance) instead of going with the suprise approach which does nothing for business, as has been proven this past month.

The Show Off 01-19-2004 07:25 PM

I'm looking foward to Steiner vs. Goldberg something about two brawlers going at it always makes me eager to watch an event, I don't really know why. Hopefully tonight they will finally turn Jericho all the way face (rather then just hinting at it) so Jericho when Jericho wins the Rumble the fans will actually cheer his victory rather then having a smatering of boos. Also I'll bet dollars to donuts that there will be a match tonight where the winner gets to be the 30th entrant in the Royal Rumble.

MVP 01-19-2004 08:39 PM

I'm betting that the main event will be crap. As has been before I hope Orton and RVD do some promos, and Jericho makes a full-fledged face turn so fans aren't left to wonder whether to cheer or boo the tweener at the Rumble.

moshingfreak 01-19-2004 08:41 PM

Why isnt this thread sticky yet?

wrestling_god 01-19-2004 08:42 PM

think the kane jericho match will be tonight?

loopydate 01-19-2004 08:46 PM

Okay, so the RAW superstars that have already been announced for the Rumble are: Kane, Booker T, Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Christian, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, and Rico.

Who wants to hazard a guess at the last seven (keep in mind, HBK, HHH, the Dudleys, Flair, and Batista already have matches, plus Tommy Dreamer isn't in it, since Rico beat him to qualify)?

How about...rep points all around for whoever gets all seven.

For my part, I'm going with Rob Van Dam, Test, Randy Orton, Matt Hardy, Lance Storm, Val Venis, and Steven Richards.

moshingfreak 01-19-2004 08:49 PM

Test, Steven Richards, Rob Conway, Rene Dupree, Matt Hardy, The Hurricane, Rosey.

Theres my 7

Mr. JL 01-19-2004 08:57 PM

Do you think the Goldberg-Steiner match is going to resemble the match between Booker & Buff? Or do you think fans have got the WCW taste out of their mouths?

MVP 01-19-2004 08:59 PM

RVD, Randy Orton, Test, Matt Hardy, Spike Dudley, Val Venis, Lance Storm.

AareDub 01-19-2004 09:08 PM

I've got pretty high hopes for Raw tonight despite the Steiner/Goldberg match. I don't really care much for either of them, it's matches like this that make me miss monday night football.

My last 7 entrants guess would be
Test, Orton, RVD, Richards, Hurrican, Hardy, Maven

Unless Maven really is seriously hurt (not sure if it's been confirmed). If Maven is hurt then I'll take Rosey.

AareDub 01-19-2004 09:11 PM

Damn, should've watied a few minutes and I could've cheated

Tonight could be good, I like the idea of the tournament ending in an over the top rope battle royal

Loose Cannon 01-19-2004 09:12 PM

god that would be great if Hardy won it. Who was that guy behind Booker in the blue shorts, I couldn't see?

MVP 01-19-2004 09:13 PM

The last 7 are RVD, Randy Orton, Test, Hurricane, Rob Conway, Matt Hardy, and Spike.

We were all wrong. :(

Krow 01-19-2004 09:14 PM

Heh. Anyone catch the "BORING!" sign?

Loose Cannon 01-19-2004 09:14 PM

Conway..Thats who it was.

MVP 01-19-2004 09:15 PM

RVD and Booker T against Christian and Matt Hardy first.

No Jericho, that makes for a better chance at his face turn. :D

That was a week or so ago, he's been back at house shows recently. Over the weekend he hurt, possibly even broke, his elbow.

Has 30 ever gone to a face?

Mr. JL 01-19-2004 09:29 PM

Geez... I hate Jonathan Coachman. Not the hate, as in he's a good heel. The hate as he's been rammed down my throat

MVP 01-19-2004 09:29 PM

Thank god Bischoff is still off TV. Hopefully all the added matches cut Triple H's and Stone Cold's TV time short.

Shit it's Dupree, not Conway that's in the rumble.

Chyna was 30 wasn't she? Was she a face? I can't remember.

I could see them booking goldberg as 30 and when he comes in there will still be a hell of a lot of people remaining. Then they'd just let him clean house. Have I mentioned lately that I hate goldberg?

Your right, Chyna was a face at the time :y:

Loose Cannon 01-19-2004 09:34 PM

By the way, I love Dupre's taunt

Krow 01-19-2004 09:35 PM

Liontamer! Er...Walls of Jericho! Er...Boston Crab?

MVP 01-19-2004 09:37 PM

RVD, Booker T, and Jericho are in the battle royal. Expect some heels to win the next qualifying matches.

I dug this up, it's a list of entrants from 88 to 01. Most of the 30's seem to be heels, but some could've been faces. Undertaker, Savage, Crush, and Rikishi could've been. I can't remember well enough what their gimmicks were during that point in time.

Oh well, more useless info anyway

wrestling_god 01-19-2004 09:42 PM

i think christian has a plan to take out Jericho.

thats actually a kick ass HHH / HBK promo

AareDub 01-19-2004 09:45 PM

Did coach say that if anybody interfered they were out of the Rumble? I thought I heard something like that, but the phone rang so I wasn't sure.

Mr. JL 01-19-2004 09:48 PM

Alot of history between HHH & HBK.

Not me. Though I have to give him credit for showing respect for RVD earlier in the week.

Kane's next awful feud: The Ref?

Nah, probably not. Interesting how they made it a point to mention him burying the Undertaker :shifty: also showing a replay of Undertaker getting eliminated in the Rumble  C'mon guys, don't make it too obvious.

This rumble is shaping up nicely. Its a good idea.

loopydate 01-19-2004 10:15 PM

Okay, I'm going to reprise my game again (and go off-topic). We know the 15 RAW guys, and there are 10 SmackDown guys (Angle, Cena, Benoit, Gunn, Rikishi, Benjamin, Haas, Nunzio, Big Show, and Morgan) who have clinched spots. Who will round out the last five SmackDown slots?

Keep in mind that Brock, Hardcore, Mysterio, Noble, and the Guerreros already have matches. Also, Scotty 2 Hotty, the Bashams, Palumbo, and Stamboli lost their qualifying matches.

I'm going with Rhyno, APA, A-Train, and the Dragon.

wrestling_god 01-19-2004 10:16 PM

anyone see goldberg on punked?

AareDub 01-19-2004 10:17 PM
