Create-A-Alltime-Lineup For Your Favorite Team
Yeah, I was on this Mets message board and there was a topic where you posted your favorite Met all-time roster....and yeah, I did one cause I was bored, so I figured this could be a topic where you could pick your favorite team and make an all-time favorite roster for them or something, it doesn't even have to be baseball really, but if someone actually wants to do a full NFL roster, you've got problems...
Anyways, my Met lineup mixes guys mainly from the more recent years because that's when I really started paying attention...mixing in a few 80's guys and a couple of 60s/70s...and every player here is based on their best season with the Mets.. Lineup 1. SS - Jose Reyes 2. CF - Mookie Wilson 3. C - Mike Piazza (A little biased here, just couldn't bring myself to put Carter above Piazza) 4. RF - Darryl Strawberry 5. 1B - Keith Hernandez (True leader) 6. LF - Cliff Floyd (Using the 2005 season Cliff, of course...) 7. 3B - David Wright (The future of the team) 8. 2B - Edgardo Alfonzo (Fonzy is an old fav. of mine) Bench C - Gary Carter OF - Rickey Henderson (Speed off the bench) 1B/2B/OF - Marlon Anderson (Amazing PH season this year) OF - Kevin McReynolds 3B/SS - Howard Johnson Rotation 1. RH - Tom Seaver 2. RH - Dwight Gooden 3. LH - Jerry Koosman 4. RH - Pedro Martinez 5. LH - Bobby Ojeda (Based on his TREMENDOUS '86 season) Bullpen Closer - LH: John Franco (Again a little biased because I never saw McGraw play) RH - Roger McDowell LH - Jesse Orosco LH - Tug McGraw RH - Roberto Hernandez RH - Turk Wendell RH - Armando Benitez ------ Yeah, that's what boredom gets you.....I'd be interested to see some of these for other teams if anyone else is that bored |
A kid I know at college made up some rosters of active NFL players from schools like U of Miami, Purdue, Texas, a bunch of big schools like that. Some were pretty sick.

You can kinda see there, when he was a Jet, John Hall would wear his chinstrap around his adams apple almost, his helmet hardly covered the back of his head, he was a fan favorite back in the day. You can't notice the chinstrap as much as a Redskin, but he still does it. :) |
I'll make an A's and a Cards one later. (Both should be pretty sick if you think about it)

yes, my kind of thread. I wanna create every single baseball team's all-time roster, but I'll just do my own
and wtf? Mattewson on the Reds? He played like a game for them. And I would definately add Joe Jackson to that Sox lineup Anyway: Yankees Lineup: Jeter: SS Lazzeri: 2B Gehrig: 1B Ruth: RF Jackson: DH Mantle: CF DiMaggio: LF 3B: Dugan (if A-Rod plays at least 5 yrs, switch to him) C: Dickey (fuck Berra) Bench: Mattingly: 1B  Berra: C Meusel: OF Winfield: OF Munson: C (two catchers, but I can't leave him out) Rizzuto: SS Keeler/Willams: OF Nettles: 3B Randolph: 2B Starters not in any order. fuck, this is gonna be impossible to pick 5 Ford Ruffing Gomez Hoyt Pettite Pennock: Had to add him Didn't add Hunter and Clemens because I just see them on the A's and Sox respectively. Rivera Gossage Guidry Chesbro Righetti |
For the Sox, I would definately pitch Ruth. He was like the best pitcher in the league every year he pitched for the Sox. Then add Rice to RF. Definately add the guys Miz said.
|
Boston Red Sox
1. Johnny Damon (CF) 2. Wade Boggs (3B) 3. Manny Ramirez (RF) 4. David Ortiz (DH) 5. Mo Vaughn (1B) 6. Carl Yastremski (C) 7. Nomar Garciaparra (SS) 8. Mike Greenwell (LF) 9. I know you must be ridiculously high right now because you just benched a top 10 greatest player(s) of all-time.
|
Boston Bruins
Line 1 C - Joe Thornton RW - Cam Neely LW - John Bucyk Line 2 C - Phil Esposito RW - Rick Middleton LW - Don Marcotte Line 3 C - Adam Oates RW - Wayne Cashman LW - Sergei Samsonov Line 4 C - Peter McNab RW - Terry O'Reilly LW - Steve Heinze Defence Pairs Ray Bourque Bobby Orr Dit Clapper Eddie Shore Don Sweeney Brad Park Goalies Gerry Cheevers -G Bill Ranford - G Andrew Raycroft - G |
Not high. I know exactley what he is. He is the greatest Red Sox of all time but I am picking my favorites. Not who is the best. Obvs Greenwell doesn't hold a candle to Williams.
|
For the Bruins, I'd place Andy Moog before Ranford of Raycroft.
But Boston probably have th sickest pair of defensemen ever. Bourque + Orr. WOW. |
Quote:
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/play...hp?p=yastrca01 Yaz was never a catcher. Why would he be there for a "best of" list? Plus.. Foulke has only played one full year for the Red Sox. He would be on the White Sox list. |
Atlanta Braves
Catcher: Javy Lopez 1st Base: Fred McGriff 2nd Base: Marcus Giles Shortstop: Jeff Blauser Third Base: Terry Pendleton Outfielders: Hank Aaron, Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones Bench: Sid Bream Rafeal Furcal David Justice Ron Gant Ryan Klesko Dale Murphy Pitching Rotation: 1. And to be specific, this is an All-Time Lineup for your Favorite TEAM right? Not your favorite players. Ron Gant is probably my favorite player ever but you won't see me starting him. Anyway: Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta MGR: Bobby Cox 1B: Fred McGriff 2B: Bobby Lowe SS: Rafael Furcal (Mind is going blank, give him a few more years) 3B: Eddie Matthews LF: Chipper Jones CF: Dale Murphy RF: Hank Aaron C: Javy Lopez 1B: Joe Adcock 2B: Marcus Giles (Ehh, Better choice than Lemke even though Lemke was pretty clutch) SS: Rabbit Maranville (Meh, SS is a weak spot. Jeff Blauser? Rafael Belliard?) 3B: Terry Pendleton LF: Hugh Duffy LF: Ron Gant (Hey, sue me) CF: Andruw Jones RF: David Justice C: Joe Torre SP: Warren Spahn SP: Greg Maddux SP: Phil Niekro SP: Tom Glavine SP: Kid Nichols RP: Gene Garber RP: Steve Bedrosian RP: Lefty Tyler RP: Mike Stanton RP: Lew Burdette CL: John Smoltz Lineup 1. Lowe, 2B 2. Jones, C, LF 3. Aaron, RF 4. Mathews, 3B 5. Murphy, CF 6. Lopez, C 7. Jones, A, DH 8. McGriff, 1B 9. Furcal, SS |
I mainly put Andruw ahead of Murphy is because he's better defensively and I'm so a mark for him.
Oh and Jeff Blauser is pretty good in his own right. |
Yeah I liked Blauser. I almost put him for Rabbit. Either/or.
