SummerSlam has long been recognized as WWE's marquee summer event, and this year should be no different as Superstars from both RAW and SmackDown! come to the MCI Center in Washington, D.C.
The first match made for SummerSlam is a gigantic blockbuster as WWE Champion John Cena will defend his championship against Chris Jericho.
Meanwhile, Shawn Michaels shocked WWE fans across the world by turning on friend, tag team partner Hulk Hogan, eventually blasting him with Sweet Chin Music.
HBK would later challenge Hogan to a match at SummerSlam, a match that Hogan has accepted.

Also, the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when Batista defends his championship against JBL. JBL beat Batista at The Great American Bash, winning by disqualification. Now, JBL will try and leave SummerSlam a champion once again.
Randy Orton has his own goal for SummerSlam: defeat Undertaker. After failing to add Undertaker to his list of fallen legends, the Legend Killer demanded a rematch for Aug. 21, and Undertaker was quick to accept.
In addition, Edge will face Matt Hardy in the most personal of matches. Also, Eugene and Kurt Angle will go one-on-one -- this time without a time limit. Remember, Eugene still has Angle 1996 Olympic Gold Medal
Back on the SmackDown! side, Rey Mysterio will face Eddie Guerrero, with the winner gaining sole custody of Dominick. Guerrero has revealed he is the biological father of Dominick and wants him back. Mysterio will fight to keep him.
Also, the United States Championship will be on the line when Orlando Jordan defends the championship against Chris Benoit, who has promised to make Jordan tap out.

Ok, so someone reminded me today that tonight is Summerslam.

Now normally, I get all the PPV's, mostly because I never watch Smackdown and skim through raw, so it's like a "highlight" show.

Then I took a good look at the card and realised their is really one match I have an intrest in seeing, so maybe if I don't buy it, my one less purchase somehow helps the buy-rate drop and the WWE does something to improve the PPV's.

Only match I'd pay to see: Eddie VS. Rey : Ladder match.

The rest:
Hogan v. HBK: This might have been fun if Hogan was 10-20yrs younger, but HBK will have to carry him and the outcome will have little meaning.

Cena V. Jericho: We all ready know the outcome, and they way y2j had been jobbed the last few months it really wont help get Cena over.

Batista v. JBL : So, let me understand, JBL says "I quit" to John Cena and we're supposed to believe he can win "No Hold Barred" match vs. Batista? Yeah, JBL wins this in any way w/ or w/o help, it kills an credibility Batista had on the new brand.

Matt Hardy V. Edge: Does anyone really care? I mean, do we really think there is a chance that Hardy will turn this into a shoot? Would be funny if it comes out that Hardy and Lita never broke up and this whole long thing was a work... anyway... When will Edge use his "Title Shot" anyway?

Taker V. Orton: Ok, so now Taker can put Orton over w/o breaking his WM streak, or he can bury one of the "young talents".

Eugene V. Angle: Can't even believe this is on a PPV, what? Couldn't get a Lingeri match instead? Poor Angle, this guy should be main eventing these things, not handling the bathroom break matches.

Orlando Jordn V. Benoit: I'll be honest, I haven't watched enough of OJ to know if he can step up to Benoits level, who knows, could be a good match?

Let me know if I missed any possible reason to buy this thing.

The Edge-Hardy thing could be interesting if one or the other starts throwing real punches. It won't happen but one can always hope.

edge gave matt a pretty heavy kick and looking like he knocked him for a loop. very legit. ref called it because matt couldn't get up. just made a judgement like a boxing ref would. all worked i would imagine. just the kick looked hard.

We are gathered here today to pay homage to Matt Hardy's WWE career. It was good while it lasted, but after tonight...you're done.

Wow, the WWE has some brilliant writers. First Benoit makes OJ tap in ten seconds. Than Hardy and Edge is called because Matt is bleeding badly though it looks tame compared to some I have seen. I wonder what they will do for Rey and Eddie, maybe Rey gets thrown out of the ring when the bell hits and Eddie grabs the ladder and wins the match :roll: .
