So I'm playing The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction...
And it fucking rocks. It's like Spider-Man 2 on roids. Basic control is the same, save for minor tweaks to accomodate the different super-powers. I love how Hulk isn't nearly as refined as Spider-Man in terms of movement. He slides around when he runs full speed, if he grabs a wall (like Spider-Man but sloppier) after falling fom the sky, he slides to a halt, instead of just sticking. The soldiers communicate with each other and even report exactly what you're doing to their superior officers. If you hit one while he is speaking, he will stop mid sentence.
I've only played for like 10 minutes, but I'm liking it so far. |
yeah, this game is seriously the balls, i've gotten to the point where i can just throw tanks like an olympic hammer thrower, i can jump on helicopters and piledrive hulk bots :D, among many, many other moves
|
I've only played the demo so far.
But PileDriving cops is the shit. |
It's not out here for another 2 weeks, but I'll definately be picking it up.
|
I've got the demo and it's pretty good, don't know if I'll actually buy it though.
|
*grabs a bus and charges up to slam it on a lone cop*
Cop: OH GOD, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO- *splat* |
I checked out videos and now I want it. What other cool stuff goes on in the game?

Let me guess. You take a street light and hit cops with it?

Although you can do the street light/cop thing.
|
Would you like to buy me a copy of the game? :shifty:

I'd maybe do that cos thats about 30 pounds but my ps2 wont play USA games.
Come to think of it my ps2 wont even play ps1 games. it just makes weird noises |
|
Intresting.Thanks
|
How much replay is there?
I mean, the idea of running around and beating shit up sounds like it gets tiresome. |
How did you beat the convoy mission?
|
Never mind how do you beat the hulk buster prototype?

And KK, the game is sort of like Spider-Man 2. Eventually, you will run out of stuff to do, but you'll always pick it up and play it once in a while. That and there are a crapload more moves than in SM2. |
This is so much fun. The sheer giddy thrill of knocking down a helicopter, then using it as a javelin to take down another helicopter... It's like GTA if it were written by Jose Canseco.

I'm trying to have fun with the demo, but they don't give me enough time to play around. I hope they know its shit like this that leads me to piracy.

I love how just when the game gets repetitive, 8057689754687 more moves get unlocked.

Two words: COW TOSSING!

Easiest way around the convoy was just run and jump like hell to the front of the line to take out the truck, then take your time and pretty much snipe tanks one by one before getting to the trigger point to take on the next convoy. Taking out tanks, launchers, etc get you some health. The helicopter skyjack is my favorite move, followed closely by the always effective missle grab. I haven't had much time to bust out the hammer throw yet, but it's awesome. A decently charged ground pound followed by a dashing straight does some good damage to tanks, too. If you don't have the skyjack for the copters, yet, I'd suggest going for the air combo on it. |
I tried the sky jack then said this was gay and never tried that mission again.
|
After reading this thread I'm tempted to get it. I think I'll play the demo abit more before making a purchase.
|
This comes out today, I'll probably get it before work
|
I was going to buy it today, but Game seem to have massively hacked back on their Gamecube stock, so I'll need to wait a few days for my copy to arrive from Play.

Bizzarely they did have the shit original Hulk game that came out around the time of the movie though. |
I saw a game being previewed on Cybernet (UK) and it had the Hulk doing all this crazy jumps accross skylines, and throwing shit into buildings and it looked like a marvel war of the monster but 100 times better.
I thought it was this game but it isnt. The one I saw had the X men and Spiderman in it too, I asked someone in the shop and they said its Marvel Nemesis or something. I suggests you check that one out it looked better than this one. |
I thought I was the only one that watched Cybernet :$
|
That'd be Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, which is just a vaguely tarted up one on one beat 'em up. Looks nice graphically, but no clue if it'll be any good.
Not really a superhero game in the mould of Ultimate Destruction... |

I dunno, base jumping with an inflatable blue gorilla is better, IMO.

I haven't watched Cybernet in years.
Does that American guy still do the talking? Hes no Lucy Longherst (Or however you spell her name) |
Yeah Steve Truitt still does it, but when he is ill or something, this boring American guy called Ray something does it.
|
OMG this game is about a million times better than the demo. I've had a little play around and I'm currently on Protect and Serve. I failed it the first time, but had to have dinner so I haven't tried it again yet.
|
Right, im really not so good at this game. Im on this mission where you have to destory 3 separate buildings. Except all of these objectives are sort of split into 3 mini missions. I can do the first 2 fine, the last one is a right wanker though. Towards the end you are attacked by 2 huge mechs and a few smaller Hulk-size ones. My ass gets kicked every time.
Also, I keep buying these moves, pratice them, then completely forget how to do them. |
Quote:
2. You beat them by throwing shit at them and then jumping on them and targeting their weapons systems. Target them, the move the C-stick till you have a specific spot targeted, get a couple of hits in then jump off before you get bitch slapped off. 3. Buy the ability to grab smaller mech and toss them into each other. Flying punches also work well when they are in the air. 4. If you've got enough health and you've managed to defeat or lead the giant mechs away, beat the shit ouf the building. |
I'm thinkng of trading in for this game. So guys in the UK how much would GAME give me for Burnout 2, Destroy All Humans and maybe some others.
|
My copy needs to arrive already. :(
|
Well GAME is selling it for £34.99. Burnout 2 wont get much although Destroy All Humans would probably get a fair bit, about £10/15 maybe :-\
|
yeah. Gamestation seems much better. Last time I traded in games they gave me twice as much as GAME plus when I go to GAME they handle the discs like 3 year olds, finger prints and stuff
|
Yeah, plus I've never understood why they keep the discs inside the control manual. Surely that increases the chances of them being scratched.
|
So I finally got around to finishing this. Pretty good, overall. It feels like I just played 5 or 6 comic's worth of comic series.
|
Overall the boss fights were kind of weak, but everything else was solid. :y: :y:
|
That last battle was a bitch. No reeling? WTF?
"Hulk is the strongest one there is! RAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" <--- what happened to that? |
On Funky Fly's advice, bought the game. S'allright. Though my nephew gets a serious kick out of shield grinding. He wouldn't mind if that's all the game consisted of. He would just jump into the bowl in the badlands and skateboard his little heart out.
Me? I'm partial to catching missiles. How fun is that... yet why is catching so easy, but punching them back is impossible? Ghey. |
Yeah, Shield Grinding is great fun. Just on the mission where you have to follow the helicopter to get the gamma rods, fucked up though. Gonna try it again abit later though.
|
Pretty freaking easy if you have the hitchhike thing down. The tanks on that and the samson escort mission are pretty gay though.
LOL the easiest way to dispatch of the strike force in the city is to just jump in the water. They can't hit you in the water, and you will burst out so you can target/charge/grab a helicopter, throw it into another chopper, then go back into the water. So sneaky. |
