Worst finisher of all time?

Before anybody bitches about "we already had one of these last week" suck it
oh..........Hogans leg drop doesnt count
I pick John Cena's FU, in my opinion it's just a poor man's F5.

High Impact v.W.o 08-29-2005 05:32 AM

If Cena could actually do a Death Valley Driver it'd be alright, IMO I'd pick Psycosis's leg drop.

A while ago though the POOOOUUUNCCEEEEE would have gotten it though.

kinglacoste 08-29-2005 05:34 AM

Fuck it im sorry Hogan's leg drop does count.

High Impact v.W.o 08-29-2005 05:37 AM

Psycosis's is still worse

Watson 08-29-2005 06:09 AM

The Worm

OH MY GOD!! A FALLING CHOP TO THE CHEST!! THAT KILLED HIM!!!

kinglacoste 08-29-2005 06:11 AM

has he ever finished anybody with the worm?

Dave Youell 08-29-2005 06:18 AM

Tank Abbott's punch to the head
The worm
The people's elbow
I think a clothsline is a lame finish (So Mr Corino, oh and JBL)
Hogan's leg drop

kinglacoste 08-29-2005 06:20 AM

come on now.....the clothsline from hell is good stuff
he's also a wrestling god

High Impact v.W.o 08-29-2005 06:25 AM

The worm not only takes the cake but eats it all as well.

kinglacoste 08-29-2005 06:39 AM

well he's still a wrestling god. ask em

Just John 08-29-2005 07:28 AM

Hogans non connecting big boot

Aussie Skier 08-29-2005 07:49 AM

test's pumphandle slam thingy...what a piece of crap!

The leg drop is cool! its liek the people's elbow. Who cares if it has no real impact...this is sports entertainment, not entertainment.
I tell you, I was gonna mark out majorly when Hogan did the leg drop at mania...shame he didn't do it tho :(

Gotta say, I've never been a HUGE fan of the crippler crossface. I mean, I like it and all, and I mark out when he does it in a big match and all...but for submission moves, its kinda. Just doesn't seem as devastating as, say,the sharpshooter 4 example

I don't like the Lionsault, cos its just way too ineffective. Jericho really needs to dig his knees into the guy's chest to make it effective. Of course, thats breaking ribs time tho.

Edge's spear sux balls

Hated Warriors big splash either

High Impact v.W.o 08-29-2005 07:50 AM

Gotta agree with you Mr.Skier

Chavo Classic 08-29-2005 08:15 AM

The RKO. It's a Diamond Cutter minus the charisma and autheticity

KayfabeMan 08-29-2005 08:57 AM

Oh, also:

Of all-time is a hard choice, because some people have used some pretty crappy finishers. Modernly, I am definitely going with "The Pounce". It is the sloppiest, worst coordinated, non-talented, most non-realistic looking thing since Lita.

Cool King 08-29-2005 09:28 AM

I can't believe nobody has said this, but The Master Lock is the worst finisher ever.

Hired Hitman 08-29-2005 09:37 AM

Psychosis Leg Drop rules, what are you smoking H.I.V.Dub

Well I like it, I think it's cool.

a move that is weak, well the worm is pretty weaklike.. haha that's not even a word, but I'll lock it in, tim.

JH 08-29-2005 10:12 AM

W--O--R--M
S--U--C--K--S

come on seriously what is the damn purpose of the worm

and hogans legdrop beating every man in site is dumber than hell
but the one of the worst is the wwe version of the walls of jericho a simple dumbass boston crab
the wcw version of the walls and the wwf version kicked ass

Xero 08-29-2005 10:16 AM

The Worm and Hogan's Leg Drop. Also, the Clothesline from hell. Really innovative there. Tazz says it best in one of the SmackDown! games... (In a really non-excited voice...) "Clothesline from Hell. :|"

Also, the way Cena did the FU to Jericho last week was actually pretty great. If he hit that version more often, it wouldn't suck as much. His usual FU is a very shitty DVD, though.

Masters may suck....but at least the Masterlock could probably make someone submit in real life, whereas a leg drop probably wouldn't finish someone off.

SuperSlim 08-29-2005 10:29 AM

I would have to go with Ultimate Warrior. I mean here you have a guy either lift youup over his head and drop you. He weighs 200 somethin. he runs agianst ropes comes back and does a piss poor splash on you and that's it?

Either that or he does multiple weak lookin clotheslines before doin that same crappy splash. I mean come on. If he was like 500 pounds or somethin then yeah.

Also there is teh Hogan Leg Drop, IT's always looked like a piece of crap, even years ago when he could actually do it. Specially now hwen after he nails the big boot he takes 30 seconds to decide that he wants to do the leg drop. That just really irritates me.

Modern times, The Pounce takes the cake. The most overrated shoulder block I've ever seen. I mean even if hte recipient is able to sell the mess out of it it looks like straight crap.

The Worm. He's doing a dance move, he has the fans into it, he chops the chest. IT'S ALL OVER! Come on. He nails them with a bulldog or kicks them. By the time he nails the worm he could've already pinned them and left.

RKO - I'll admit he has touched it up since before when he made it look like complete trash, but still it looks like trash.

Cena's FU. There are two versions. The realy crappy one isthe one he started doin for a while when he would just lift them up on his shoulder then toss them off. LIke a standing fireman's carry. THen there is the version where he actually drops. I'll admit it looks more effective when he drops with them, but still it's pretty crappy.

Submission style would have to be the new Walls of Jericho - WWE style. It either looks like a Boston Crab or it looks like he is just bending their legs. That's it. And the fact that people still sell it like ohhhhhhhhh massive pain when he ain't doin anything is kinda sad.

wwe2222 08-29-2005 10:40 AM

the berzerker's count out finish...i used to hate watching his matches knowing he was just gonna throw a guy out of the ring and Id have to wait that 10 seconds to watch a guy get counted out

roach21 08-29-2005 10:57 AM

This one's from a pretty long time ago, but I hated how Crush used the Heart Punch back in the WWF days. That annoyed the hell out of me. I'm not a big fan of the 619 either. It just doesn't sell to me.

Vastardikai 08-29-2005 11:21 AM

Johnny B. Badd's Sunset Flip off the top rope. I thought it was the most underwhelming finish in all of pro wrestling.

Kevin Sullivan's Belly Stomp is up there, too.

Not to mention, oh god, Kerry Von Erich's Discus Punch.

wwe2222 08-29-2005 11:31 AM

let us not forget about tatanka's chop from the top rope

Kane Knight 08-29-2005 11:54 AM

THA POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUNCE

LK 08-29-2005 12:06 PM

The Pounce, The Psychosis leg drop (I'm amazed that he hasn't broken his left leg yet), the Worm and the old F-U (at least he hits the deck now)

Sepholio 08-29-2005 12:34 PM

In all seriousness, Tank Abbot's punch to the head is pretty pathetic for a wrestling finisher, but would be one of the most devastating in reality. I mean you talk about a finish to a fight, a really nasty punch to the head usually knock someone cold.

blake639raw 08-29-2005 12:37 PM

Jeff Jarrett - the Stroke. I've always thought it was lame.

SuperSlim 08-29-2005 12:48 PM

well the way he does it really sucks. also it really depends on who takes it. If the guy taking it can't sell it well, and I've seen poor sellers take it, it really really sucks.

but if sold well it looks at least decent

The Fugitive 08-29-2005 01:04 PM

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I don't care who does it, Jeff Jarrett, Brian Christopher, even Chris F'N Jericho, it's a pretty crap-looking move, and I can't buy it as a finisher. I don't know about worst finisher, but in my opinion, it's pretty damn close.

Gertner 08-29-2005 01:30 PM

The worm, people's elbow

SuperSlim 08-29-2005 01:31 PM

well I can remmeber Jericho making it look decent at times. I never bought it as a finisher. Specially at some PPV. I think it was Survivor Series with the 5 on 5 match for control or whatever. Jericho got eliminated tso he nailed it on rock. The camera was close and you saw like Rock's hand hit the mat and his head was like bout 4 inches from hittin the mat.

That killed it for me.

I couldn't ever buy it as a finisher but times I could only when Jericho did it.

ThruTheWire 08-29-2005 01:50 PM

The Michinoku Driver.

Crashnburn 08-29-2005 02:03 PM

The Stroke
The Worm
The Pounce

and last but not least

The Finger Poke of Doom

Batsu 08-29-2005 02:16 PM

Heart Punch is the WORST.

Even seeing it, you're like.... GTFOOHWTPBJ.

The Worm is like the Y2K version of the Heart Punch.

The Leg Drop, done by a fat ass might actually work...but it's underwhelming.

.44 Magdalene 08-29-2005 02:22 PM

The Bronco Buster. Don't know if that counts or not.

SuperSlim 08-29-2005 02:26 PM

I don't think bronco buter was ever a finisher, unless Mae Young did it

Corporate Gr8 One 08-29-2005 05:28 PM

I'd say the cobra clutch. What opponent in their right mind would let you use your own arm against yourself.

Aussie Skier 08-29-2005 08:35 PM

what is the stroke?

cafctom 08-29-2005 09:24 PM

The FU. I like John Cena but everytime he does that move, I just can't help but think it is an anti-climax ending of a match. Infact, I think the sit out powerbomb that he does seems more of a legitmate finishing move.

The Pounce. I'm not even going to go into why this move is so poor.

The Worm. As a finishing move, it is horrendous. However, I can kind of accept it when I see it as it is blatant entertainment - It's not really meant to be a devastating match ending finishing move.

Well, X-Pac did it as sort of a secondary finisher / trademark move.

McLegend 08-29-2005 09:59 PM

X-Pac's X-factor was a terrible finisher IMO

FlashyT01 08-30-2005 12:37 AM

The Worm (It's a dance)
The FU (should be call PU cause it's stinks)
ROK (is just weak)

I disagree, the cobra clutch would be as scary as Hell in real life. The guy's choking you out WITH YOUR OWN ARM! That shows he owns you. Almost literally.

I love Psicosis' leg drop. He just doesn't use his leg to drop on you (realistically a senton bomb would probably be more effective than a leg drop), but he completely DRILLS you with it. Lethal stuff there.

Give Scotty back his kneel-out DDT from the second rope, please.

I haven't seen the Tornado Punch done, but I would imagine it could look brutal if pulled off right. Spinning around adding to the force of your fist while your opponent is dazed really plays off the term "finishing" move. They need to be almost done for you to get it.

The RKO is acceptable for me. Randy sort of leans into the move with a bit of force. I don't consider it a diamond cutter anymore. It's more of a mix between a diamond cutter and a bulldog for me, now.

The F-U is shit. In real life, a guy slamming you down (with the strength of Cena) could be crippling, but in an age where body slams and powerbombs are shrugged off, are we supposed to buy the fireman's carry as a finishing move?

Watson 08-30-2005 03:20 AM

Technically, the F-U is not a Fireman's Carry. In a Fireman's Carry you drop to your knees as you flip the guy over and you do in one smooth motion. With the F-U Cena is standing and he holds them up there for a bit before slamming them down. There's quite a bit of difference between a Fireman's Carry and an F-U.

Whatever Brian Knobs finisher was, that was the worst.

I think it was the pitstop..

diamondcutter 08-31-2005 10:27 PM

Edge's spear: This move should ONLY be used by larger wrestlers (Rhyno, Goldberg).

RKO: A disgrace to the man who may not have invented the move, but truly mastered it (see my avatar).

My Final Heaven 09-01-2005 02:54 AM

Everybody's named lots of moves where the rule "It may look crappy , but you still have to lay down for it" applies, but I'm suprised nobody's named the biggest shit move of them all: The Pedigree.

I mean, the move is actually pretty crappy looking if you take a step back. The announce team's been drilling into our heads that THE PEDIGREE!!!!!11!! is invincible & can kill a man in one blow for years, but all HHH is doing is hopping in the air & obviously landing on his knees. The Master Lock is the same way, it's INCREDIBLEUNSTOPPABLENOHOPEOFESCAPENOTMADEOFCHEESECAKE! but it's just lame if you take an objective look at it.

http://www.triplehunleashed.com/mm/gifs/9.gif

^ THAT, though, is one sick-looking pedigree. :shifty:

The Mandible claw. Perhaps the dullest move in the history of the wrestling, basically involving one guy putting his fingers in the mouth of the other guy in a kind of homo-erotic manner and with very little action.

It was just about bareable when the sock was incorporated

SuperSlim 09-01-2005 01:03 PM

well really the mandible claw can be rather devestating if applied properly.

BUt once the sock was included that was when that submission hold died for me.

cafctom 09-01-2005 07:09 PM

The 619. Everytime the opponent 'coincidentally' falls onto the 2nd rope, it just looks so planned and blatant.

Volchok 09-01-2005 07:30 PM

Yeah, the Mandible Claw actually works like a sonuvabitch if you do it right.

Is a full nelson actually supposed to be able to KO somebody? I've seen a shitload of full nelsons in my life and I've never even HEARD of somebody being put unconscious by one, but as of late I've been hearing "Masters doesn't do the full nelson correctly" and "it doesn't work if you do it that way", etc. Basically, the same descriptions I hear for Jericho's "new" Walls of Jericho. Have I been overhearing dumb people, or is a full nelson actually capable of doing shit like that?

Shadow 09-01-2005 10:54 PM

As of right now the worst finisher I've seen is...The Ego Trip. When you've got another person to help you, it doesn't look like shit.

When it's just you and the ropes...I don't think Lita could botch it worse.

McLegend 09-01-2005 11:02 PM

I love the EGO Trip. Especially when he doesn't use the ropes.

Ropes or no ropes great move

It would be a great move if he did it right all the damn time. It's just that half the time he doesn't do it right and it looks like shit. That's all I'm saying.

5. Bastion Booger Pin. Because really, having someone's dirty crotch in your face is pretty damn bad.

4. The Poooooooooooooooouuuuuunnnnce!!!!! At least bite them.

3. WORM. I've actually seen it finish someone. He must be the worst guy ever.

2. Hogan's Leg Drop. It's... a leg drop.

1. Hogan's Big Boot. So you run into a shoe, and it knocks you out for 75 seconds until Hogan drops his calf on you to knock you out another three seconds?

Volare 09-02-2005 11:24 AM

what about when HBK just started in singles comp and had that moded pump handle. Thought it looked weak

also, when Lex Luger was "The Narcissest" (however you spell it) in WWE(F back when he was in) he had that forearm hit and all of a sudden he had that metal plate that made the difference im like Whatsupwithdat???
