Official Royal Rumble 2004 thread
www.royalrumble.com
THE ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH The Royal Rumble match is widely known as the most exciting hour of the year. 15 RAW Superstars and 15 SmackDown! Superstars in the same ring, all vying for a shot at their respective championship. To date, the following Superstars have already entered the Rumble: RAW Superstars SmackDown! Superstars Kane Kurt Angle Booker T John Cena Goldberg Chris Benoit Scott Steiner Billy Gunn Christian Rikishi Chris Jericho Shelton Benjamin Mark Henry Charlie Haas Rico Nunzio The Hurricane Big Show Spike Dudley Matt Morgan Matt Hardy Tajiri Test A-Train Rene Dupree Ernest "The Cat" Miller Randy Orton Bradshaw Rob Van Dam Rhyno WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Dudley Boyz will look to regain the World Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble when they battle the champions, Ric Flair & Batista. This time, however, the challengers may have the upper hand going in to the match, as it will be a Tables Match. Undoubtedly, these stipulations must favor the Dudleys. Order Royal Rumble, live on pay-per-view to find out. Click here for photos. CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP The growing tension between Jamie Noble and Rey Mysterio will finally come to a head when Noble challenges Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Championship. Noble has attacked Mysterio recently when Mysterio tried to come to the aid of Noble's girlfriend, Nidia. Will Mysterio have some payback in store for Noble? Order Royal Rumble to find out. Click here for photos. WILL MICK FOLEY APPEAR? On the final RAW before Royal Rumble, Stone Cold Steve Austin issued an order to Mick Foley: Arrive at the Rumble to defend his Hardcore Legend status that has been discredited by Randy Orton, or Austin said he would drag Foley to the arena himself. Will Foley be at Royal Rumble to defend his honor? Order Royal Rumble to find out. <font color=Silver>Why is this up so early?</font>
|
Because wrestling_god HAS to be the one to start it, and he can do stuff that The Wall can never do.
|
Well, it's good to have a place set-up so I can do my PBP.
|
First PPV of 2004 and it looks like it's going to be a hell of a show. I'm looking forward to every match on the card, even the WWE title match, which is kind of weird considering Holly is in it. And the unpredictability and massive star power in the Rumble make it that much more exciting. I'm pumped for tomorrow night.
|
I'll be the first to say it...
The winner of the 2004 Royal Rumble will be... Billy Gunn! |
I Believe Chris Benoit will last a long time, infact I think He'll stay in for the last 4 men, Goldberg, Cena, Benoit and Kurt angle, The Smackdown team will team up against Goldberg, Benoit will lift Angle over while Cena get in behind and Throws Benoit out...
\_. John Cena ._/ ...well... yeah, That's what I hope happens :D -edit- well, Benoit could win... because of the "heyman wont give Benoit a title shot" thing :-\ |
Yeah that's why I was thinking Benoit would win cause it would kinda be like his "last chance" for a title shot and would build drama. Maybe he and someone else will go out simultaniously. It's been done before but I can see it happening.
Anyways, I can almost garuntee the final four wont be someone Angle, Goldberg, Benoit, and Cena. The four main guys are NEVER in the final four, and there is always one surpise final four guy. EX. Past rumble participants who have made it to the final four include Curt Hennig a few years ago, Henry Godwinn, and Fake Diesel. Those are just off the top of my head. |

Who is going to annouce the actual Royal Rumble match? Do Raw and Smackdown annoucers take turns?

I think I will watch it just for Triple H VS Shawn Micheals.
I don't really care about anything else. |
<font color=goldenrod>Benoit will win</font>

I don't trust the WWE to let Benoit win. My money is still on Goldberg.

You people need to get off of WG's case... really. He's posting a wrestling PPV thread in a wrestling forum on the day of the PPV. All that shows me is that he's excited about the PPV's and show's.
Tonight I'm more than likely going to be disappointed. My expectations are extremely high. I'm looking for a Foley return, Undertaker return, HBK Title win (almost impossible), and either Benoit, Cena, Orton, Jericho, or RVD to win the rumble. |
To pass time, I figured it would be interesting to copy / paste the Royal Rumble roster and Highlight everyone you would like to see come out a winner.

I'm actually excited about a PPV again, woo! The thing that sucks about Royal Rumble being today is that there are no football games to pass the time, AAARRGGHH!!
Today is gonna be so boring waiting around until RR starts. |
<font color=goldenrod>Because I'm bored, I'm going to attempt to guess #s 2-29 and then later on when I can find the results I will see how many I got right.

I just did a Rumble on my Smackdown HCTP video game... I entered the rumble number 1 as Benoit.
Ended up winning the Rumble with Cena. It would be nice if this was an Omen! |
Quote:
|
<font color=goldenrod>I did a Rumble in HCTP as well (using Batista, Steven Richards, Val Venis, Sean O'Haire, Ultimo Dragon, Lance Storm, Rodney Mack, and Rey Mysterio as alternates who best fit the guys that aren't already in the game that are in the actual Rumble)
I started as Benoit at #1 and I ended up going the distance and winning.</font> |
If I don't get at least an Undertaker tease with kane in the ring, Im going to be upset.

Anyway, Lance Storm won. |

What occurs to me this year is that for the first time in a LONG time, the winner of the Rumble isn't a foregone conclusion. Was there ever any doubt that Lesnar was going to win last year, or HHH the year before, or Austin the year before? Not to me. This year it seems that Goldberg and Benoit at least have an equal chance, and that Cena, Angle, and Kane are outside chances.
Personally I'm predicting Benoit to win, though that may be just because I can't stomach the idea of predicting Goldberg. Quote:
Or maybe even have both commentary teams and switch between them. |
Cause i got nothing better to do i will predict how all superstars will do.
Raw Kane:A late entry will dominate for awhile.. Takers Music will play (his coming like titantron stuff) Kane will be distracted whilst Booker T will take the oppertunity to eliminate him. Booker T: will enter around 18 - 24.. When Kane goes in he will go straight for Booker beating him up for abit.. The Taker thing happens which helps Booker eliminate Kane.. Kane gets Angry he quickly runs back into the ring and throws Booker T over the top. The 2 will fight all the way backstage.. (making this a mini feud till the raw before NWO seeming as thats a smackdown ppv) Goldberg: Well we already know his number 30.. I hope there will be atleast 10 - 12 Guys still in the ring by then. Goldberg Dominates and eliminates almost half the competitors in the ring. He will be in the final 4 and still seems unstoppable. But a silly mistake or a distraction will send him over. Scott Steiner: One of the final guys to be eliminated by Goldberg. Could slow Goldie down abit. Christian: Unfortunatly will probably be round midcard and wont last long. But it would be interesting if him and Jericho met at the same time. Christian slags off Jericho and Trish. Jericho eliminates Christian as Christian acts all shocked. This could lead to a mini Christian/Jericho feud. Chris Jericho: What i said up there and hopefully will last for quite some time... Maybe even into the final 4. Mark Henry: Once again another late entry. Be cool to give Goldie credability to eliminate Henry all on his own after a jackhammer or something. Rico: One of the early entries.. More then likely wont last too long. The Hurricane: Another early entry who probably wont last too long. Matt Hardy: A Mid entry will last for awhile but be eliminated just before no 30. Test: Another entry could last for sometime only to be eliminated just before the end. Rene Dupree: Will be one of the early entrys and more then likely will be one of the very first eliminations if not the very first. Spike Dudley:Will a) Be beaten up at the beginning of the night so he doesnt make it into the rumble match meaning Foley takes his place. B) If he does make it to the rumble.. Will be in the ring with somebody like the big show and actually look quite impressive for awhile. But the Dudley dog will be his big mistake as Show (who im using for example) will just with one hand chuck Spike out. Randy Orton: Will probably be a mid entrie and seem impressive after eliminating 2 jobbers. He aims for Benoit until he spots Foley. This will distract Orton which will get him eliminated. Rob van Dam: the one to eliminate Orton.. Unfortunatly might not be one of the last few in. Smackdown Kurt Angle: Runner up.. Hopefully will Angle slam Goldielocks over the top. One of the late entries. John Cena: Enter round mid card... Last a great amount of time. Hopefully one of the last guys left in the ring. Chris Benoit: Hopefully we will be looking this years Royal Rumble winner... After entering at No 1.. Benoit will take many a bump and bruise as Benoit will start to weaken making it look like his chances are slowly but surely decreaseing.. But somehow Benoit shall prove them all wrong and be the one guy left in the ring at the end of it all. Billy Gunn: Late entry.. Probably make it to the end. But will end up being one of Goldie or Kanes victims. Shelton benjamen: Probably one of the earlier entrys to be eliminated around haf way. Be cool to see him go one on one with Haas. Charlie Haas: Mis entrie and goes for Benjamen.. Double elimination. Nunzio: One of the early entries..Could last a little while.. But he'll be gone eventually. Big Show: Eliminate one or 2 jobbers.. Seem untouchable till kane throws him out. Matt Morgan: I actually think Matt Morgan will be an early entry. Could even be draw no 2. He will be the first guy to weaken Benoit. Tajiri: Early entry probably wont last to long. Ernest " The Cat " Miller: Probably this years joke entry.. He'll enter and try abit of dancing i have a feeling Rikishi will be the one to eliminate him.. Probably only last about a Minute.. most of that minute might be spent enetering the ring. Rikishi: Mid entry.. Will be eliminated by one of the bigger men. A- Train: Probably another Mid entry who will be thrown out just before 30. Bradshaw: Early entry.. Hopefully wont last too long. Rhyno: Unfortuantly probably another early entry..Lets hope he gets some decent time in the rumble. Either way i think this years line up is pretty good. Should be an interesting Rumble. |

The Winner of the Royal Rumble.....
CHRIS . . . . . . . . . JERICHO! Chris Jericho goes on to defeat World Champion Shawn Michaels at WM XX |
Quote:
|
Oh yeah, Chris Benoit will win. Because they are trying to make it look like he has no chance, hence hoping you will be suprised when he wins.
It's about time they made number 30 mean something though. Every year they make a big deal out of who gets to be 30, and yet number 30 has NEVER won the Royal Rumble as far as I can remember. So if Goldberg wins it would finally help establish 30 as a good number to be, unlike previous years where when they make someone the no. 30 entrant they are basically saying to everyone "this person won't win the Royal Rumble". |
I'd bet just about everything I have that Goldberg will NOT win tonight. Number 30, most dominate current WWE star... no way. The WWE loves to make things look obvious then pull a swerve.

He will be the world champ, Goldust will be the IC champ, and La Resistance will be the Tag Team Champions. |
The only was I would be happy if Benoit DIDN'T win the Rumble, would be if he then transfered to Raw the next night. Then the Triple H/Benoit match at Mania would make sence. But then, the only way that would work is to have someone from Smackdown win the Rumble, but I cant see them letting a Smackdown superstar win the Rumble two years running...unless it does actually turn out to be Benoit who wins.

i was thinking back to the last rr before wm x when two people won, luger who was supposed to be the marked man, like benoit is and bret hart who earlier got beat up by his brother, what if chavo beats up eddie bad and then eddie some how gets into the rr, and win in a joint victory with benoit, prolly wont happen but its my first post and wanted to share that idea with yas
|
Quote:
I have thought there could be two winners though. If that's the case I'm hoping one is from Raw, and one is from Smackdown setting up the double Main Event for Wrestlemania XX. |
i know eddies not in the rumbel why i wrote in my orignal post eddie somehow gets into the rumbel

Spanish Announce tAble... OH MAN, Somebody is going through that table tonight
|
First up is Dudley's and Evolution.
|
lol, who is "NIC" :D
|
is the match good?
|
Well, we start off with the World Tag Team Title match, The Dudleys vs. Ric Flair and Batista as I barely made time to order the thing. Batista wants the music cut. Yeah, I'd want that shit music turned off, too. They slug it out before the bell rings to start and it's a donnybrook on the outside. Bubba goes for wood early and slides it into Batista from all the way across the ring. D-Von and Flair start officially and Flair eats a powerslam and the Dudleys set up the wood. They try the double suplex but Batista moves the table. They double team Batista and he eats a neckbreaker and D-Von and Batista go to the outside. Flair slugs away with Bubba in the corner where a table is resting. Flip, Flop, and Fly but Batista takes him out and goes to work on D-Von. More punch-kick stuff going now. D-Von shoulder tackles Flair down and Batista takes the neckbreaker/backdrop combo from the Dudleys. Flair goes up top after dispensing of D-Von and that goes about as well as you'd expect for the poort guy. Coach leaves the announce table as the Dudleys set up the wood for a 3D. Coach gets brought in by Bubba and he gets set up for the Whassup Drop but Flair saves. D-Von clotheslines Flair down but Batista sneaks in to spinebust D-Von through the table for the win. Bleh. 1/2*
Meanwhile, Cena assures us that he's the one to bet on for the Rumble. RVD sneaks in to finish the rap for him in a hilarious segment. That was funny. |
Only one person through the table ends it? I thought you'd have to put them both through. Oh well, Batista and Flair retain.
|
WTF I thought you had to put both members through a table to win
