I have seen a Mondo match - it was one where a quartet of wrestlers destroyed over two dozen light-tubes and several tables wrapped in barbwire. One of the wrestler's elbows was ripped wide open. The post-match footage zoomed in on the cut for 2 minutes showing the extent and degree of the cut, almost glorifying the violence and endorsing the scarring of human flesh for entertainment. Great argument.

OK...so some people here honestly have probably never seen a Nick Mondo match. And actually if we didn't have fucking retards like Sadistic running around more then half of you would have never even heard the name Nick Mondo.

Having seen a show he was in live, AND also having watched countless other matches he has been in on Tape, I find myself to be in the position to be sort of the middle man here.

Now then, Nick Mondo is not a bad wrestler (a fact that Sadistic I am sure will throw in countless people's face, though couldn't tell you why it's true). Infact at times he can actually be quite good. The problem? He appeals to the lowest form of wrestling fan alive. I have seen him do ring psychology (rarely, but it happens) and hold out a decent match. BUT he made a choice. He CHOSE to go out there, smash shit over his head, do meaningless moves, and basically display as much violence as possible to get a new pay check and be able to call himself "a wrestler". On pure wrestling talent alone, he could not have "made it" in that his name would never be known. He knew that (I assume). So he did what he needed to do to make a name for himself and get signed for another show. Is it the right thing to do? Well no. You can never go broke so long as you stoop to the lowest level, BUT you can never immortalize yourself untill you live on a level all your own. What make Nick Mondo different then alot of high spot, lots'o'blood wrestlers was he did have at least some skill. But that doesn't matter. He is a worthless son of a bitch who did nothing but bank of an industry during a boom period masking himself as someone who knew what the fuck he was doing. As soon as you sign up to work a show at CZW...a company who prides itself on lightpole, scissors, "extreme/hardcore" violent shot...you are no longer a wrestler in my book. You are a sell out to sold out to the lowest form of acceptablility. If Kurt Angle showed his face at CZW, he would loose every spec of respect I hold for him. Now would that bother him? Hell no. He got another check. Does Nick Mondo give a fuck I think he is a fucking retard? No...nore should he. He is rich and famous...that or renting me my videos at Blockbuster...eitherway. My point is I don't give a fuck if he doesn't care about what I think, because quite frankly I don't give a fuck about him. What he displayed in the ring is what he will be judged by. The world judges us by our actions, his actions were deathmatches in CZW, talent or not, we can still judge him to be a worthless waste of the title "Wrestler".

I thought id throw my 2 cents in here.Now i have never seen CZW event so i cant say if there are any good but to base a wrestler reputation just because he wrestled for CZW is not fair.I go to shows in Mississauga once a month and there are wrestler there representing CZW or even some who use to wrestle there.There world champion is extreamly fun to watch.They you have guys like sexxxy Eddie or beef wellington who can put on 5 star matches when they chose.Plus the likes of Sonjay Dutt wrestled in CZW at one point as well.Does that mean he sucks because he use to wrestle for them?I dont think so.CZW as a whole maybe be crap but dont judge a wrestler based on one fed because alot of these guys can wrestle but use feds like CZW in hopes of gettin a break in something better

Your two cents are worth just that. I never gave the impression that everyone who has ever wrestled, attended or watched a CZW is a clueless backyarder. Mondo however made a living (well, almost a living) destroying his body from falls and through destruction of household implements.

I really have no issue with no-one who wrestles for CZW and who hasn't make CZW their life. The difference from Dutt is that Mondo only existed in CZW. Dutt on the other hand has showed more talent and sense to branch out and show to the world he is not just a prop.

I never said you did base other wrestlers on the apperances with CZW but other people on these boards have.

I've seen plenty of CZW. From clips you've personally uploaded yourself to CZW's Fake You TV on the Wrestling Channel. It's not the worst thing on there, but it's nothing to write home about.

I have no issues with CZW as long as what I'm watching is not interupted by barbwire, light-tubes and tables. I simply need something that has a story, that has psychology and that has emotion and meaning.

I'm not prejudice, even if CZW does stand for Combat Zone Wrestling, and I won't dismiss anything based on where it comes from and who it features. I'm not that impressionable or naive. No. See that's the point you are missing Sadistic. You think that as soon as well see a stiff kick, we see a high flying spot, we see a promo...that suddenly we love them. No. It doesn't work like that. I am not saying CZW is all hardcore light tube wrestling. In fact quite the opposite. On any given show there might be one or two matches like that. The point I am making is that the rest of the show, and the hardcore match of the show...they all suck. CZW is a group of wrestlers with very little talent to share between themselves, who do shit that makes no sense. A high spot is meaningless without the proper ring psychology to build up to it. TNA struggles with thsi idea as well. Fans of high flying wrestling seem to think that as soon as there is someone who leaps from a post we are going to bow down and think it's great. It isn't. I would rather watch Bret Hart jump from the second rope and do an elbow smash then see some fucking retard do a 720 splash. So don't bother uploading those videos, because you will never, NEVER sell a true wrestling fan on the idea that CZW is anything more then garbage.

And maybe if they marketed themselves as "the company behind Best of the Best," we might be more receptive, because a lot of the "Super Junior" style indy tournaments do wind up churning out pretty good talent. The ECWA Super 8 tournament is a prime example.

However, CZW (and Mr. Mondo in particular) have built their marketing strategy around the aforementioned deathmatches. So you'll forgive the people here who may never have seen a CZW show, but are familiar with the product, for only knowing about those matches. When you advertise yourself as "Combat Zone Wrestling" and have - as one of your key figures - a "worker" whose specialty is bleeding a lot, you will be looked down on by wrestling fans.

It's that simple.

I don't see what's wrong with the name. Death matches yeah, but I like the name.

Does anybody care about them now?
