That guy holding the "CM Punk is the next Shawn Michaels" sign

Saw it again. At SS and again on RAW (or SD!)

Agree or disagree?

Danny Electric says hi

Joey Slugs 12-03-2005 02:54 PM

He could be

thecc 12-03-2005 03:01 PM

Nah, he's the first CM Punk.

Joey Slugs 12-03-2005 03:05 PM

they also said that jeff hardy was the next HBK.

Well Jeff Hardy was basically a spot monkey and CM punk isn't.;)

Lock Jaw 12-03-2005 03:40 PM

Do you want to C My Punk? :naughty:

The Naitch 12-03-2005 03:41 PM

choke on my spunk

BigDaddyCool 12-03-2005 03:43 PM

So let me get this straight, CM Punk is going to make his career in a ladder match with one of his best friends. Then he and his closest friends are going to play the biggest political games in WWF since Hogan? In this time, he will be a key part in screwing over the pride of Canadian wrestling. Then lose the belt to the biggest star of the next era of wrestling and then not be seen really for 4 or 5 years? Then from there he will be one of the best reasons to watch Monday night Raw?

Because that seems a little far fetched.

CM Punk is overrated. This sign is another example of it.

I do think he's got personality and some charisma, but I'm not sold on him completely that he can adapt and standout in the WWE in the ring.

Innovator 12-03-2005 04:01 PM

you're overrated

hb2k 12-03-2005 04:03 PM

Nobody rates me in the first place, so there.

Anyway, I'm not saying he isn't talented, but he isn't the "next shawn michaels". In fact, no-one is. And I think all the people jumping all over Punk are a little blind to the fact that he has a lot of weaknesses as well.

Schoenauer 12-03-2005 05:17 PM

Shawn Michaels has weaknesses too, but some of us don't care because in this case, the good outweighs the bad.

Savio 12-03-2005 05:21 PM

Never seen him wrestle.

He isn't the next HBK, hell the closest to the next HBK was Jericho since he dressed like him when he started out.

Punk is a great technical wrestler, and can pull an entertaining 60 minute match out of his ass.

BlackDawn2024 12-03-2005 06:00 PM

I've never seen Punk before. When is he supposed to debut?

Innovator 12-03-2005 06:12 PM

Dunno, he's doing great things down in OVW as the TV Champ. Him, Brent Albright and Ken Doane are having a good 3 way feud

hb2k 12-03-2005 06:46 PM

Punk can have good matches, but so can Bryan Danielson, and WWE fans would likely crap on his style is what I'm saying. Punk better than your average indy guy, but I wouldn't consider him great, definitely not the next Shawn Michaels.

LK 12-03-2005 06:50 PM

Like it has been said he will be the first CM Punk.

redoneja 12-03-2005 07:13 PM

Seems like a good time to plug the new sig

Yeah WWE fans wouldn't take to Dragon, he's entertaining

John la Rock 12-03-2005 07:45 PM

CM who?

ThruTheWire 12-03-2005 07:47 PM

CM Punk will never even be worthy of carrying Shawn Michaels bags.

Why not? Triple H was.

Innovator 12-03-2005 08:50 PM

CM Punk is better than you

Mr. Nerfect 12-03-2005 09:05 PM

CM Punk reminds me of Triple H more than anyone else. He's got mic skills that are so great, everyone forgets how talented he really is. Punk is underrated, if anything, IMO. A lot of people talk as if he's a one-trick pony (good indy gimmick), and they overlook what really makes him great, and that me might just in-fact, be the whole package.

I am still hoping CM Punk feuds with Triple H heading into WrestleMania. John Cena vs. Triple H just doesn't interest me at the present time.

To you maybe, but understand that guys that don't exude personality and charisma rarely get taken to by the masses, in-ring work be damned. Like it or not, the wrestling world isn't what you want it to be.

Nark Order 12-03-2005 10:12 PM

Naw, Shawn pwns him

Innovator 12-04-2005 05:52 PM

Punk better debut before Wrestlemania, it's in his hometown where he pretty much is considered a god

By the 1,000 people that know him. Seriously, are you that delusional?

Very good, but that doesn't stop the fact that he has the charisma of a tube sock, and the complexion of one too. I know he's good in the ring, I've seen him wrestle a ton of times, and he's great in his role as champion, but I'm not sure if he has the standout personality or look that would make anybody give a damn about him in WWE.

I said that because the guy is showing personality recently

And you bet your ass I'm delusional.

Destor 12-04-2005 06:19 PM

I would just like to chime in and say what works for a few thousand on the Indy Circuit rarely works on a national level. Just ftr.

If Punk were to wrestle on the WM card, he would get one of the biggest pops of the night. Serious. He is THAT big here.

Trust me man, there are more than a 1000 people here in Chicago who know who CM Punk is.

Plus, I know him.

Joey Slugs 12-04-2005 10:20 PM

I have yet to see really see him in OVW, but is he using the sXe gimmick (not a gimmick to him)?

Danny Electric 12-04-2005 10:21 PM

No one said hi back.

What the fuck.

HeartBreakMan2k 12-04-2005 10:46 PM

No CM Punk (as good as he may be) is not the next Shawn Michaels. There will never be another Shawn Michaels, just as there will never be another Bret Hart, there will never be another Ric Flair and there will never be another Kurt Angle. Those are the 4 best (in my opinion) in the history of the business (not taking away from the accomplishments and talents of Billy Graham, Bruno Sammartino, or the like) and there will never be anyone to replace them. Punk has the potential to be one of the greats, but he's not the second coming of anyone.

The Naitch 12-04-2005 11:01 PM

If anything, he's like HBk and Triple H's love child or something

Zen v.W.o. 12-04-2005 11:29 PM

Teddy Hart owns CM Punk. And if people with brains were in charge, they'd see quick to signing this simply amazing talent.

They'd see that he's a highly unprofessional dick. One who's antics make even Shawn Michaels mid-90 bullshit look like just day to day business.

Innovator 12-04-2005 11:38 PM

I love when Teddy tried to break up a pin with a shooting star leg drop...came up short by 3 feet

Joey Slugs 12-04-2005 11:40 PM

Teddy Hart > no one

HeartBreakMan2k 12-05-2005 12:06 AM

Teddy Hart = dickhead who has the ability to wrestle, but chooses to be a spot machine and bank on the name "Hart"

The Naitch 12-05-2005 12:16 AM

Teddy Anus is more like it

Harley Race, eight time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and Hall of Famer, was the guest on In Your Head Wrestling Radio this past Wednesday. When ask which young wrestler today he would like to wrestle, Race said either CM Punk or Trevor Murdoch. Calling Punk and Murdoch "fantastic young guys," Race went on to compare Punk to Shawn Michaels, saying Punk's "as gifted as Shawn Michaels was in his time." When ask if he thought Punk would succeed in WWE, Race said yes, if WWE doesn't throw any roadblocks in his way. He conceded that Punk's size will work against him in WWE, but pointed out that Michaels had the same problem and overcame it. If Punk's given an opportunity, Race said, "they'll see his work is so good and they'll forget the size thing."

hb2k 12-05-2005 02:07 PM

Harley drinks a lot.

Vastardikai 12-05-2005 03:12 PM

Harley is also a man who commands a lot of respect and, for some, fear. I also hear he cooks a mean Bar-B-Q.

Trevor Murdoch thing is kind of biased, though, because Trevor did train at the Harley Race Academy.

In one of the Straight Shooting interviews (the one with Cabana) Punk tells a story about how Harley puked in the back on his car. He went the next day to get it cleaned:

Kid: "What happened back there man?"

Punk: "I'll let you in on something...you ever watch wrestling?"

Kid: "Yeah"

Punk: "You know who Harley Race is?"

Kid: "Yeah Harley was the man!"

Punk: "Yeah well thats his puke"

That video makes me want to have sex with CM Punk.

In a non-gay way of course. :shifty:
