Rocky 6: Rocky Balboa

Plot Summary

Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) has now been retired for some time, but hard-up for money, he decides to step back into the ring against a few small-time boxers. Everything changes, though, when Rocky is offered the opportunity to step in with the reigning Heavyweight Champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon. Does Rocky still have what it takes to make another Championship comeback??

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479143/plotsummary

Thoughts?

Nervous Ferret 01-06-2006 04:54 AM

LOL Mason "The Line" Dixon

D Mac 01-06-2006 04:56 AM

Antonio Tarver is playing Dixon, BTW.

RP 01-06-2006 04:58 AM

Thats like the life story of every current Heavyweight Contender.

Disturbed316 01-06-2006 09:47 AM

That is just Rocky 1 all over again, but with Rocky being 50 years old.

Guardian Devil 01-06-2006 10:35 AM

Yeah, this sounds like it's going to be terrible. I'm a big, big Rocky fan...it's my favorite movie. Might have to avoid this one like the plague. Yeah, and supposedly Adrian dies between 5 & 6.

weather vane 01-06-2006 12:00 PM

I don't care how bad it might be. I am still right pumped for this.

Cinderella Man

**cough**

They are already in the works for Rocky 7

I want to see this, but it'd be ten times better with Dolph Lundgren again.

DRAGO FTW!

Drago: I must break you, again.
Rocky: Yo, no way.

Retirement home orderly: Sorry guys, but it's 7:00, time for bed.

snakeboss 01-06-2006 04:00 PM

Talk about beating a good film to death.

Rocky 1 was great.
Rocky 2 was amazing.
Rocky 3 was good.
Rocky 4 was unnessacary.
Rocky 5 was awful.

Morgan 01-06-2006 04:10 PM

He's also making Rambo IV.

They Should have Mason Dixon Kill Adrian then rocky has to fight to bring her back alive, somehow.

Rocky 4 was my favorite :-\

I dunno if I'm excited about the new Rocky film. I mean they're some of the best films ever IMO and with the new film-editing capabilities this could look really good. However Sly is around 50 years old now, and I don't ever recall a boxer that old challenging for the heavyweight title? I'm not the biggest boxing fan and I'm only 15 so there could have been some, although it seems pretty stupid to me.

I really hope it is good. Cinderella-Man was excellent, but Rocky is the daddy.

John la Rock 01-07-2006 03:07 PM

i hope it turns out good too. but Rocky 5 was the biggest piece of shit i have ever seen

True Rocky is the daddy.

And although Rocky was the best, Rocky IV ruled ass.

Disturbed316 01-08-2006 02:53 PM

Rocky 4 seemed waaaay to forced. And the whole speach at the end about if "he and Drago can put their differences aside then why cant the countries etc" made me wanna stab my ears with a rusty blade.

Sephiroth 01-08-2006 05:03 PM

Meh, I really liked Rocky I through IV with III being my favorite.

I don't know what to expect from this one, i always liked the Rocky franchise and i hope they don't screw this one up.

Guess we'll have to wait and see :-\

D Mac 01-08-2006 05:08 PM

What are you doing online?

weather vane 01-09-2006 11:55 PM

It will be decent.

Rocky V wasn't THAT bad either. I appriciate the series as a whole.

Fox 01-10-2006 04:47 PM

Fuck that shit.

I found the REAL plot summary on imdb.com:

ROCKY VI

Rocky Balboa has been retired for some time, but hard-up for money, he decides to rob a liquor store for cash and booze to drink his life away. Caught, thrown into jail, and abandoned by his son and his wife Adrian (who leaves him for Rocky's lawyer, played by Michael Richards), Rocky is alone behind bars. He leads his fellow prisoners to find meaning in their lives, all the while being poorly treated by the prison gaurds, led by Officer Danielsan (Ralph Macchio, making his re-emergance into film). This leads to a final showdown between Balboa and Danielsan, if Balboa wins he gets out of prison, and if Danielsan wins he'll become the All-Valley Karate Champion. It's a tour de force, coming to a theater near you when hell freezes over (9/11/06).

samichna 01-10-2006 05:37 PM

So how does a prison guard beating up a prisoner become a karate champion and how does Rocky winning mean he leaves prison? Did anyone actually put any thoughts at all in ths movie?

Im still going to see it though.

It was a parody.

Ralph Macchio is from The Karate Kid. It was a joke.

D Mac 01-22-2006 01:34 AM

Wow, someone who has never heard of Karate Kid? :?:

D Mac 01-28-2006 04:26 AM

Sly is keeping himself in shape at least.

The Heat 01-28-2006 06:24 PM

The whole Rocky series was good to me. Rocky V wasn't as good as 1-4, but, it was decent. As long as Stallone doesn't keep making sequels, it'll be ok.

It would be more believable though, if it were Rocky's son fighting in Rocky VI.

MVP 12-23-2006 12:59 AM

Saw it tonight. It was WAY better than I expected it to be. Nothing overdone, just a straight-up great movie to cap off the series. Definitely one of the movies of the year.

Blitz 12-23-2006 01:56 AM

Saw it tonight. It was alright, like a 6/10. There were a few bizarre touches that kinda took me out of the movie, and I wasn't a fan of the fight sequence.

Dunno, maybe if I'd seen the other movies I would've been more into it.

D Mac 12-23-2006 02:12 AM

lol this is your first Rocky?

Blitz 12-23-2006 02:14 AM

That would be what I indicated by the whole "maybe if I'd seen the other movies" comment.

Champion of Europa 12-23-2006 02:19 AM

I really enjoyed it.

Made me want to buy the box set, which I probably will.

I'd reply with some sort of ironic/funny Rocky quote here, if I knew any of them.

Shaved Monkey 12-23-2006 02:52 PM

Somebody spoil the ending for me, please. I am still going to go see it, but I wanna know what happens in the end.

Blitz 12-23-2006 04:49 PM

Spoiler for the end (Rocky loses the fight. It goes the distance and ends in a split decision from the judges in favour of Dixon)

Respond to his I must break you comment with "Go for it."

That should do you fine :y:

Go for it

KillerWolf 12-25-2006 07:42 AM

Rocky 2 & 3 are not terrible, but Rocky [1] is the only one that really holds up. 2-5 were unnecessary.

RP 12-25-2006 04:25 PM

Bad Company 12-25-2006 10:22 PM

There's a DVD Rip of it available on mininova for those who would download it. It was OK, nothing special, It wasn't really what I was looking for in the ending, but still better than 5.

M-A-G 12-27-2006 08:11 AM

Pfft, they don't even have the balls to actually call it Rocky 6.

Arnold HamNegger 12-27-2006 07:14 PM

I went into it expecting a total trainwreck, but was very pleasantly surprised. It's actually very inspirational IMO. It was very slow moving in the beginning and I never really got into the "Champ" character though. But overall I thought it gave Rocko a good send off. Plus, there's some great Paulie!

Hostess: "Excuse me sir, do you have a reservation?"

Paulie: "I ain't no freakin' indian!"

Bad Company 12-27-2006 08:55 PM

Mike Tyson makes me rofl.

Best Rocky Line Ever.

Rock Bottom 12-28-2006 03:25 PM

This movie was decent, honestly though it just made me want to watch Rocky 1-4.

Nervous Ferret 12-28-2006 04:57 PM

I thought it was pretty terrible, not as bad as 5 but really how could it have been.

It did really make me want to watch 1-4 though also

Disturbed316 12-28-2006 05:03 PM

It's not out till the 19th of January over here, cant wait.

weather vane 01-06-2007 12:19 PM

THIS MOVIE WAS UNREAL!

I got shivers like 20 times

I am also a HUGE Rocky mark though

"No lil Marie ... it ain't alright"

Corndad 01-06-2007 11:27 PM

Spider Rico made the movie for me. Im really glad they made this now. It ends on alot better note then it did after Rocky 5.

Great. Definately gonna get it to complete set when it gets put out.

Downunder 01-08-2007 07:42 AM

I dunno I expected it to suck big time (but that didn't stop me downloading it). Now I dunno if it was the music, the training montage or the fight sequence, but that movie really sucked me in. I loved it :'(

Nervous Ferret 01-10-2007 12:21 AM

Yeah you better be careful or the montage will get you
