Most Boring Sport?

For me, i'd have to go with NASCAR. (if that is considered a sport.) I mean, i'd rather watch a round of golf then watch cars make multiple left turns all day.

toxic rooster 01-20-2006 01:58 AM

I'd say basketball.

Or as my brother calls it, basket TERRIBLE

Nervous Ferret 01-20-2006 02:02 AM

soccer

I can't watch it. at all. It can be alright to play sometimes th0

darkpower 01-20-2006 02:26 AM

Golf WAS boring, until Tiger Woods made it cool to watch it again.

But I don't know if I could say which sport is boring. More like, what sport do I think is getting more hype than it deserves...which brings me to this craze for Texas Hold-Em Poker championships. Since when did anyone care about any of these things. I mean, I'm caught being curious from time to time, but I don't get why ESPN is carrying poker games now. What is the big deal?

Requiem 01-20-2006 02:31 AM

Anything is amazing if you like it. Personally, I hate baseball.

I also hate golf... but, I LOVE watching the Texas Hold'em tourneys on TV.

D Mac 01-20-2006 02:41 AM

About golf, yeah it may be boring on tv. But try playing it. Trust me, it's very addictive. :y:

weather vane 01-20-2006 03:17 AM

NASCAR

Downunder 01-20-2006 08:26 AM

Baseball - closely followed by gridiron

yianni 01-20-2006 08:42 AM

ahahaha where's Y2C? Come on you cunt this topic is set up nicely for you to spill your guts

For me the worst sport is gridiron. Wtf is going on there. :|

toxic rooster 01-20-2006 08:49 AM

Oh come on. How is a sport more boring than basketball possible. YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT YOU CUNTS

yianni 01-20-2006 08:55 AM

In my opinion the most boring sport ever has to be one which is both boring to play and boring to watch

Basketball is shit to watch but fun to play. Gridiron is just fucking shit all round.

Paranoid Rattlesnake 01-20-2006 08:56 AM

Rugby Union

The Mackem 01-20-2006 09:00 AM

That speed cycling stuff mainly because I just don't understand it.

The Gooch 01-20-2006 10:02 AM

For me it has to be Men's Tennis and Volleyball. The ball travels too fast so there are no rallies. Women may be inferior athletes in these sports, but I'd rather watch a women's match any day as opposed to the men. The only time men's tennis is good is at Wimbleton where the grass slows down the ball.

Regular season major league baseball bores me. I think it has more to do with the fact that the schedule of 162 games makes games meaningless. Playoff baseball is great.

Golf is only boring if you've never played the sport. When you play a few rounds you'll come to appreciate how talented these guys are. Same goes for curling.

YOUR Hero 01-20-2006 10:04 AM

Nascar is a good pick. Never been a fan of motorcar races. Soccer too for me, although I've seen some really great games. Like Mackem said, it helps to fully understand them.

toxic rooster 01-20-2006 11:10 AM

Ice hockey is ridiculously hard to follow cos you can never see where the puck is

Gertner 01-20-2006 11:14 AM

NASCAR isn't a sport.

anywho, most boring sport to watch is Tennis.

Cool King 01-20-2006 11:16 AM

American Football and Baseball.

Team Sheep 01-20-2006 12:25 PM

I've really gone off soccer lately, compared to football it's so damn boring. Football is now my favourite sport to watch, followed by Rugby Union.

Blitz 01-20-2006 12:28 PM

(American) Football, hands down.

Skippord 01-20-2006 02:16 PM

baseball,soccer,and NASCAR

D Mac 01-20-2006 03:12 PM

LOL at the Americans saying soccer and the Aussies/Others saying American football/gridiron. :D

Skippord 01-20-2006 03:47 PM

Seriously though Baseball Mostly cause the Rockies suck horribly

punt 01-20-2006 04:03 PM

punt 01-20-2006 04:38 PM

Joey Slugs 01-20-2006 04:49 PM

i love to play it, but golf is so boring to watch sometimes (outside of the majors and the ryder cup)

MVP 01-20-2006 06:36 PM

NASCAR and tennis

This thread is just a set up for the age old argument, American sports vs. the rest of the World.

Yadda yadda the world says American football and Americans say soccer. Thread settled.

Cool King 01-20-2006 08:52 PM

But Cricket is boring.

It has stupid rules and only about 4 countries play the damn thing. And the biggest thing (I've heard of) in Cricket is The Ashes. Who the hell would wanna win something the size of your pinkie fingrer full of ash?

But I'm happy you agree with me on the other two sports.:)

Gonzo 01-20-2006 08:59 PM

I'm just letting you know that you're full of shit, Cool King!

Nervous Ferret 01-20-2006 09:49 PM

ya dum thrread. Us Americans worship how you say "gridiron" like it is the second coming of christ, and we all just collectively don't care about soccer. For you Eastern Hemispherians, it is a 180. This will never change.

toxic rooster 01-20-2006 09:54 PM

Well, I like baseball.

And soccer.

And cricket.

which puts me somewhere in the middle

Gonzo 01-20-2006 11:30 PM

Baseball a basketball are fine to play, boring to watch. I love football, absolutely love it. Hockey, eh, I can watch the playoffs if the Devils are in it, then I'm mildy interested. Anything else I find dull.

What NerF said is 100% true though.

Loose Cannon 01-20-2006 11:33 PM

Fencing, Bowling, Darts, The Outdoor Games, Sumo, Spelling Bee

Loose Cannon 01-20-2006 11:34 PM

god, what is ESPN thinking sometimes?

toxic rooster 01-20-2006 11:36 PM

I like poker, but it's no sport.

Zen v.W.o. 01-21-2006 12:12 AM

Out of the sports I mostly get to see up here, it's baseball. Too slow. Basketball sucks too, you cant touch anyone for fear of a foul.

Curling is boring, but you can drink a beer while playing it.

I never see many euro sports and stuff, but if Cricket is anything like baseball then that wouldnt be fun.

Soccer can get boring when they keep going backwards and heading the damn thing. Move forward damnit and take shots on net!!

toxic rooster 01-21-2006 12:33 AM

That's how you play soccer though. Just pick the easiest man to play it to, play it to them and give them an option. Occasionally do something flashy or tricky, but the important thing is keeping the ball.

Cricket is great.

Joe Blow 01-21-2006 01:01 AM

Hockey. Unless a fight breaks out.

Well this dum thread seems to be quite the conversation now does'nt it? :p

The Gooch 01-21-2006 02:05 AM

The only sport not mentioned is dodgeball. We all know this is the only true sport.

BTW I am soooooo pissed right now I should really be in bed.

CNM 01-21-2006 02:10 AM

soccer and NASCAR

CNM 01-21-2006 02:10 AM

They're still trying to get it in the olympics. :o

toxic rooster 01-21-2006 02:22 AM

The olympics mean nothing. Figure skating is not a sport. Gymnastics is not a sport.

D Mac 01-21-2006 02:58 AM

Cool then put it in. :y:

toxic rooster 01-21-2006 02:59 AM

Anything which is decided qualitatively and not quantitatively is not a sport.

The Mask 01-21-2006 03:43 AM

i don't know if all american football is the same, but judging by the superbowl i'll have to say that. you get like 2 hours intro, they start, guy throws the ball, guy gets crocked, some stats come up on screen, go back to break, come back from break, more stats, game stats again, they throw the ball and everyone plows into each other and they move about 2-4 metres either way, stop, stats, break.

that and i find it quite difficult to actually see where the ball is when everyone is smashing into each other all across the field.

other nominations include golf, and cricket.

Well there's a little bit more to it then that but that's cool. ;)

The Mask 01-21-2006 04:13 AM

well yeah i know there is, but i can only sit through commercials for so long. even if it was the live angelina jolie dildo cam. that's how bad it is.

Team Sheep 01-21-2006 09:01 AM

But you need commercials to refresh yourself from the excitement from each drive. Especially if it's your team in the play-offs, it can be pretty hard going. ;)

G-wrath 01-21-2006 09:28 AM

Fishing. Worst sport EVER. Unless you're the one fishing. But to watch on T.V. it's so damn boring.

Regular games have better flow. The Superbowl has companies paying millions just to get a 30 second commercial spot. They have so many commercials its ridiculous. It really detracts from the game, in my opinion. The game is still usually fun to watch, but sometimes the ridiculous amount of commercials in the Superbowl can be a pain in the ass.

Zen v.W.o. 01-21-2006 02:17 PM

That's why the Grey Cup is better..it's not about corporations, it's about the game. Thus every game is always exciting.

Can you really call fishing a sport, though?

G-wrath 01-22-2006 05:53 PM

Well they show it a lot on the New England Sports Network. Dunno about ESPN.

D Mac 01-22-2006 05:58 PM

Yep, Fox Sports Network has fishing shows.
