Too Much Pre Debut Hype

So I was remembering WCW when they had that "Blood Runs Cold" pre debut hype for Glacier. They played it for several weeks and when he finally debuted he turned out to be just another low/midcarder.

Any wrestlers you can think of that were Over Hyped and they did'nt really go anywhere?

LK 01-23-2006 08:00 PM

Mordecai

Blitz 01-23-2006 08:02 PM

I was so fucking hyped for Glacier. I was all like "OMG, Sub Zero's coming to WCW!!!"

Anyway, hows about good ol' Shockmaster? Or the Black Scorpion? And we can't forget the Gobbledygooker.

Linkbowler 01-23-2006 08:03 PM

Brakus

Blitz 01-23-2006 08:03 PM

LOL Mordecai. I was super hyped for him too.

His debut wasn't a bad one, he was the first person to beat Kurt Angle, and it was a surprise I thought, could be wrong.

Anyway what about Seven!

Azriel 01-23-2006 08:40 PM

Sean O' Haire

Mordecai, Masters

Skippord 01-23-2006 10:25 PM

I miss Mordecai

NeanderCarl 01-23-2006 11:00 PM

Brakus (Achim Albrecht) actually did have a WWF match that was released on VHS back in (I think) 1998 called Mayhem In Manchester which was the ill-fated 2nd UK only PPV which never actually made it to PPV. I think he fought Tiger Ali Singh but don't hold me to that.

Come to think of it, he had a match in the Brawl For All tournament as well. Against Savio Vega I think.

Nark Order 01-24-2006 01:18 AM

O'Haire.

Stickman 01-24-2006 01:25 AM

I can't remember Brakus for the life of me

I pity the fool who puts Mr T and Brakus in the same sentence.

Also, Brakus was actually the bad guy in some shitty action movie.

His entrance theme could have been...

"I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK! I sleep all night and work all day!

Close, actually it was Jeff Jarrett (who defeated him via submission). And as for his Brawl For All, yeah he fought in it and had a horribly embarassing lose to Savio Vega...

Brawl For All = Career suicide for most who took part.

Chris Jericho

Corkscrewed 01-25-2006 03:36 AM

That attempt at being funny failed. Sorry bud. :wavesad:

Anyway, off the top of my head:

- Shockmaster (duh)
- Tazz in WWE (choked out Angle; great! everything went downhill from there)
- Sean O'Haire (Piper stole this thunder)
- Mordecai (it was cool, but then it ended after a month)
- Hirohito (never materialized; Kenzo wasn't much better)
- Ultimo Dragon in WWE (boy did they screw that one up after three weeks)

You laughed and you know it.

Chuck Jones 01-25-2006 05:34 PM

Trytan in TNA. One of their many mistakes in 2005.

The One 01-25-2006 05:45 PM

LOL...I remember Trytan...I don't know that they were hyping him so he could get over so much as so he could have some hype (since no one gave a fuck about him) so that when Brown pinned him maybe someone might care.
