Most obscure thing you remember?

Think hard, and post the most obscure/forgotten thing from wrestling you can think of that you remember.

I remember reading in WWF magazine about some people who won a contest to have dinner with any Superstar. They chose Stone Cold and the cheap-asses took him to Sizzler. :wtf:

CYCLOPTERSAURUS 02-04-2006 09:37 PM

I remember Rock beating Gangrel with the People's Elbow.

Champion of Europa 02-04-2006 09:40 PM

I remember Hulk Hogan giving an nWo promo, and the crowd were chanting at him. He said at the end of the night he was going to have the nWo beat down the entire audience.

I was younger and didn't know wrestling was fake, so I was concerned for the audience. Because we all know like 20 guys can take on a few thousand.

D Mac 02-04-2006 09:41 PM

I remember Disco Inferno.

KillerWolf 02-04-2006 09:50 PM

i remember some parts of certain installments of "the funeral parlor" verbatim.

D Mac 02-04-2006 09:54 PM

I remember Paul Bearer was a commentator on Saturday Nights Main Event one time and every time some one said "Body" or "Bodies" he would make this wierd face and go "BODIES?".

Joey Slugs 02-04-2006 09:58 PM

I remember when WCW was on the top of the wrestling world and the WWF nearly buried themselves because they had nothing but gimmick wrestlers running around.

D Mac 02-05-2006 12:59 AM

I remember John Cena was champ. Wait that's something I WANT to forget.

Loose Cannon 02-05-2006 01:01 AM

I remember when I tried to immitate Lex Luger once with a steel plate in my forearm and drill my brother, but he moved and I cracked the living room window.

ddpBANG 02-05-2006 02:15 AM

I can't recall the year, but the Royal Rumble had a few guys in it who weren't even a part of the WWF. This was before we had the internet so news didn't spread so fast, and I didn't know anything about wrestling in Japan. Whomever was doing play by play talked about how "So and so here is from Japan. Everyone wants to win the Royal Rumble!"

They actually were contracted with wwe. At one point they had Genichiro Tenryu, And at another they had Jisei Shinzaki as Hakushi.

Fignuts 02-05-2006 03:48 AM

This probably doesn't count but my mom went to see andre the giant while she was pregnant with me.

Been a fan ever since.

As far as I remember Tenryu was involved in the 94 Rumble and was terrible. I don't think management allowed him to do anything more than just slaps.

Chavo Classic 02-05-2006 07:10 AM

I obscurely remember D'Lo Brown going shopping for Terri Runnels because he caused her "miscariage". Although I think my mind has tryied to block that out for me.

Xero 02-05-2006 10:54 AM

I remember Big Show and Austin pulling down the TitianTron. That was awesome.

Mike the Metal Ed 02-05-2006 10:55 AM

Beaver Cleavage's debut!

Loose Cannon 02-05-2006 10:57 AM

oh remember when the Oddities first debuted and they were like real carnival freaks and were heels. They came out to some haunting music and the Jackal was like thier leader.

It reminded me of the movie "Something wicked this way comes"

jerichoholic169 02-05-2006 11:01 AM

Moppy

Volchok 02-05-2006 11:08 AM

Just John 02-05-2006 11:26 AM

Mae Young giving birth to a hand

Volare 02-05-2006 12:00 PM

Mae Young trying to pull off a Bronco Buster..

Things that make you go.....Buhhhh!

Chuck Jones 02-05-2006 12:06 PM

Key was Vic Grimes, brought in to be one of Droz's friends. He was originally supposed to be called Kilo, and he'd be a coke addict.

Y3J 02-05-2006 12:09 PM

Kane's Biceps

Shadow 02-05-2006 01:06 PM

I remember when Jeff Hardy kissed Trish.

That was at KOTR 1998. Al SNow wrestled Too Sexy and they put a bottle of Head and Shoulders on the Head and pinned it.

Disturbed316 02-05-2006 06:18 PM

During the Warrior/Hogan feud part II, when Hogan (and the audience) saw Warrior in the mirror and started to freak out, yet Bischoff and the rest of the nWo said "What are you talking about Hogan, no one is there?"

Corkscrewed 02-05-2006 06:37 PM

I remember like 15 years ago, on network TV, they were doing some weird Octoberfest thing so everyone was dressed in German suspenders and stuff and chowing down, and then someone like Tugboat started a food fight. So it turned into a big food fight.

I remember when Big Bossman dragged Big Show's dad's casket around the cemetery.

I remember the "I Still Remember..." note. :shifty:

D Mac 02-05-2006 06:38 PM

I remember the empty arena match between The Rock and Mankind halftime at the Super Bowl.

*A call comes in and the Rock answers*

Rock: "Hello Smackdown hotel. No Mankind can't come to the phone right now he's busy with the Rock's foot in his ass!"

Mankind pinned Rock with a forklift BTW.

Disturbed316 02-05-2006 07:14 PM

With a very dodgy camera shot of Rocky's face when the create was being lowered.

Xero 02-05-2006 07:18 PM

I remember calling to D'Lo during RR 2000's (I think) Heat (they were taping like four rows down) telling him he ruled and he looked at me like I was crazy.

Kaientai. John Wayne Bobbitt.

I remember Venis pursuing Kaientai's creepy, middle-aged leader's eerily young and hot wife. And later, when that went sour and she'd gone back to middle-aged fellow, and she tried to return to Venis, he refused her, left the ring, and tossed several large batteries at her. And half the crowd looked confused.
And lo, for I did laugh.

Vastardikai 02-05-2006 11:50 PM

I remember watching a Juicer match, who always came down with a bunch of kids with him.

Skippord 02-06-2006 12:01 AM

I remember 3 weeks of this huge guy with black hair ref-ing a certain matches. I can't remember for whom, and they never said his name, but the last time we saw him was after a match, the guy was seen backstage walking into Viunce's office with a big ol' smile and the commentator (I think Cole) was like, "That's the refereee--who IS this guy?!"

....And then he was never seen again

Dan Electro 02-06-2006 08:02 AM

anyone remember the U.N.I.O.N.?
Consisted of Test, Shamrock, Mankind and the Big Show, i always thought it was a nifty gimmick, but they just kinda went "HEH NO THANKS" and dropped it after like 2 months..

That whole corporation/ministry year or so was awesome though..

Vastardikai 02-06-2006 08:53 AM

He is coming back...
For weeks Dustin Runnels talked about how he is coming back, and talked about how people should read the bible. What group was he from?

Evangelist
Against
Televised
Media
Entertainment

The porn star, Val Venis, made fun of this. He said "I have come" and other things to throw off Dustin. This goes on for a few weeks, then Val Venis, with Dustin's wife, Terri, cuts a promo in the ring... We see Goldust on the titan tron and he says "I told you he's coming back!"
This was the intoduction to The Shattered Dreams.

*Edit- added the thing with Terri

I still remember, I think it was the second ever King of the Ring, they had a "Come as you are" battle royale, and Leaping Lanny Poffo (I'm pretty sure this was before he became "The Professor") came to the ring in a suit of medieval armor.

I still remember Glacier.

I still remember Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw.

I still remember "Superstar" Bill Dundee and "Dirty" Dutch Mantell as wrestlers, not valets.

I still remember Sid Justice (who the hell came up with that gimmick, anyway)

What I really want to remember is the names of all the midgets in the Doink vs. Lawler 8-man tag match.

The Rockers last match on TV was for the tag team titles vs The LOD. It ended with Marty dropkicking Hawk in the back, while Hawk was holding HBK for a powerslam. LOD got the win, then The Rockers broke up.
They also had a title shot vs The Demolition, which ended up with some foul play, and the LOD and the Hart Foundation coming out to complain about it.

I also remember when the Scenes from a Hat thread was one of the hottest threads we had...

NeanderCarl 03-03-2006 09:55 PM

I remember Reo Rogers and, at 10/11 years old, thinking it was shit.

I remember Steve Armstrong as Lance Cassidy in the WWF for like one match.

I remember Max Moon leaping onto the ring apron while Gorilla would tell us he was using rockets to propel him up there, and the ring announcer introduced him as Maximillion Moon!?!?

I remember GTV!

I remember Alex The Pug Porteau coming out to the Steiner Brothers old theme in 1996 and disappearing soon after.

I remember Tracey Smothers as Jim Ross' favourite wrestler Freddie Joe Floyd, pinning the future JBL.

I remember The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels stealing the show from week to week on WWF Shotgun, yet never making the main shows. I also remember what I believe were the last words Gorilla Monsoon ever spoke on WWF TV and they were "Holy Mackeral!" after somebody had just pinned D'Lo Brown on Shotgun in 1999. He commentated on Shotgun around the 98/99 mark shortly before he fell ill and later passed away. However, he was very different from the "classic" Gorilla, he was pretty subdued and he spoke so little you usually forgot he was even at the booth, he only piped in with a Holy Mackeral! or a quick cliche every now and again. Shame.

Hell, I remember Shotgun! And LiveWire! And Mania! And All-American with Todd Pettengill, Gorilla Monsoon, Ted DiBiase (who apparently used his millions to redecorate his half of the set, so it was up to his luxury standards, complete with that touch of class, A BOWL OF FRUIT!), Johnny Polo, Bobby Heenan, Stan Lane....

I remember The Wizard! The unseen commentator of Superstars in 1993. I think it was really Bruce "Brother Love/Reo Rogers" Pritchard.

Man if only my memory was this good OUTSIDE of wrestling knowledge, I'd be unstoppable!

vampiro03 03-03-2006 09:59 PM

wow!
Preach-on brother man
speaking of entrence themes, The Patriot used Kurt Angle's theme while he was in the wwf.
