Ghostbusters 3
Does anybody here have a copy of the script Dan Aykroyd wrote in 1999 for Ghost Busters In Hell?
I know there were copies floating around on the net a few years back but I can't seem to find one now. Doesn't look like it's ever going to be made either :'( |
Yah let me get that for you.
|
That would be sweet. I quite enjoyed those busters of ghosts.
|
They should have made like 90-91 movies in that series. That way, they would have been sure to have beaten that horse to death.
|
Didn't they include the script on the new Ghostbusters 1+2 set?
|
Nope. I have the new set and no script there.
|
YOUR Hero, how can you "beat the horse to death" by only making 2 movies? You've got an all-time classic, and then a nice little companion in the underrated sequel. Hardly squeezing every last drop out of it, is it?
And if they do eventually make a third, then it will be at least 18 years after the last one.... not exactly sucking the franchise dry, more simply an affection for the movies and a want to re-explore these characters again. The way I see it, even a bad GhostBusters 3 movie would still entertain me and make me mark out more than any other movie I've seen in years, and would excite me more than any forthcoming movie I've heard about. |

plus Harold Ramis weights about 300lbs now...hes no longer the slender looking Egon.
That being said, I wouldnt mind another Ghostbusters movie...I was a huge Ghostbusters fan of the movies and cartoon. |
And yea, I think all of them are in the 300 lb range now and alittle hairless, last I saw. It seems they could do a Space Cowboys 2 then a GB3, but still... I would like to see another one. I predict in the sequel they'd do some wacky pop culture crap in it like with Mr. Bobby Brown, but this time they'd have like 50 Cent or Good Charlotte as ghosts or some crap. So bring on Ghostbusters 3 anyways...
Then again, I'd like to see another Gremlins so what do I know. |
Thing is, although a Gremlins 3 may be good, there haven't been any rumours about it, no script has ever been written for it, nor have deals attempted to be made with studios. My appetite has been whetted for GB3 though, because there was so much buzz about it for a while. My hopes were raised.
I think the writers are talented enough to get past the fact they have all aged a bit since the first one, and I guess any physical exertion on their part would be limited to just a few scenes. The original idea was to have three new Ghost Busters, whilst the original four would basically run the company. The three were supposed to be Chris Rock, Chris Farley and Ben Stiller. (This was a while ago.) |
that would be great!
they should use Kevin James, ben stiller, and chris rock |
hell no! Ben stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Chris Rock
|

|
Chris Rock would blow chunks.
|
I'd go with Vince Vaughn and the Wilson brothers, personally. Having Luke and Owen play sibling ghostbusters might make for some good comedy. Of course, Vince would be Venkman's protege since they have such similar delivery.
|
LOL Farley as a Ghostbuster. Oh man I would of probably died from laughing so hard.
OK, EVERYBODY TO THE BACK OF THE FOOD COURT!!!!! Ghostbusters coming through. sees a ghost HOLY SNIKES!!!!! dives over a table to hide |

GHOSTBUSTERS RETURNS
Starring: Will Ferrell Vince Vaughn Owen Wilson and Dave Chapelle. God that would be awesome. |
Who's Dave Chappelle?
Anybody manage to track down this script yet or was it all talk? The script was definitely written, but I don't know if it was REALLY leaked online. |

I live in a hugely multi-cultural city, actually. And there are plenty of "minorities" on television in the UK. All I asked was who is Dave Chapelle?? Is he even on TV in the UK? |
I should have clarified... minorities in major roles, as stars or anything that doesn't perpetuate a stereotype.
|
rofl is this guy serious about Chappelle?

Anyway I just looked up Chappelle on Wikipedia. He hasn't appeared in much of anything that has been shown over here in the UK. Just coz we don't get his show doesn't mean we don't get ANY TV shows with black guys in them.
|

I only know Chapelle as the wanker out of Con-Air.

Get a grip AlphaBeans! Just making a point.
You know? Like you were? Except mine is right, based on experience and fact, living in the UK as I do. I'm not saying "oooooooooh look at ME! I'm with a BLACK GUY! I'm so FRESH!" or "An Indian Guy???? Can I be YOUR friend now please, mister??" Whatever... So.... Ghostbusters 3, yeah? No? yeah? No? |
AlphaBeans
|
Alphabeens.
In some circles here, a "beens" is a euphemism for a woman. A woman is a "beens", always plural, even if it's just one woman. So surely, AlphaBeens would be like the most womanly woman there is? |
OH SNAP.
|
Whoo hooo.
I know I'm bumping this after a long old time, but they've announced a Ghostbusters 3 (kind of) so it's relevant! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostbusters_3 |
All CGI? :(
|
Yeah, I have my doubts about all CGI.
|
I still have my doubts it will even happen. It's been on and off for years.
But I'm just happy that there's still a chance, because Aykroyd categorically killed it off less than 6 months ago, and now he's back saying that it's still being planned. |
|
This is the one movie I've wanted all my life and know I'll never see. It's the movie they'll have for me on dvd if I get to heaven.
Of all the great franchises, its the one that hasn't bee properly continued and concluded, for better or for worse. It's potential was great. Should have been a trilogy, yet despite how close they got to making it, it just never happened. If they made a new generation, I'd see it...but it wouldn't be the same. What irks me about the Ghostbusters franchise is mostly Columbia's stance towards it. Okay, so the 3rd movie isn't getting made, but why is it treated like old news. Sadly I think Ghostbusters is being forgotten and in many cases underrated. Its as if they don't see it as being profitable. We don't even get special edition DVDs for these damn movies. As for the Ghostbusters 3 script, I wish they'd release it. I read a legitimate excerpt from it in a magazine a while back, but it was only a summary of one scene. I don't know where I'd find it online now, but it was from a legitimate source. Ghostbusters 3 has this mystique about it as the best project that never got off the ground. It's the sequel that never happened, and for that it's unique. Plus I want this hat: http://www.charmandising.com/images/...CT/GHO0602.jpg |
All CG? please no. Seriously, they could probably make more money by remastering, and going in with CG tools and deleted footage and making a special edition for re-release in theaters.

seems like he would be up to voice the character in a CGI movie though... I wouldnt mind a CGI movie...its ghostbusters, and if you have the characters look like the real guys with the real voices I think it can work nicely...and if its good and successful, they can do a couple... |

On the other hand, effects budgets for 2007 TV shows are able to pull off better stuff than 1999 blockbusters did, so perhaps just re-evaluating the budget would do the same. |

However, I'll take Ghostbusters in any format. I liked the cartoon, I liked X-Treme, and I'll probably like the new one. Hell, I'd settle for another Evolution. I'd also like to see new Ghostbusters or something. |
The latest on GB3: rumour has it that the original four actors are on board in some capacity for a sequel starring Steve Carrell, Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd as the next generation of active Ghostbusters.
Not sure how I feel about this. |
|
Fucking Steve Carrell has to ruin one of my only dream movies...
|
At least with those guys on board, all of whom could be considered big names in the movie business thanks to their recent success, this movie looks set to FINALLY be made... (Still don't hold your breath, though).
My main worry is that the Carrell, Rogan, Frat Pack crew will turn out to be flashes in the pan, and taint the GB legacy down the line. Imagine if this had happened a decade ago, there would be a Ghostbusters 3 DVD gathering dust on my shelf starring Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider and Allan Covert (probably featuring a cameo from Seann William Scott) |
"However, the original cast members, including Murray, have all lent their voices to the forthcoming Ghostbusters: The Video Game, due for release this autumn. "
That seems to be the only bit of evidence out of that article, so... |
Here's the original Dread Central story. Should have linked this to begin with really.
http://www.dreadcentral.com/story/ex...-than-we-think |
Between this, Robert Llewellyn's recent hints that some new Red Dwarf this way comes and the Lightning Seeds set to release their first new album in 10 years means that three looooooooong waits that have bothered me for years all look set to be coming to an end.
|
I hope this doesnt happen. I like Carrell, Rudd and Co. but this just seems like a bad idea.

Linkage??? |

Watch the vid... it's a little vague, but then hints tend to be... could be nothing, but this is from the OFFICIAL RD website, they seem to know what's going on, and they're not doing much to alleviate speculation about new upcoming Red Dwarf projects (be it the long awaited movie, or a new series)... |
Text from TOS:
Robert Llewellyn: "We're going to have a jolly good time catching up on all the daft stories behind the scenes on Red Dwarf... and all the prospects for more Red Dwarf. [Winks] Aaah, yes indeed - news just through. But I won't tell you till I'm there." Whatonearthcanhepossiblybe-referringtocoulditreallybeas-excitingasitseemsithinkimgoing-toexplode?!?!?!? Thing is, we can't yet tell you what he's referring to. We'd love to, we're aching to, and it's been on the cards since the website relaunch but... nope, you're just going to have to wait a little while longer. It'll be worth it. Promise. |
Back to GB3 though, if they really are going to turn to the Frat Pack dudes to relaunch the franchise, they should really look to the originals rather than the newbies.... it's already been said in this thread that Vince Vaughn would make a good Venkman substitute, Owen Wilson as a bewildered, chilled out Ghostbuster could work and Ben Stiller's name has been linked to this project for a decade (although I personally wouldn't want to see him in it).
As for Will Ferrell, he's so hit and miss, but when he is funny, he's very funny. If he was "on", then Ferrell the Ghostbuster could be amazing. |
I don't care who they put in a new movie, I just want to see a third Ghostbusters flick. Make it happen.
|
Read a report that Paul Rudd denied these latest rumours, but said he would love to do it if he were asked.
|
Quote:
That is far more interesting than Ghostbusters. |
Well, either could be really really good, or really really bad.
New Red Dwarf scares me. |
Quote:
Would Craig Charles be able to get the time off from Corrie though? |
I would think so. The actual cast filming itself for a movie would be just a few weeks, I expect. A new series would take longer. but still perhaps 10 weeks max.
Main problem is aging. Have you seen Chris Barrie's hair lately?? How can he be Rimmer without the curly side parting?? The man is virtually bald! |
I thought this thread was supposed to be about Ghostbusters.
|
It's what is known in the trade as a tangent.
|
I'm against the "remake" or recast idea that has circulated for ages. It originally started with rumors of Chris Farley and Will Smith joining Aykroyd and Ramis on the team.
Then rumors of Vince Vaughn, Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell, which I would be highly against. The most recent rumor is with the Apatow crew, which although I wouldn't be for, it would likely be the best possibility. I think it was Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill and Jason Segel suggested. |
I'd be happy with a recast rather than a remake. The original Ghostbusters are older now and it would be unrealistic to expect those four to still be busting ghosts at their age... they were already finding it a struggle by the second movie, and that was 20 yrs ago. Whilst I wouldn't be happy with a new Ghostbusters where they weren't in it at all, I think a new group of busters with the original crew as advisors and getting their hands dirty one more time in the final showdown would be fine (and with Ramis and Aykroyd at the helm of writing/directing if Reitman won't do it).
Definitely against a remake. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The original is perfect. |
well a re-cast sequel would be a better bet than a remake for sure. You get to have it be a continuation, and appease fans and still get all the pros of a reboot.
With a new cast and the brand name of Ghostbusters you'd make the same money. You'd also get people who are turned off by a remake to turn out. It would provide a new story and situations to insert comedy into, and with a new quartet of comedians in the ghostbusting role, along with cameos/roles from the original cast, it would be a torch passing |

This is the most promising news since the 90s. Looks like it very well might happen after all. |
Overload.....
Pleasure Overload! |
Well, what do Ramis and Aykroyd think about this? Not only did they write the first two, but they also wrote a third script too. Did they personally choose to get new writers on board for a fresh approach or have the studio taken it upon themselves to commission this new script simply believing Aykroyd and co. will be so happy to make a third film that they will relinquish all creative influence over it??
|
If they do the "Hell on Earth" storyline I'll be happy, but it does sound kind of odd to not have Ramis and Aykroyd write it.
|
I mean, kudos to them if they just figured that in trying to update an 80s classic, they may need more modern voices on board to make the film relevant to todays audiences. How many times have you seen an old film get a new installment years and years later that was nothing more than a failed attempt to hark back to an era which no longer exists?
The first two Ghostbusters films are classics, but are Ramis and Aykroyd capable of recreating that atmosphere in 2008 without the whole thing feeling forced and dated? I guess having a couple of modern day writers on board can't hurt, as long as it's in unison with Harold and Dan, not instead of them. I heard the Ghostbusters in Hell script which never came to fruition wasn't that great - the concept was good but the execution poor. Perhaps they can take the same story, but have the new writers flesh out the characters and eliminate some of the flaws.... I don't know, all speculation I guess. I'm really happy that it seems we are finally getting that third Ghostbusters installment but the shine will certainly wear off if none of the original cast or writers are involved. The rumours say Ivan Reitman is attached, though. |

Exactly. I have been expecting this movie since I was in high school and they started talking about that "Ghostbusters in Hell" script that never happened.

Amen to the last two post . And I have recently became big fan of the office so I like their humor style and with them writing the script ,I dont have any worries.

I'd be happy with Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Kiefer Sutherland and Angelina Jolie. It's 2009, you gotta have the token chick. There's usually a token black guy, of course, but it's 2009, so New York will have a black mayor instead.
Probably played by Morgan Freeman. |
lol

damn. Will Ferrell is one of my favorite actors, and I would bust a nut laughing at him if he got slimed...
I was orignially going to say that Ferrell shouldn't be in the movie, but he should now that I think about it. He should be the Igon wanna be! He's faking like he's a genius, and is dumb as a box of rocks! He could pull it off! |
