Best Wrestlemania main event ever?

What is the best Wrestlemania main event ever?

The One 03-19-2006 11:08 PM

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock

uhhhh....let's go with Mania X-Seven.

McLegend 03-19-2006 11:10 PM

WM 3 Hogan/Andre

Can't really disargee with Austin/Rock though

Skippord 03-19-2006 11:15 PM

Benoit V }{}{}{ V HBK

Indifferent Clox 03-19-2006 11:21 PM

muahahah Messing with the system

The One 03-19-2006 11:22 PM

Shocked no one has said the Iron Man match...since that is considered by a lot of poeple around here to be the best match ever. :shifty:

Do I use :shifty: too much? :shifty:

Jordan 03-19-2006 11:24 PM

My top five...

5. Triple H v.s Batista
4. Bret Hart v.s Shawn Michaels
3. Hogan v.s Warrior
2. HBK v.s HHH v.s Benoit
1. Steve Austin v.s The Rock WM 17

HeartBreakMan2k 03-19-2006 11:32 PM

Shawn and Bret. Brock and Angle would have been it, great match but the botched spot kind of took away from the best ever aspect.

Corndad 03-19-2006 11:55 PM

gotta go with LT/Bam Bam... kidding. Seriously.

Wrestling Wise- Probably Iron Man Bret v Shawn.

Hype wise - Rock/Austin at 17.

Historical wise - Hogan v Andre

D Mac 03-20-2006 12:29 AM

Hogan/Justice :shifty:

Joey Slugs 03-20-2006 02:01 AM

Hogan/Andre.

Serious guys, everything else falls to a VERY distant second. This is not even close. Could Austin, HBK, Rock, HHH, Hart, & Benoit combined ever draw over 92,000 people in one place at one time?

WWF has never had a show that successful since. I doubt they ever will.

Skippord 03-20-2006 02:03 AM

There were only 78,000 people

Destor 03-20-2006 02:05 AM

That's very debatable, Skip. To lazy to debate though, so you win by forfeit.

The One 03-20-2006 02:05 AM

Do you mean just shy of 78,000...if your still buying that 92,000 were there then I would encourage you to look in the dictionary because the word gullible isn't in there.

Destor 03-20-2006 02:06 AM

Below 78,000

Destor 03-20-2006 02:07 AM

But still debatable either way, up or down.

What Would Kevin Do? 03-20-2006 02:09 AM

Bret/Shawn.

The One 03-20-2006 02:09 AM

And based on the fact that Hogan and Andre sold 78,000...then we could compare that Rock/Austin from Mania X-Seven sold 67,900+ in under an hour. Given more seats and possibly an extra half hour, I would image that Rock/Austin could indeed out sell Hogan/Andre.

And I think there was another Mania (possibly X-8) that outsold X-Seven, but I have no clue what the tickets sold were or the time they were on the market, so I passed over it.

I don't see why you would base your opinion on the best WrestleMania main event on the gate numbers. What do they have to do with each other?

WrestleMania X-7 is by far an overall better wrestling show than WrestleMania III. The drawing of fans doesn't dictate which show was superior; it's the quality. The same goes for the main events.

HBK vs. Benoit vs. HHH. It was the crowning moment for every long-time wrestling fan, and the crowning moment for Benoit.

There are two types of fans. Those who focus on money, and those who focus on what they like. One of those is called marks. Which one is it?

The One 03-20-2006 03:35 AM

I focus on both the ratings/money as well as what I like. What does that make me?

The One 03-20-2006 03:36 AM

Oh and throw in that I have a larger then needed knowledge of results and title histories. Does that make me like a Smart-Smark-Mark?

Fox 03-20-2006 03:38 AM

Triple Smark.

It'd make you a smark if you weren't formerly in the buisines. But seeing as you were you're just a smart. You should know that.

The One 03-20-2006 03:43 AM

Ah, but I am a Smart, with mark qualities. Actually suprisingly, some of the biggest marks...are smarts.

Destor 03-20-2006 03:46 AM

Yeah, once you are a smart though yet the liberty to have a double standard. :shifty:

The One 03-20-2006 03:48 AM

Oh and technically, if we're going with terms here, a wrestler or former wrestler is a worker...

So

The One = Smarky-Marky-Smart The Worker.

Rammsteinmad 03-20-2006 04:10 AM

Triple H VS Chris Benoit VS Shawn Michaels

Wrestlemania 20.

:?: You have blown my mind. I cannot comprehend your existance. Thus I am now of the opinion you do not exist.

Bad Company 03-20-2006 04:52 AM

Shawn Michaels v.s Stone Cold Steve Austin

chipoftheoldblock 03-20-2006 04:57 AM

Wrestlemania XX main event is my favorite one cause I truly never believed it would ed up in that fashion.

Dave Youell 03-20-2006 05:28 AM

Summerslam in Wembley Stadium was the biggest drawing crowd in the WWF's history.

Dave/UK Wins!

Oh and how many more times people, Bret/HBK wasn't THAT good, if you took out the 20 minutes of sleeper holds and they just had a 40 minute match it would of been ALOT better

McLegend 03-20-2006 08:03 AM

Build up damn you

Blue Demon 03-20-2006 04:13 PM

I went with the WM XX main event...it's just an awsome match.

Vermaat 03-20-2006 04:18 PM

Stone Cold Steve Austin v.s The Rock

htis main event has not been topped.

FakeLaser 03-20-2006 04:28 PM

Iron Man

Just realized how weak the WM main events have been for the most part. Probably because 8 of them were headlined by Hogan.

redoneja 03-20-2006 04:33 PM

I'm torn between Austin/Rock @ WM X7 and Angle/Lesnar @ WM 19

ddpBANG 03-20-2006 09:55 PM

If Brock would've hit the shooting star on Angle, people would still be talking about it. Maybe I'm biased because I was there, though. That's probably second on my list just under HHH/Benoit/HBK and just in front of Rock/Austin from X-7

Loose Cannon 03-20-2006 10:08 PM

Hogan/Warrior

zdmay 03-20-2006 10:24 PM

Shawn Michaels v.s Stone Cold Steve Austin

Start of the Attitude Era, which led to Vince McMahon's, "No chance in hell", which he still uses.
