It was definitely a hazing, although probably not the type of hazing done by JBL (i.e. the kind that makes you want to quit the company). I guess this is the RAW way of hazing.

It's being called weak because the concept of getting hazed generally doesn't include the guy involved experiencing something that occurs in-ring, as part of the professional life.

A lot of the hazing tales that come out of WWE are horrendous, and this is pretty innocuous. Do chops hurt? You're fucking right. Is it something that that experience in-ring? You bet your sweet ass it is. Is it part of the actual job? Check again.

Is it, therefore, anything specifically potent in terms of "hazing?"

Fuck no.

Is it especially degrading, particularly painful (More than the act would be in the ring), and so on?

Once again, all signs point to fuck no.
