Madden 07

Yeesh, and I wasn't even done with 06. This year flew by fast.

Shawn Alexander graces the cover this year, so there is no way I'm putting him on my fantasy team. There will be picture of the rookies tomorrow in their uniforms once the draft gets underway.

D Mac 04-29-2006 04:33 AM

Isn't there a "Madden Curse" or something where something always happens to the player that gets on the Madden cover?

CNM 04-29-2006 04:41 AM

Yeah, hence why Roxer doesn't want Shaun Alexander in fantasy

RP 04-29-2006 05:01 AM

Why hasnt Peyton Manning , Tom Brady or Bob Sanders been on the cover of Madden yet?

I don't remember who came before but last year was Donovan McNabb, and the year before was Ray Lewis.

So yeah you could definitely argue there's something weird going on there. Dunno, maybe some guy will come through the hole Hutchison would've been filling and take out Alexander's ACL :$

Bubby Brister?

RoXer 04-30-2006 09:16 PM

All I want out of this game is the following:

- Improved sound. Mostly crowd noise and crowd chants. NCAA had the atmosphere down. They need to do something like that. Shit like Broncos yelling INCOMPLETE and even the Eagles song after they score TDs would be killer. Maybe a few new QB voices or overall player sounds. I'm pretty confident that the EA Trax will still delever though.

- Improved graphics. 06 was a step down from 05. They need to get player models and maybe even fan models down. More Options for create-a-fan would be pretty good too. The coaches look a bit too generic, so maybe fix that. Stadiums always look appropriate for the most part.

- TAKE OUT SUPERSTAR MODE. It is just a big waste of space.

- New plays. They've always been good at improving that sort of thing, so I'm not too worried.

- New Cards stadium. It SHOULD be in there, but the early pictures have me worrying about it.

- DL uniform updates. Okay, this was availible in ESPN NBA 2K4, I don't see why EA can't do it. They put the Mavericks' gold jersey in it after the begining of the season, added different throwbacks, and fixed other uniform stuff. I don't see why this can't be in Madden. I was getting tired of seeing Seattle's home jersey in white pants when they never wore that ever.

- Create-a-team online. WISHFUL THINKING, but man that would be sick. Like we would all create our teams and stadiums and maybe even create a league and have our own drafts. But I dunno if there is a way to do that online.

Nervous Ferret 04-30-2006 09:27 PM

yesssss

RoXer 04-30-2006 10:01 PM

Will they be using the ESPN liscence since Madden works for NBC?

road doggy dogg 05-01-2006 02:33 AM

Reading the interview on IGN, I'm fucking pumped about getting it on Wii when it comes out.

For example;

Quote:

When you first play it, it's completely different. When you go to hike the ball, for instance, as opposed to pressing a button you simply jerk the controller up. Boom, you snap the ball. When you want to pass the ball, you gesture a throwing motion while holding the button down to the intended receiver. When you want to stiff-arm left or right, you juke with the nunchuck controller literally. When you want to kick, you gesture the kick motion.
That sounds like it'd take some getting used to, but it sounds hottttttttt.

Also, I too hope they remove the Superstar thing from the game, lol. I didn't buy 06 but my sister's bf did and it seemed like a huge waste of time/space. That and it didn't really have any improvements over 05...

Triple A 05-01-2006 02:56 AM

Yeah an overall better atmosphere for the game would be better. Also like better presentation, more creative stuff or something. I dunno. ESPN 2k football had a good presentation.

The sound thing definitely. It is mad shitty. Like the game doesn't feel realistic or something too. Like when I play NBA 2k6 it feels mad realistic.

Mr. Monday Morning 05-01-2006 06:47 AM

I can't imagine the number of Wii controllers that are going to go flying into TVs/walls/out the window when trying to throw a deep bomb.

Team Sheep 05-01-2006 12:25 PM

In 06, when you score a touchdown at home the place is dead. So yeah, sound improvement would do it for me.

Yeah like the game recaps and shit like that would be great. The presentation just makes the games you play seem that much more meaningful.

Even in the Super Bowl there is pretty much no build up in Madden. They just need to make it look more like a TV presentation. The actual game play is amazing so there is pretty much no change needed. Just the little things would make this game the best game ever. Also the crowd does indeed need to be louder.

RoXer 05-14-2006 04:18 PM

Pretty delicious preview here: http://www.g4tv.com/e32006/features/...7_Preview.html

Doesn't really have the atmosphere I was hoping (at least from what was shown.) I dunno, superstar mode looks promising but could be a huge let down.

E3 2006: EA/ESPN Integration Update
ESPN news, radio, and the ticker.
by IGN Staff
May 11, 2006 - Behind closed doors at the EA booth, representatives are giving demonstrations on what to expect from the ESPN integration in NCAA Football 07 and NBA Live 07 on the Xbox 360.

We've already gone into detail about how NCAA Football will feature an ESPN news ticker at the bottom of the screen that you can switch between scores from real life and updates from your franchise, including everything from scores to updates on the Top 25, Heisman rankings, and more.

What we hadn't seen before is the new integration to be featured in NBA Live 07. ESPN Radio plays in the background, you have the ticker at the bottom of the screen, and you also have 40 of the top sports stories of the day, similar to what you'd find on ESPN.com. Click on the story to read all about the Spurs victory, complete with a picture from the game, then go into the your game and see if you can lead the Spurs to a title of your own.

I was told NBA Live will have even more ESPN integration that EA is not ready to talk about at this time, but all signs point to the hoops title as the game that will take the relationship to the next level.

In other words, no plans for ESPN in Madden this year. Makes sense.

D Mac 05-26-2006 02:51 PM

I wonder if you had the PS3 version you could still play against PS2 players online.

RoXer 05-26-2006 03:09 PM

Probly not.

But fuck this, NCAA looks like it will be hot as SHIT http://ps2.ign.com/articles/702/702314p1.html

<font color=goldenrod>Bumping this because some player ratings have been confirmed:

Running Backs:

LaDanian Tomlinson 97
Edgerrin James 96
Larry Johnson 95
Tiki Barber 95
Clinton Portis 94
Warrick Dunn 92
Rudi Johnson 92
Brian Westbrook 91
Reggie Bush 87

Steve Smith 97
Marvin Harrison 97
Terrell Owens 97
Hines Ward 94
Larry Fitzgerald 93
Santana Moss 92
Reggie Wayne 92
Plaxico Burress 90

Linebackers:

Brian Urlacher 98
Ray Lewis 98
Derrick Brooks 97
Joey Porter 97
Zach Thomas 96
Shaun Merriman 92
Jonathon Vilma 92
Ian Gold 91
LaVar Arrington 90
DeMarcua Ware 86
Antonio Pierce 85

Quarterbacks:

Peyton Manning 99
Tom Brady 98
Carson Palmer 95
Donovan McNabb 94

Michael Vick 91 (accuracy 79, speed 93)
Eli Manning 88
Brett Favre 88
Steve McNair 87
Aaron Brooks 84
Matt Leinart 82
Vince Young 82 (almost as fast as Vick in game)

-------

I gotta say, I think they definately raped Antonio Pierce in this game. He was an 85 in '06, had an AWESOME year, and doesn't improve at all? He should easily be a 90. Oh well, at least LBs are easy to improve in training camp

Also, damn it'd be fun playing as the Saints in this game. If Bush is only a rookie and got an 87, imagine how sick Deuce must be</font>

Audioslave Go Xbox Live
Band gets Artist of the Month nod, plus open themselves up to challenge from gaming fans.
by IGN Music
August 3, 2006 - August is Audioslave Month. At least on Xbox Live, where the band have been chosen "Artist of the Month."

Throughout the month of August fans will be able to download Audioslave's "Original Fire" music video as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the band both at work and at play.

Additionally, gamers can sign up for a chance to actually go head-to-head with members of the band in a Madden NFL 07 online challenge. The Madden/Audioslave connection is due to the fact that the title track to their new album, Revelations, is featured in the game.

All those who are interested in gaming against Audioslave should log onto www.audioslavemusic.com/xboxgamewithfame/ or www.xbox.com/artist and need to sign up by August 31st, 2006.

D Mac 08-14-2006 03:58 AM

Question: Why the fuck do they have that Radio Announcer commentary? That shit sucks. I like my full TV presentation on my sports games.

Triple A 08-22-2006 05:12 AM

Got that shit 2nite at midnight for 360. It is pretty good, but I gotta get used to some of the new things. Choosing plays while playing against another human player sucks because you can both see each other's plays, which is fucking stupid. They def should have done that better as it kinda ruins a big part of the game.

The 360 commentating sucks. It is just some generic guy.

They got rid of vision cone (at least on 360, dunno about other systems), which is great as there is absolutely no use for it on a widescreen tv. Also I never liked it anyway.

I have only played one game so far so it's gonna take some getting used to, but it's not bad from what I've seen besides the things I mentioned.

D Mac 08-22-2006 07:05 AM

You got Xbox live Trips? I'm getting it too for 360 so if so I'll take you on.

Yeah the NFL 2K series was a solid alternative.

The Greater Power 08-22-2006 05:52 PM

Just got Madden 2007 for my PS2.

The PS2 versioin HAS Madden and Al Michaels doing commentary so thats a plus. The graphics are the exact same as the previous Madden for PS2 but there are a bunch more animations as far as getting tackled is concerned.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the PS2 version.

On play.com it says the PS2 version features online play, but then I went over to game.co.uk and it says nothing about online. Also by looking at the box art there is no 'Net Play' logo on there. So I dunno. :-\ Probably go into town later and have a look.

pretty sick. It is basically the same as last years but still awesome

RoXer 08-26-2006 02:16 PM

ANy of that "improved atmosphere"?

Nervous Ferret 08-26-2006 02:20 PM

nah not really. Playing as D Brickashaw on an HB SWEEP is pretty hot though

The atmosphere is still horrible as usual, as is the presentation. Especially on 360 with the horrible announcer.

It doesn't feel like you are playing a "real game" at all. Also the crowd reactions are awful and always completely off. Like if you win a coach's challenge or something, the crowd cheers like 10 seconds later. I bet sometimes it doesn't even cheer.

I don't knwo if it was like this in last year's (due to not playing it), but the whole "holding circle then using the dpad" to select defensive players prior to the snap is so hot. I love the game already
