Why did they never make it big?
This is for all the people who you thought were going to be huge, but somehow wern't. I always thought D'Lo Brown had a certain look, and ring style that was fun to watch. I am seriously shocked he never became more then he did. Name some other guys who you think could have been bigger.
|
Ironically I was thinking about D'lo in that light. Whatever happened to him?
|
He wrestles in Japan now...
|
And even there...he doesn't get the respect he deserves.
|
One word as to why D'Lo Brown didn't make it as big as he should of: Droz.
|
That wasn't D'Lo fault.
|
I miss D'Lo :(

But also, why did he not get over with the crowd in a bigger way? He never got real big pops or anything...what was it about him that people didn't get behind I wonder...
|
I also liked D'Lo and was going to pick him but now i'll say Christian. Why the fuck did WWE just ignore the potential this guy has?He could do everything that was needed to be a main eventer and he's now proving that in TNA.
(damn this stupid site for not letting me post this 5 mins ago) |

Yeah, I have to agree with you One, after Triple H was finally getting ready to win his first title, I thorught for sure that either him or Ken Shamrock would of been World Champion, but never happened

Kanyon back in 2003. He was some of the best matches of his career... on WWE VELOCITY. He just returned from almost dying, got back in shape and came back better than ever. He was having good matches with local indy guys, fantastic matches with the likes of Rey Mysterio, Sean O'Haire, Paul London, Matt Hardy, insert other Velocity guys here.
WWE's creative department never had any ideas for him and he never left Velocity until he was released. |
WHO GAYER THEN KANYON?!
You're right though, it's a damn shame he went from Mr. MVP to Mr. Homo. |

EDIT: I am a retard...thanks for your time.

I wish the WWE had used DDP well before he became crippled i thought he was hilarious on the Mic and was hardly poor in-ring either
*waits to be slaughtered for this view* Also did DDP ever recover fully from his injury and if so has he retired? |
Raven was so underused in WWE it was completely pathetic.
There was no legit reason not to take him and work him into a main even scene. |
Raven and DDP were both huge stars. This isn't why didn't the company use them better, this is why did they never make it big? Why didn't the fans get behind them...
|
Hassan :( But of course, wasn't his fault.
William Regal. He was on top of the world in 2001, was the comissioner, and afterward he was having a great angle going with Austin. I seriously thought he would win the Championship back then. |
How did I not think of Regal before now...you are 100% correct! I thought Regal could go down as one of the all time best heels, but then he just kinda stuck around upper-midcard, then when down to lower-midcard, losing fans and anti-fans all the while...then all but disappeared. :(
|
The shame about it is that I'm not really sure if Regal would be accepted as a champion in this day of wrestling. It would have been ideal for him back then, but after lousing around Heat and Velocity for years, they'd have to work a miracle to get him over. Can't really see him topping his amazing story with a title win to be honest. :(
|
The Mulkeys.
Mulk-A-Mania :( |
Yeah, William Regal definitely deserves to be mentioned.

Yeah Regal could have been anything.
Steven Richards is another one. Maybe he could never have been a maineventer but he could have been a soild upper midcarder. He has way more talent than to be just a jobber on heat. Rob Conway I thought was a great talent but the crowd never got behind him. He was great in the ring, good on the mic and he looked the part but he just never connected with the crowd during his push mid last year. Maven is another who had enough charisma to make something of himself. |
I disagree. While I never saw anything wrong with Maven's abilities or even his mic skills, he just didn't seem to have that "it" factor that seems to be the barrier between mid-card and upper mid.
|
Owen Hart.
|
Yea, Regal and D'Lo are very good contenders. D'Lo, from what i remember, was actually getting good size pops when eurocontinental champion. But like someone mentioned, i think the Droz thing pretty much got him psychologically.
People got into Owen Hart when he was a face before the Bret feud and when he fueded with Triple H. But other than those two, i can't really think of others. |
Owen was a brilliantly charismatic heel. Even though injuries grounded his aerial moveset (remember, he was among the greatest high-flyers at one time), his mat skills made up for it.
Owen should've been world champ. Its a shame he was never given a run, especially when a strong case could've been made between 93'-96'. |
Matt Hardy, He has had so many things going for him but never made it, half of it is his blame for lack of mic skills atleast outside of being a heel, and the other being vince for fucking up the Edge/Hardy/Lita deal.
I beleive the WWE wanted his brother to be a big star, but Jeff of course, couldn't handle it |
Jeff Jarrett- Had SCSA not refused to put him over, Jarrett would've been a maineventer in the WWE. Yes, I'm serious.
Matt Hardy- v1.0 was super over with the fans. Its a shame Matt is continually buried, especially since he has so much potential. |

Oh stop looking at me like that. If Jeff was given the time off that he requested immediatlly following the Undertaker fued and allowed to rest and give his body a break, he could've been huge. Unfortunetly...well, we saw what happened. Poor Jeff. And Matt...hoooooo boy. Don't get me started on Matt. |
To a certain extent, Brian Pillman. Also Jerry Lynn, Perry Saturn (WWE fucked him up royally), Chavo, Vampiro (especially teaming with the Great Muta...but ICP fucked that up.), Rick Martel, Sean O'haire, Kronik, Blood Runs Cold faction.....and of course, Daffney.

...it pains me to say this, but I truely believe that the reason Billy Gunn didn't make it big was Triple H. I could pull out an entire Shadow Conspiracy Theory on it, but I will just leave it at the fact that in my estimation had Hunter not had the stroke he had, Gunn would be World Champion...I have no doubt of that.
|
The WWE did just mess Billy up after his KOTR win putting him in the reformed DX when he could have easily went against them and even when it looked like they were going to main event him by having him as the man who ran down SCSTA they just pulled out that and shoved the fat waste of space Rikishi into the main event. After these two key mistakes they made him The One Billy Gunn then put him with Chuck and killed his career
What a waste:| |
Even "The One" gimmick wasn't bad...:shifty:...they screwed him over by buring him. He was getting HUGE reactions. I have them on tape, seriously, his pops were incredible. His 2 week reign with the Intercontinental Championship wasn't great, but even there the fans still were behind him...then they dropped him down to HeAT for no reason, still getting solid reactions, Royal Rumble came along and he still had the crowd on his side despite being all but meaingless in the Rumble match, had him come in at No Way Out and win the Hardcore Title for 15 seconds, and then totally denied him a place on WrestleMania 17...and through all of this he still got huge pops. He was the king of jobbers, and the crowd still ate him up... :(
|
Lance Storm (the fans didn't care about him in WWE anyway, and the whole "boring" thing didn't help)
Regal D'lo Steve Blackman (I can see why, but hey, I've always liked him) Ken Shamrock Billy Gunn Justin Credible (yeah, I like him, wanna fight about it? Should have reformed the Impact Players during the Invasion instead of friggin' putting him in X-Factor which killed any form of popularity he could have had before the Invasion began) Test |

Maven, guy was awesome as a heel. I will still remember when he wanted to get in the Royal Rumble and he told anyone in the back to comeout, and both Kane and Stinkey did (Both injuryed like crazy) and he still lost. Hehe that was a funny day.
