Something about Raw as of late...
Honestly, IMO, I haven't seen a better few weeks of Raw since...2001 I'd say.
It seems like WWE actually have some creative juices flowing in them finally...and they are catering slightly more to the fans. I thought the whole Triple H vs. John Cena feud would suck, as well as the McMahons vs. HBK feud...but the whole tie in makes it all the more interesting. |
No goddamnit.
Whenever Raw has a few good segments everyone always says WWE is getting good again. STFU Raw has been the same for years producing good segments and good amount of crap. It's not getting better or its not getting worse. |
Chances are you may have just jinxed it PMF.

2004 I started to re-watch again, but I was never excited about it. Honestly, I've never really found myself to be like "I can't wait for the next Raw!" since 2001. |
I started to watch again this year but I can't get into it. Whats with the spirit squad? They suck. Edge = Good Heel , Spirit Squad = Get off my TV.
|
LOL at someone justifying Edge but bitching about the Spirit Squad.
|
I don't know what Raw you were watching but raw sucked last night. The only good part was the first match, the rest of the card looked to forced because the roster is so short.I guess you like Umaga&meaningless spirit squad matches then.Last weeks Raw wasnt that great either. In the last two weeks there's been so many times where i've thought 'that's why they need to re-join the rosters'.
|
Well, Maybe PMF is one of "those folks," who like the spirit sqaud.
You know, the same folks who like John Cena, Jeff Hardy, and Brokeback Mountain. |

If I wanted to shoot on The One, I woulda <s>asked JBL to introduce us</s> said something about Billy Gunn.
Besides, Brokeback was such a chick flick. He strikes me more as th "Macho Man" type. ...Literally, a sin the village people. I think he's the cop. |
I don't mind the spirit squad personally, but there's just no decent competition for them. And their tag match with Snitsky/Goldust was the worst tag match in a long time.Only thing that was interesting was the way it finished.

He has put on some seriously good matches in his wwe/f career. The spirit squad however has done nothing except ruin good matches. I could do better stunts on a trampolene and them main eventing is a fucking joke. They're playing the part of cheerleaders yet they cant even synchronise 4 sentences. The fact that they are even in WWE with so little talent just shows that anyone can wrestle. And anyone who is a fan of spirit squad must obviously be under 12 years of age. Benoit and Regal are on Velocity, Fucking Velocity. Yet Shitty Squad main events Raw. And before I get told that shitty squad is unoriginal did Vince think that the idea of the spirit squad was original? |
I'm going to drink a gallon of bleach after I say this just so no one can hold it aginst me....
I marked out to the SPIRT SQUAD when I watched Raw... |

Fuck's sake. Much as I dislike the Spirit Squad, I'll sit through one of their matches before I'll sit through one of Edge's. When they're both done making me want to change the channel by being unentertaining, at least the SS can put on decent matches. Should they be elevated to ME status? No. But neither should the guy who couldn't get a face reaction as a face, couldn't get heel heat as a heel, and managed to get boring chants on more than one occasion. Especially when Edge's moves are poorly enough done he makes me wish Goldberg would come in to show him how to actually spear someone. Goldberg was bland, sloppy, and dangerous, he HE'S preferable to Edge. Who else that I hate can I give props to while trashing Edge? Masters? No...Not willing to stoop that low. Edge has minmal charisma, but he's got some. Boogeyman? No, he's SUPPOSED to be shitty...The Jews? No...They don't run wrestling. |

I'm liking it right now. There is a few things I would change but it seems they are slowly getting better.

Watching Raw for a couple of weeks made me conclude why smackdown is a second rate show.
Edge is no doubt awesome he can wrestle, uses the mic in his own special care free manner and man his cutting edge is really cool. HHH is finally being appreciated like never before and he deserves every fucking ounce of it. Cena....he is still the champ and the Face all thanks to the franchise buisness and those stupid college girls who go yabadaba dooo... while seeing him HBK is cooler than ever his ongoing feud with the McMahon's is Cool no doubt raw ratings are flying high baby |
Quote:
Too bad ratings aren't flying high. Too bad the only thing you can really say about Raw's ratings is that (Compared to the shows prior), the ratings are sucking less than Smackdown's. ...Fuckjerk. |
RAW was good last night, but it still had crap. I mean when Golddust and Snitsky are the top contenders for the tag titles, you know something is wrong. Foley and Funk had a great promo, and showed genuine emotion in it. Gotta love Foley's comment about Funk not appearing at the ceremony in 2003.
They better not fuck this up, but Carlito has a ridiculous amount of potential as a face. |
"Do you spit or swallow?"
"You mean apples?" That shit's straight out of Porky's. |
Quote:
Edge doesn't use the mic in a 'care free manner' at all.He seems like he's trying too hard to be this stupid 'angry all the time' character of his.He used to be much better on the mic/backstage before his injury. HHH is the only thing really worth watching on Raw. Cena being champ still is a bad thing. How long is this feud between Hbk/Mcmahon going to go on for? It's all getting too forced now, which in the long run is a bad thing.I don't give a shit about HBK facing the spirit squad, i don't even know what happened in the main event because i turned the TV off just before it.I did the same last week to. |
Finlay vs. Benoit for Judgment Day
I know this has nothing to do with the post I am replying to but I dont have the topic button again so I cant post a new topic. Finlay vs. Chris Benoit has been added to the Judgment Day card which would normally excite me but I have a bad feeling the WWE will screw it up by having Shortstack debut and interfere.
|
Why don't you have a topic button???And weve already seen Finlay/Benoit, why does that qualify as a PPV match all of a sudden? They havent had any storylines, just one match....
|
I dont know why I dont have a topic button but it was only there one time and went away.
|
the only bad thing about the Spirit Squad is the gimmick. Ken Doane seems like he's going to be pushed to the moon. Of course you know that will be botched, but i mean, he's main evented Raw for the past month now. He's got talent, he's got charisma, and his mic skills are decent. Too bad he's being held down in a shitty 5 Person Gimmick. The rest of the guys in the SS are equally as talented, but Ken seems to have that drive. I think i'm going all Alienoid now, so i'll let it go at that.
|
The Spirit Squad are entertaining.
Umaga is.........channel changing worthy. |

Like SmackDown lately, RAW'S been giving us some good moments that make us actually GIVE a shit, but all in all, much work must be done.
|
o rly?
Personally, I've been watching less Raw every week, and have stopped watching smackdown completely since Eddie's death. I only watch the big 4 payperviews and wasn't even the least bit excited for Wrestlemania this year. I'm also not buying anymore wrestling video games. I'll probably stop watching Raw completely soon :( |

Ive still always liked Raw better and SmackDown needs to learn to use their talent like Chris Benoit more on their show.
|
CC- Smackdown is far better than Raw.You are the type that is just attracted to big name stars and because of that you immediately say Raw is the better show.Either that or you just get very easily entertained.Smackdown has just been unlucky with injuries/deaths.
|
Both RAW & SmackDown have sucked and haven't had much substance to them since the death of WCW. Of course, losing both The Rock & Stone Cold Steve Austin[two of the biggest draws] didn't help.......
I don't see wrestling getting much better until TNA becomes major competition or another fed becomes competition to them. Seems to bring out the best in WWE when they have a fed to run against. So until that happens, for all intents & purposes WWE programming is on cruise-control. |

I think the Spirit Squad is getting better every week. At first they were completely worth a channel change. Now they're actually keeping me hooked. I would love it if they became "hardcore." (I hate using that word). Just imagine them flying off the trampoline wrapped in barbed wire or something. They could be oozing blood then after a win they could do another cheer. I think they could work if they quit taking speed before every appearance.
As for Edge, yes, his angry all the time for no reason is getting old really fast, but he was entertaining as Champ. HHH proves again why he's so important to the show, he carries whomever is working with him. I just wish the McMahon's would stay out of major storylines. I do think Raw is getting slightly better, but it'll probably return to shit soon enough. Oh as for Smackdown, that show is absolutly terrible. I watched the entire 2 hours for the first time in years because I was on an airplane with nothing else to watch, and my god, I had so much trouble staying awake. I can't believe people defend smackdown claiming it to be better than Raw. It is not. |
I watch Raw and Smackdown every week anyway, regardless of how bad or good it looks.
But currently on Raw, I most get excited about seeing the Spirit Squad. Those guys rule. |
SmackDown! has the MNM vs. Brian Kendrick & Paul London feud. That is awesome, as are all things Melina-related. Keep them on SmackDown! and the show will be worth watching, in my opinion.
RAW is the show I dislike more. It just...bores me. The DX reunion is as boring and predictable as fuck. Even if they take a few creative strokes with it (the destruction of Triple H as the top heel, forcing him to go back to his renegade ways) I don't think this is going to be the ratings crop the WWE thinks it will be. Why is Umaga still around? The guy squashed Ric Flair in about 3:00 and if he were released no one would still give a damn. The guy has talent, but he doesn't have enough to be justified such a consistent time-wasting spot on the show. The Spirit Squad are fantastic, but they need to go somewhere with them. Ken Doane is going places, as will Johnny Jeter (down the line). I think The Squad needs to break-up, though. Kenny can go onto singles action whilst Mikey & Nicky feud with Johnny & Mitch. Yes, I have reasons for those particular teams. RAW seems to take a theme to build to, and it takes forever getting there. Right now, all the RAW seems focused on is DX and ECW. The journey is not as interesting as the destination in this case. Please move it along WWE. |

Honestly, I don't blame people for saying Raw is better. If for no other reason than the fact that Michaels, no matter how dumb the angle, has been at his best in recent history. HHH is entertaining again, and seemingly bustin his ass.

At least what I said was relevant to the topic and was semi-factual[although it was merely my opinion, not fact]. Seems like Mr. Knight needs a dictionary because fact and opinion do NOT mean the same thing. As far as opinions go, that what message boards are for. Everyone defends their views as if it were the right one, you're just the next in line, pal. :nono: :nono: |
