Tonight, the new breed will be unleashed. At 10/9 CT, ECW will make its debut on the Sci-Fi channel. As announced last night on RAW, Paul Heyman and Rob Van Dam will officially celebrate the rechristening of the WWE Championship as the new ECW World Heavyweight Championship, and everyone is invited.

What exactly the rechristening will entail is anyone’s guess. One thing is for sure though, RAW’s Edge, who is the No. 1 contender and will face RVD at Vengeance, along with Lita has accepted Paul Heyman’s invitation to appear at the world premiere. In addition, former WWE Champion John Cena has vowed to be there as well. After what Cena did last night on RAW, taking out three members of Team ECW with a steel chair, you can be sure Heyman will have the entire ECW locker room on watch.

What will happen when the most extreme form of wrestling returns to national television? What will John Cena and Edge have to say when Rob Van Dam is named the new ECW World Heavyweight Champion? History will be made tonight and the only way to see it is to tune in live to the Sci Fi channel tonight at 10/9 CT.

I know I'm doing this a little early, but I want the ECW thread. This is the first wrestling show I've been hyped about in a very long time, and this is a company which I have been dieing to see return for a long time now...so I'm taking the thread! :mad:

I got back into wrestling too late to really see ECW, so I never really got into it. However, I know this is going to be different, but I am excited to see it this time around, and hope it comes off well.

i still wish it was after the smackdown tapings, and someone had the sign with all the spoilers. that would be super-hot.

I am not reading the spoilers. Very rare for me to ignore spoilers and watch the taped show but I am this time. Putting the ECW theme on loop now too Xero.

Im not liking all this Cena and Edge or any other RAW "superstar" on the ECW show. Hopefully it is only to hype their ppv and that's it, after Vengeance I don't wanna see all these wrestlers jumping around from show to show.

I think it is only an hour long for now, but within a few months i'm sure it'll go to 2.

I think it is ok to have the series start with main WWE guys to get marks to watch, but eventually of course, they need to eventually become totally seperate with rare exceptions.

Ugh, I hope Sci-Fi doesn't edit the crowd chants. Alot of the fun in an ECW event is hearing the creative crowd chants.

I used to watch it on WGTW channel 48 Philly. I remember seeing 911 chokeslamming someone and just getting hooked from there.
