Creed wasn't that bad.

I just listened to some of thier songs I had stashed away and I wondered why they got so much negative shit said about them. They were a decent band IMO. People said they copied Pearl Jam but I still don't see it.

Skippord 07-16-2006 08:13 AM

Cause Scott Stapp thinks hes Jesus.

Blitz 07-16-2006 08:35 AM

The only thing I truly hated about Creed was Scott Fucking Stapp.

Pinnacle Charisma 07-16-2006 08:39 AM

Creed was that bad.

I didnt see the Pearl Jam comparsions ether

Exactly why Alter Bridge is the man

Rob 07-16-2006 09:49 AM

I like Stapp's voice but yeah he comes off like a prick. Still had good songs though.

Alter Bridge are awesome though.

Kane Knight 07-16-2006 10:47 AM

Creed sounded very much like Pearl Jam. To call them a rip off, though, is to ignore the way music works. Unless they were stealing songs from PJ. I don't know, I can't remember them writing anything that bad.
Anyway, Stapp's voice is good, but the songs themselves were shite.

Silent 07-16-2006 01:48 PM

I thought he sounded a lot like the guy from Pearl Jam. I don't mind a couple songs of theirs.

Remember if someone has stolen something from you then it's been stolen twice.

ct2k 07-16-2006 03:22 PM

To be fair Pearl Jam don't exactly have a trademark sound, beyond Eddie Vedder's vocals, their albums are all pretty different, the latest one being no exception

D Mac 07-16-2006 04:42 PM

The first song off of My Own Prison, Torn, is thier best.

The Greater Power 07-16-2006 06:35 PM

I always really liked "One"

They do have similar elements in their sound.

To be honest, you don't have to sound the same on every record to have a trademark sound. Queen did it. Compare any two albums that were more than one apart from each other, and you'll be hard pressed to find records that "sound the same." You still have a Queen sound. Take Pink Floyd. Their records were always evolving, but they really do have a trademark sound. Take the Beatles. Take AC/DC, even, a band not particularly known for a progressive nature.

Boomer 07-16-2006 09:08 PM

I'm just glad everyone here is seeming to say that Pearl Jam is a better band than Creed.

Thank you.

Zen v.W.o. 07-16-2006 10:39 PM

They didnt sound at all like PJ. If they did, you'd be insulting PJ.

Seriously, Stapp only sounded like Vedder because Stapp constantly used the tone of voice Eddie would only use sometimes, if that makes sense..like on the song "once". Stapp tried to use that gurgling, growling type of tone. It sounded pretty forced.

Not I. Of course I never really got into PJ.

KingofOldSchool 07-17-2006 10:37 AM

"Well I just heard...the news today. Seems my career...is gonna stiiiiink. With arms wide open..."

Yeah...so how much sales did Stapp's solo album make? I think there was more interest in his and Kid Rock's porn tape than for Stapp's solo CD.

I think Stapp should've released that instead, I mean it's not like it's going to harm his career or anything.

Kane Knight 07-17-2006 10:58 AM

Stapp had a solo record?

Skippord 07-17-2006 11:16 AM

Yeah it was called the Great Divide. I heard the song from it and hated it with a fiery passion.

Kane Knight 07-17-2006 12:27 PM

*cough*

Just John 07-17-2006 01:33 PM

I'm a big PJ fan, the only reason Creed pisses me off is when Stapp said "Eddie vedder wishes he could write a song as good as scott stapp" Or something like that.

But usually I like Creed and Scott Stapps voice. I like PJ better though.

Fignuts 07-18-2006 01:34 AM

Muse

El Fangel 07-18-2006 02:37 AM

I love Alter Bridge, Edge's theme is great.
and they have alot of other songs I like.

Creed, Imo was not that bad, I liked most of there songs
Bullets and Freedom Fighter probabily were my favs.

But they have some of the best slow dance songs ever.
My Sacrifice, One Last Breath, With Arms Wide Open, Higher.
Shit thinking about these songs brings back alot of memorys of dances I went to, and the fact that most girls like those songs, and if its a girl you like the fact that most are 5 minutes plus isn't bad either :)

And I didn't really mind Scotts voice, and I don't listen to much PJ so I can't voice an opinion on that.

At work we used his CDs as dust collectors.

I told people that if we ever had any treasure, that we'd hide it in behind the Scott Stapp CDs because no one ever looked there.

Skippord 07-20-2006 09:59 AM

I wanted to shoot him in the face after hearing that song from it.

D Mac 07-20-2006 03:28 PM

Whats This Life For was a good song too.

Vastardikai 07-23-2006 04:00 AM

I liked every Creed Song I liked because of Tremonti. I always thought he was holding back.

Then we get Altar Bridge and... he was DEFINITELY Holding Back.

Blitz 07-23-2006 04:02 AM

The only really good Creed song is What If.

MVP 07-23-2006 07:57 PM

Scott Stapp's voice makes me want to stick my head in an oven.

Well, I remember after going to the Kroq Weenie Roast in CA in 2000, a friend of mine that was backstage said that Scott Stapp was a complete total prick. He had an area sectioned off that not even other musicians were allowed access too. The whole "Creed is better than you and I write better songs than Jesus Christ" attitude. Fuck that guy. I liked their first album, but as soon as they got radio success they just cookie cut every goddamn song to sound the same IMO. Pretty much like Staind.

Skippord 07-29-2006 02:05 AM

I like Staind :'(

Kane Knight 07-29-2006 09:32 PM

Staind are shite, but the guiarist is actually mad talented. He can do things most people need pedals for.

Skippord 07-29-2006 10:24 PM

Oh and by I like Staind I meant I like "Paper Jesus" and "King Of All Excuses"

D Mac 07-30-2006 02:28 PM

What?

Staind isn't that bad.

weather vane 07-30-2006 02:58 PM

I don't HATE Creed. They are kinda brtl tho.
