The Official TNA Impact thread.
Yeah the release date is just "2007" right now. But here's the latest news.
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...ml?sid=6152439 Last November, Midway announced that it was stepping into the ring with the up-and-coming federation TNA Wrestling and going after THQ's undisputed US wrestling game championship. But instead of the wild, chair-throwing, body-slamming, pull-apart brawl that usually follows such a revelation in the world of pro wrestling, there's been very little movement on TNA iMPACT! (working title) since. However, grappling gamers looking forward to the title will be pleased to learn that development on the game "geared up in a major way" last week, according to a news post on the official site of TNA Wrestling. According to the federation, Midway is set to brainstorm ideas for the game with Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, a pair of stars from the company's high-flying, hard-hitting "X-Division." According to TNA, both are hardcore gamers. The visual side of the game is also set to be defined soon, as Styles and Jeff Jarrett will be undergoing motion-capture sessions for the game at Midway's Los Angeles studio. Styles and Jarrett will be the first characters designed in the game, with "many more" to come. The news post also mentions that the game "will be available for all new generation systems including Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3." Midway's original announcement of the game also mentioned that it had the exclusive rights to publish PC and handheld games based on the federation as well. The game is currently being developed at Midway's LA studio, which worked on Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Before it was acquired by the publisher, it was known as Paradox Development, creators of the Backyard Wrestling series of games. |

Here, Samoa Joe demonstrates his new in-game finisher, unhinging his jaw to swallow Styles whole. ...Wait, wrong forum. |
I'm as excited about this game as I am for SvR2007, if not more.

TENAY: Joe and Styles have fought so many times that they know each other's every weakness! Look! AJ Styles has found the exact spot where Samoa Joe is most ticklish! WEST: THAT'S SO BIZARRE! |

TENAY: Joe and Styles have fought so many times that they know each other's every weakness! Look! Samoa Joe knows AJ Styles can be digested! |
So I wonder if Angle will be in the game?
Also, this one better have custom soundracks, because I will be having a WWE invasion of TNA with the real WWE themes.

JOE'S GONNA EAT YOU!
Gonna play as Chris Sabin a lot on this game
You know who I will take to the NWA World Title?
SHARKBOY! :shifty: |
I wonder if Season Mode consists of wining #1 Contender spots 80 times but never actually getting a shot at the belt. And Jeff Jarrett wins it anyway.
If Midway has a quarter of a brain they'd rip off all the good ideas of the SvR series and improve on the 'so-simple-how'd-they-miss-it' features. Saint's Row banked off that concept. Not the most noble practice in game development but in the end we don't complain.

I hope the game comes complete with create a Scott Stenier steroid rage shouting jibber jabber promo.

Mike Johnson reports that Midway Games were in Orlando on Monday and Tuesday scanning the crowd and the wrestlers for their upcoming TNA video game. The wrestlers backstage were shown some of the first game renders and were said to have been totally blown away. |

Who was the brilliant person from Midway who gave control of the game cover to Skippord? :shifty:
Thats probably fan made.
Quote:
yup
Just replace Chris Sabin with Jeff Jarrett and the "We are" with "I am" and you got your cover.
Quote:
I lol'd because it's true. :D |
If that was the real cover I would buy the game right now
You probably made that cover, you big queef.
if norman smiley is in the game i am buying it.
If its not being done by THQ, i'm not interested.
LMAO, yeah because THQ did a bang-up job with Smackdown Vs RAW 2007...
It'll be interesting to see how the 6 sided ring works out in video game land. Can't be any worse than in real life.
There was a TNA mod for a No Mercy N64 rom, and I believe it worked just fine.
This game will be good if you can turn off the Announcers. If you can't, then it's worthless.
THIS IS SO BIZAAAARRREEE!!!! AAAAAAUUUUGGGGGGHGHHHHHHHH
Breathe, Don West. Breeeeaaaaathe. |

Not too bad. Can't wait to see some game play.
Please please PLEASE let it have a "Make your own crowd chant" like that college basketball does.
"Angels gonna kill himself" |
Let's take bets to see if this game actually makes it to the shelf.
Looks pretty nice, doubt the final version will look like the CGI stuff there.
AJ DOESN'T COME OUT WITH HIS JACKET!!! I'M NOT GETTING THIS GAME NOW!!!!

I have high hopes for this game. I have a feeling it's going to turn out better than I except but I'm just hoping that's true.

December 13, 2006 - With Samoa Joe and AJ Styles working with Midway as consultants on the new TNA videogame, it's only fitting that the first two characters to debut in a teaser trailer are The Phenomenal One and The Samoan Submission Machine. "I haven't liked a wrestling game since the N64," Styles told me during a recent interview, "so I'm going to make sure they get this right." Samoa Joe feels the same: ""When they told us we were getting a videogame, we knew it was up to us to make sure it was good. The first day they came to talk to me and A.J., they knew we were adamant about the game being, not just good, but special, and we came in with three-to-four pages of suggestions. Stuff that worked in past games, stuff that hasn't worked, and they were pretty damn amazed by the level of detail and some of the stuff we came up with. We're definitely pushing the next-gen envelope. We're a game that's going to run at 60 frames-per-second, we're going to pump up the action, and pump up the violence level like only Midway does. Midway has a history of stylized violent games, and the TNA game should have that same type of flair." So here it is, the debut trailer for TNA iMPACT. The game won't be out until early 2008, but at least this gives you a sense of what the Impact Zone and character models will look like when the game finally ships. 2008? WTF |
Got lots of time to get the roster locked down then.
2008? SvR09 got some comp coming up.
Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles are big Fire Pro fans.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. |
Looks nice. 2008 though?
Bet they finalize a roster by early/mid 2007 and it ends up being horribly out of date ala SVR :( |
I hope there is an option to turn off chants.
I hope Don West isn't involved in any way...ala...no speaky 4 him.

That would be sweet.. and if you can change their entrance music, I'm going ROH with this fucker... "THE CHAMP IS HERE! THE CHAMP IS HERE! THE CHAMP IS HERE!" |

TNA Impact! Impressions Midway's reentry into the wrestling game business isn't going to happen until next year, but the company does have a few things to say about it. By Jeff Gerstmann, GameSpot Posted Jan 26, 2007 4:08 pm PT Midway recently held a press event to discuss some of its upcoming lineup. While the main focus was on games coming out later in 2007, attendees also got another quick glimpse at the trailer for TNA Impact!, the wrestling game currently under development in Midway's Los Angeles studio. The trailer was originally released back in December, and it shows AJ Styles and Samoa Joe entering the "Impact Zone" and briefly punching at each other in the ring. The two are also working directly with Midway as consultants on the game and are said to be heavily involved. The version of the trailer shown at the event goes on for a second or two longer and ends with a few quick flashes of other TNA wrestlers, including Jeff Jarrett, who appears to be holding up his trademark guitar. The only other official asset for the game thus far is a promotional shot featuring the TNA logo and three polygonally rendered wrestlers, AJ Styles, Monty Brown, and Jeff Hardy. The image is most definitely out of date, because Brown and Hardy no longer compete in TNA. As for the game itself, details are few and far between. The game will duplicate the six-sided ring found in TNA and will feature many different match types. The ability to create your own wrestler is another feature that the team is currently considering. The team contains some heavy-duty Midway veterans, including people who have worked on such games as NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, and more. TNA Impact! is currently scheduled for release in the first half of 2008 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. We'll have more on this one later in the year. |
$50 says this game will never be released.
I want to see how they handle the Wii.
Use the Wiimote to bash someone over the head with Jarrett's guitar.
Use the Wiimote to give someone the POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUNNNCCEEEEEEE. Period. |
Use the Wii to not purchase the game, and win all around.

What? You thought I was referring to a penis? If I were, I would have said something like "I want to see how the TNA fans in Orlando handle AJ Style's penis".

I'm so excited for this game.

Drew Carrey (right) vs Colin Mochery (Left) in an Extreme Hodown match. |
Pfft, KK, how can you have a Whose Line video game when Wayne Brady is in another promotion?
Joe's mantits are represented well
Somebody should've told them that this being a videogame, they could get away with putting TNA in a larger arena. No reason for it to look back-water in a digitized game.
Bad jokes aside; I'm eager to see what Midway can do. They made Ready to Rumble God dammit. |
They also made Psi-ops, and the Burnout series. Which are both awesometastic.
Has Midway ever done any fighting games last-gen or this-gen?
MK Armageddon
