What season did The Simpsons begin to go downhill?

It definitely hit its downfall at season eleven, but it was also declining before then.

I would have to say either nine or ten, though both seasons still had their moments. If I had to choose just one, I would probably go for nine though.

DrA 09-02-2006 07:55 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...psons_episodes for the list of episodes by season.

Triple A 09-03-2006 01:34 PM

I think it was like season 13 officially where it started to get horrible.

Tornado 09-03-2006 02:12 PM

Season 11

ct2k 09-03-2006 02:21 PM

New Simpsons are just surreal, they're funny sometimes, but every week you know its gonna rely on a stupid unfunny celebrity cameo, and Family-Guyesque randomness that doesn't work because its not Family Guy

Downunder 09-03-2006 06:34 PM

Season 3

Sorry episode 3

DrA 09-04-2006 03:23 AM

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that only people whose opinions matter will be allowed to post in this thread.

Mr. Monday Morning 09-04-2006 06:50 AM

The season where the first episode was the one where Homer decides he wants to be like Thomas Edison. The animation style and everything just changed. Terrible episode.

Mr. Nerfect 09-04-2006 04:51 PM

New Simpsons are pure shit. Get Conan O'Brien to write some scripts when he's taking shits. That will be better. Guaranteed.

The episodes started to get botchy around Season 11. There were some good episodes floating around, though. If I had been a little bit older, and a little bit wiser at the time, I'd have really noticed a shift in the series, though, and probably started saying things like "I hope they get their shit together for Season 12". They didn't.

Joey Slugs 09-05-2006 12:17 PM

The season after Conan left.

FakeLaser 09-05-2006 03:54 PM

I noticed a change following season 8. It was still good but it was on its way down.

Silent 09-06-2006 02:07 AM

Season 8, I just picked up the DVD and only like half of the episodes I would watch again.

YOUR Hero 09-10-2006 07:42 PM

when it left the Tracy Ulman show.

Nah, Conan only wrote like three episodes for The Simpsons anyway.

You just don't like The Simpsons because Downunder likes The Simpsons, meaning that you give in to peer pressure and are therefore insecure about yourself.

Savio 09-10-2006 08:18 PM

2 or 3 seasons ago

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that The Simpsons is a load of overhyped bollocks.

DrA 09-11-2006 12:34 AM

I also forgot to mention that you don't count because your maps are upsidedown.

Triple A 09-11-2006 01:54 AM

Season 8 is incredible. BEST SEASON YET I think in terms of DVD releases. Every episode is classic. COME ON THE HANK SCORPIO EPISODE????????? How can you say that season sucks?

ct2k 09-11-2006 04:28 PM

Oh no don't get me wrong, I love that episode and several others, but there were some that just really sucked, like the Mary Poppins one, that was just shit I thought.

Savio 09-18-2006 07:59 AM

tonight it was pretty terrible however American dad (best of the night) and Family guy were good.

FakeLaser 09-18-2006 07:19 PM

Season 12 is the first season that is complete garbage. 11 was about 50/50.

Seasons 3-8 was The Simpsons' prime. Seasons 5 and 7 were probably the best.

FakeLaser 09-18-2006 07:20 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Las...un_in_the_West

Worst episode ever.

What eps did Conan write?

Y2Jeremy 09-27-2006 04:11 PM

I don't remember the names, but they were really funny. They made the Simpsons seem like a completely unique cartoon. Now, the Simpsons are rarely funny, but I watch it anyway because it is the Simpsons. Like WWE. Check Tv.com to see the exact episodes that he wrote.

Impact! 09-29-2006 10:35 AM

Can't someone else do it

Destor 09-29-2006 01:50 PM

New Kid on the Block
Marge vs the Monarail
Homer goes to College
Tree House of Horror IV-wraparounds

Conan is the fucking man. Why is he not helping out with the movie?

Y2Jeremy 09-30-2006 02:42 PM

Because he is a douche....COMPTON...
joking, he is busy with his show, or at least that is why he left the simpsons the first time.

Chuck Jones 09-30-2006 09:55 PM

Season 12. They did an episode about area codes.

They did an episode about FUCKING AREA CODES!

FakeLaser 10-01-2006 12:55 AM

Homer Goes To College is definitely a top 10 episode.

Crippla 10-01-2006 06:30 AM

Season 13/14 is where I'd say it went downhill.

AdrianM 10-10-2006 07:04 AM

Season 1 was only average, cos the focus was too much on Bart.
Season's 2 to 4 were the best, because that's when Homer was his most hilarious, with episodes like:
- Mr. Lisa goes to Washington(my single favourite episode)
- Colonel Homer
- Brother can you spare two dimes
-Last exit to Springfield (second best episode ever).

When season 5 came, the show seemed to change IMO. Not necceasrily in a bad way, but it did change, mainly cos the focus drifted away from Homer somewhat. Still had some awesome episode like:
- Homer's barbershop quartet (3rd favoutie epidosde)
- The last temptation of Homer (4th favourite episode)
- Homerpalooza.

Seems after about series 9, it went downwards, and by season 11, its was total shit...I haven't even watched past season 11 really tbh

Jeritron 10-11-2006 02:01 AM

I'd say Season 10 or 11. But the quality of those 10 seasons is enough for 20. Some people point out a relationship between the sudden declining quality and the death of phil hartman.
