Cryme TYMe! yay or nay?

yay.
Seems like we're back in the early 90's with gimmicks like the Highlanders and now this..but I don't mind..better than what they have in the tag division now!

Better Than You 09-05-2006 12:09 AM

poll? also yay

D Mac 09-05-2006 12:10 AM

WHO THE FUCK ARE THEY

Better Than You 09-05-2006 12:11 AM

New tag team they started to promo on tonight on rAW

D Mac 09-05-2006 12:13 AM

I know that but what are the guys names and have they wrestled before?

D Mac 09-05-2006 12:14 AM

Also, I had a flashback of The Gangstas when I saw this promo.

Fignuts 09-05-2006 01:02 AM

Yeah dunno how they are going to get away with this.

AJHayes 09-05-2006 01:08 AM

I can sense Spike Lee's anger from where I sit.

Skippord 09-05-2006 02:14 AM

YAY

Funky Fly 09-05-2006 02:44 AM

I died a little inside when I saw that.

Well, better go pre-order their T-shirts.

Mr. JL 09-05-2006 03:19 AM

I thought the skit was pretty stupid.

Blitz 09-05-2006 03:21 AM

'twill no doubt be one of the gimmicks that everyone hates right now but will be heaping praise upon in a month or so.

Destor 09-05-2006 03:28 AM

It's awesome, should be a great heel team. But I'm worried they will be pushed as face with a "lie, cheat, and steal" gimmick.

Mr. JL 09-05-2006 03:39 AM

^

& that they are motivated by Eddie Guerrero's character and embody his spirit. Then Rey Mysterio will show up and say nobody can ride Eddie's coatails except for himself. Which will then bring out Chavo, who will be followed by Vickie.

Before we know it, we'll have another two months full of "Eddie" stuff that is not in good taste.

????????????

Destor 09-05-2006 05:48 AM

Considering I only know their WWE handles I don't think I can find anything on them Diesel. I tried though.

6to1 09-05-2006 08:44 AM

i like lax better

Kane Knight 09-05-2006 09:00 AM

WORST. PROMO VIDEO. EVER. :wtf: :nono: :shifty:

XL 09-05-2006 10:03 AM

I quite enjoyed that video!

The voiceover made it hilarious though so I don't know how it will work past these promo vids! Hell it's another TAG TEAM for a division that seems to be getting it's bi-annual attention from the bookers. (No doubt they will debut, win a No. 1 Contender match, win the belts on their first try and split up once they lose them)

PEACE OUT!

Kane Knight 09-05-2006 10:23 AM

You know, on Smackdown, JBL even took a shot at the lackluster tag division (Prior to these new groups).

OF course, that was Smackdown's titles, but apparently, even we're supposed to be aware.

Corkscrewed 09-05-2006 12:27 PM

I think it's fucking priceless. It's politically incorrect, but who cares? It's parody.

I personally love it.

Fox 09-05-2006 01:01 PM

I say give it time. If we can love a guy acting like a retard, we can eventually come to love this.

Y2Jeremy 09-05-2006 01:12 PM

Nay for now. It seems to more of a stereotype than a parody. Maybe they will be entertaining, but I don't think so.

LOL This was thier only other time on Raw.

Anybody Thrilla 09-05-2006 02:11 PM

They've had one fucking promo.

Destor 09-05-2006 02:14 PM

And we are talking about said promo and the possibilities of the gimmick. Point?

D Mac 09-05-2006 02:17 PM

We've seen this before.

You might just wanna let it ride out a little more is all I'm saying.

Destor 09-05-2006 02:24 PM

Just giving the first impresions. Nothing set in stone.

Dude the voiceover MAKES it a parody!!

Without the VO I would say it seems like a stereotype. With the VO it is blatantly a parody!

Come on jump on board the Cryme Tyme Train!

(Try saying that 3 times fast)
I bet you someone types it three times now

Kane Knight 09-05-2006 03:21 PM

The line between satire and offense is often a very blurred one.

Me? I barely paid attention to the promo. I didn't find it that funny, but I didn't find it any more racist than half of broadcast TV 90% of cable. Actually, I think they'd have to spend a two minute promo eating fried chicken, drinking malt liquor, and smoking pot while calling each other nigga ad nauseum to be more racist than cable.

I don't overtly hate the gimmick, but neither do I really like it.

Destor 09-05-2006 03:23 PM

The word 'meh' could have saved you some time.

Savio 09-05-2006 04:27 PM

Yay

I like how it shows us the majority of what african americans are like and not the fake ones we call ABT

ClockShot 09-05-2006 05:42 PM

Like I said in the Raw thread last night. It's M.O.M. redux.

But, since a thing called the tag team division exists, and there are spots to be filled. Yay I say. For now.

Already used it, but since people were arguing over whether it was a stereotype or parody....

...Sorry, that probably escaped you.

Destor 09-05-2006 06:20 PM

Apparently my post went over your head.

Kane Knight 09-05-2006 06:29 PM

At this point, I just assume you mean the most linear and brainless thing possible, as that's generally true. I'm sorry I missed the "deeper meaning" of a post whose meaning was rather obvious and pointless.

Destor 09-05-2006 07:44 PM

So obvious you failed to understand? Speaks volumes. Now go ahead and give some speech how it was beneath you or something.

Anybody Thrilla 09-05-2006 08:07 PM

People who get offended about this being stereotypical shouldn't be fans of Finlay either.

Evil Vito 09-05-2006 08:10 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Big time yay

Hypocrisy? In wrestling?

I've never heard of such a thing. ;)

M-A-G 09-05-2006 08:35 PM

Haha, I sort of did something similar on EWR. I made a team called the Thug Life Soldiers. Man they were hella over. Not sure how this gonna pan out though.

Gotta say, that was quite hilarious.

These guys aren't like The Gangstas in ECW, either. New Jack and Mustafa were posed as actual gangstas, while these guys are obviously a joke. Should be interesting to see how it pans out, and I think there might be some pretty comical promos in their future.

Crimson 09-05-2006 08:57 PM

Yea the voiceover made it funnier..but even the way these dudes were talking was funny...

And the WWE is filled with stereotypes so why all of a sudden all up in arms over this one? It looks like it could get over anyhow.

Caged Heat18 09-05-2006 08:58 PM

I didn't really think it was that funny, or offensive. However, it is another tag team on Raw so thats a plus, but I'll wait a few more weeks to formulate an opinion on them.

Yeah, I'll be more bothered if they suck in the ring.

Savio 09-05-2006 11:16 PM

I hope they pop a cap in Mikeys ass.

Savio 09-05-2006 11:22 PM

"Yo I wanna give a shout out to big dirty, pac, platapus-"

DominateR 09-06-2006 01:03 PM

well I know a lot of you thought Eugene would be a stupid character to have on RAW...and since day 1 the crowd has loved him...I think that cryme tyme can be successful as a heel tag team for sure.

And amazingly, 90% of us went back to thinking it was stupid after the novelty wore off. And then the fans started turning on him in the arenas. Are you sure you don't want to pick a better example?

Sure, it's an example of "You might be surprised," But it didn't take very long for the surprise to wear off, and for business to return to usual. In other words, in the longterm, the naysayers were really right.

Savio 09-07-2006 11:57 AM

People thought matt hardy made the wrong decision when he went back to the WWE but hey he's the only one that beat kennedy 1 on 1

:shifty:

Rob 09-07-2006 02:22 PM

Cryme Tyme is the best thing in wrestling since The Zombie.

addy2hotty 09-08-2006 07:44 PM

I hadn't watched Raw before reading this thread, and truely thought that it was said Cry Me Ty Me, and they were some sort of S&M tag team.

Now theres an idea.

Volare 09-08-2006 07:52 PM

I just hope now the WWE dosen't turn them into Cena's Lackys or members of the "Chain Gang"

Or, I hope the find Cena and beat the shit out of him.
