NHL 2006-2007 Season Thread

Here it is boys. This season is going to be amazing. Talk about anything and everything hockey in here.

Stickman 09-13-2006 05:32 PM

You're a couple weeks early.

Blitz 09-13-2006 05:49 PM

Nah not really. Pre season starts on Monday.

LEAFS ARE TAKING IT.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-13-2006 06:38 PM

I found myself becoming a bit of Blue Jackets fan last year since their's were the only games I could watch because I don't get OLN. Perhaps I should jump on the bandwagon while there's still front row seats available.

Leafs will be terrible as usual.

Blitz 09-13-2006 07:04 PM

Columbus signs Anson Carter :n:

Also, fuck you Stickman.

Stickman 09-13-2006 07:29 PM

Anson Carter is an idiot for leaving Vancouver. He will not have the same season as he did last year.

Also, Fuck all leaf fans.

The joke that is the New York Islanders continues with the 15 year 67.5 million dollar a year contract handed out to Rick Dipietro.

MVP 09-14-2006 12:19 PM

Pretty sure I'm going to TD Banknorth Garden today to meet Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Marco Sturm, Zdeno Chara, PJ Axelsson, and others and getting their autographs.

Gertner 09-14-2006 12:40 PM

Belak for hart!

Stickman 09-14-2006 02:48 PM

It should be interesting to see how the Canucks do this year. They were a solid team for the past 3-5 years and now have done a 180 turn with personnel. Also, Fuck you Bob Clarke.

Yeah the Yashin deal worked out so well for the Islanders, they figured they could do 15 with a mediocre goalie

dablackguy 09-14-2006 03:25 PM

Here's a question, I drafted Yanic Perreault for my fantasy team, but have heard nothing on the guy at all. He was in Nashville last year but ended the year injured. Did he retire? Where in the world is Yanic Perreault??

Supreme Olajuwon 09-14-2006 03:55 PM

I think Perreault is still unsigned.

Theyr'e a team that is completely unknown of how they'll do this year. You can't even make a relevent prediction. They could suck because their D and RW is lacking, they could be great because they're unknowns like Buffalo and Carolina were last year. A hard working team infront of Luongo could do some damage. The salary cap really really really hurt this team. They were onto something good before the lockout.

Anson Carter signed for more money than he could have ever got out of Vancouver, even before the Kesler events. So he's not an idiot. As a Canuck fan, I hope he does shitty in Columbus, but he'll be playing with Nash and Fedorov (reports say) so I think he'll most likely do better or as good as he did last season.

Columbus comes out of the east so I take back my Carter remark.

lol

It also helps that I go to college 30 min from Boston.

LoDownM 09-15-2006 06:08 PM

As long as the Penguins aint last in the league this year i'll be happy :(

Gertner 09-16-2006 03:04 PM

they still have no defence and an inconsistant goalie, so it may be another long season for the pens

MVP 09-16-2006 03:38 PM

They got Recchi back, but he is too old to keep up with the fast teams. He's still good for scoring though.

Gertner 09-16-2006 03:40 PM

i'm totally not questioning their offence. It'll be solid with Cros, Armstrong, Ouelett, Recchi, Malkin, LEclair etc.... it's their defence that scares me. They've shown no effort to address it what so ever be it through the draft or free agency

Crippla 09-16-2006 05:25 PM

I will come back to this thread when the Bruins are good again which isn't any time soon....

They did add Eaton and Ekman is a solid defensive forward, they've upgdraed their 3rd and 4th lines, they won't make the playoffs but they shouldn't be worst in the East either.

weather vane 09-17-2006 05:46 AM

STICKY THIS

Skippord 09-17-2006 10:10 PM

Avs will probably suck this year

Fignuts 09-17-2006 10:55 PM

Colorado teams suck at everything.

btw I see Jake Plumber is back in usual shitty form.

Buffalo better take the division this year. New uniforms better not be gay either. At least they'll have the classic blue and gold for home.

Skippord 09-17-2006 11:14 PM

Alright I'll give you the Rockies and the Nuggets but the Broncos are usually good and the Avalanche havent missed the playoffs

CNM 09-18-2006 03:03 AM

Yeah the Nuggets have sucked their way to the playoffs 3 years in a row

Blitz 09-18-2006 03:31 AM

Whhy is Bondra still unsigned? Welcome to the salary cap, boys and girls.

Blitz 09-23-2006 03:48 AM

Leafs should not sign Bondra.

Gertner 09-23-2006 03:44 PM

We can't go into the season with Tucker and O'Neill as our top 2 wingers.......we just can't.

Blitz 09-23-2006 04:15 PM

Agreed we need a winger, I'd just prefer someone other than Bondra.

Gertner 09-23-2006 04:25 PM

lol there really isn't anybody else.

YOUR Hero 09-23-2006 07:45 PM

Anson Carter sooooo wanted to be a Maple Leaf.

Blitz 09-24-2006 01:55 AM

I know :(

Rumours were they were gonna trade Nik Antropov to free up some room for Carter. Damn I wish they had.

Prolly just end up either getting Bondra or trading either Tellqvist or Aubin for something.

I think that logo needs legs. Also some colour bands on the lower half or something. I do like it well enough, but the buffalo needs to be fully formed and perhaps a bit bigger in the jersey or like I said some colour bands.. or one big one on the bottom. It's too far away from a traditional hockey jersey as it stands right now.

YOUR Hero 09-24-2006 01:55 PM

Just to further explain my point.

Look at this similar logo for Phoenix.
http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com...key_dna101.jpg

It was smart enough to look all new but still add the colour bands.borders on the bottom of it's uniform to complete it. Otherwise the jersey looks incomplete. I do like the player's number on the jersey's front like the Sabres have...

This pre-season isn't providing any break out players. Kesler has looked good, Burrows not too bad, but no one has snuck up and made a person go 'wow'. Remember though, it is just the pre-season.

Blitz 09-28-2006 10:40 PM

Leafs have had an interesting pre season. Alexander Suglobov has looked prety good, and I also wouldn't mind seeing Bates Battaglia make the team. But there's still no clearcut choice for backup goalie (IMO).

Also, Latendresse is a Hab. I hope he replaces perezhogin.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-29-2006 05:18 PM

Blue Jackets finally signed Zherdev. If Zherdev and Brule both reach their potential a Nash-Brule-Zherdev line could be pretty terrifying. The rest of the team might suck but whatever.

YOUR Hero 09-29-2006 09:58 PM

Nash-Fedorov-Carter

Supreme Olajuwon 10-01-2006 01:36 PM

Actually I believe when everyone is healthy the front line will be Nash-Fedorov-Vyborny. Carter will be on the 2nd line

YOUR Hero 10-01-2006 01:46 PM

either way, they are stacked up front. Plus they have grit. They have decent defense and solid goaltending (although I think Ward may be over his head) They will again be one of the favoured teams.

Heyman 10-01-2006 05:31 PM

I agree with this.

Also - I'm not so sure about Columbus' defense. They have an aging Adam Foote, and a "damaged goods" Bryan Berard. Who else do they have?

Pascal Leclaire (Columbus' goalie if I'm not mistaken) should be pretty decent.

The team that makes me sick however, is the friggin' Ducks. :nono: Thank god the Canucks aren't in that division. :y: Pacific Division is far and away the toughest division this year IMO. San Jose and Anaheim should be insanely good, while the Kings and Dallas won't be too shabby either.

Phoenix, with Jovanovski, Roenick, and Nolan, might put themselves back into playoff contention as well.

San Jose should be amazing. I think Dallas will be really strong as well. They added some good fowards, in Lindros, Ribiero, and Stefan. While Stefan hasn't lived up to being a number one pick he still is a quality foward. Plus Turco's great in the regular season.

I don't think Phoenix will be anything this year. Jovanovski defintely helps, but Roenik is old, Nolan hasn't played in two years. Nagy's good, as his Doan, but who else can score?

Caged Heat18 10-03-2006 06:51 PM

Did anybody see how the Devils pulled off their miracle of getting Malakhov and Mogilny's contracts off the salary cap. They just resigned Gionta, Martin, Hale, Clemmenson, and Rasmussen. I understand that a lot of people will be unhappy with Lou, but he pulled it off within the rules. I am a huge Devils fan, so this is great news for me.

Anybody see the Stars/Avalanche game? Awesome ending in overtime with Turco sending a long pass to Sydor coming out the pentaly box, and then roofing it on a breakaway to win the game and complete the comeback. I really think the Stars are going to be great this year.
