Heroes

Did anyone catch this premiere?

Seemed like a solid show. I felt like they were trying too hard to emulate lost's format, and there were pretty cheesy parts, but it was good enough that I'm interested in watching next week's.

The villain seemed straight out of the secret world of alex mack, by the way.

RoXer 09-26-2006 08:19 PM

Yeah watched it last night and wasn;t REALLY impressed but I'll keep watching. Seems like it's moving real fast though.

loopydate 09-26-2006 08:26 PM

I was a little disappointed, but I had my hopes really really high for this show. It's still very good, and I'll definitely watch next week. But a lot of it feels like an X-Men knockoff (scientist who's studying "the next step in evolution," teleporter, psychic, healer...)

Buzzkill 09-26-2006 08:32 PM

too many characters to follow, too

PapaGeorgio 09-26-2006 08:34 PM

I was interested, gave it a few minutes. Just wasn't feeling it. Don't need another show like that. Lost, while good annoys me enough with all the fucking secrets. TV shows need to get to the point faster. I can't be watching 5 seasons of a show just to find out why everything is going on.

Blitz 09-26-2006 11:43 PM

I dug it.

Downunder 09-27-2006 09:18 PM

I d/l it last night, I'll watch it again - if only to see that mirror chick fuck some more dudes up.

Also, the Jap guy telling his friend that Aborigines can bend time and space is totally wrong. The only thing Abos can bend is wood, and then they throw the fucker.

Boondock Saint 09-28-2006 12:34 AM

I enjoyed it. It wasn't great but I think it'll pick up. Ali Larter is smoking hot.

So is that cheerleader chick. :shifty:

I'm in love with her. She scares me.

YOUR Hero 09-28-2006 11:41 PM

I dug the way they made it seem like the younger brother could fly, only to... LOL have it be the older brother. Time will tell if the younger brother can also fly or whatever, but it was a nice twist.
Overall I thought the show was good. Whether or not I'll be up to watching all the time, I don't know. I'm bad at keeping up on TV shows. Like BattleStar G, I really like that show, but rarely catch it. - White man's burden I guess.

RoXer 10-03-2006 12:39 AM

Hopefully the pilot from Lost won't get eaten by a monster.

Downunder 10-03-2006 03:39 AM

Episode 2 has be posted on Demoniod, I'm downloading now.

I don't think the younger brother will have any powers at all - he's the believer and the older one is the level headed cynic. I reckon the younger one will get jealous of his older brother and turn evil.

Which one is he?

Blitz 10-03-2006 03:44 AM

He doesn't debut till Ep 2.

Episode 2 is very interesting seems like a pretty interesting villain.

Boondock Saint 10-03-2006 04:48 PM

Yeah I liked the second episode. Things are starting to get interesting.

or both brothers could have the ability to fly :o

That is a straight up referrence to Gateway of X-Men fame.

Downunder 10-04-2006 04:46 AM

Well then Gateway of X-men fame knows fuck all about abos too

Funky Fly 10-04-2006 05:54 AM

Nah, Gateway is the man. Also, he is Bishop's grandad.

Optimus Bone 69 10-04-2006 07:52 AM

what day is this on in the usa?

Boondock Saint 10-04-2006 11:53 AM

Mondays at 9.

Buzzkill 10-04-2006 05:25 PM

I just hate the villain. He just seems way too cartoon evil. Plus, the methods to indicate he's the bad guy are too cliché, like holding the shot on him for a long time after someone leaves the room as ominous music plays.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying the show.

Blitz 10-04-2006 05:58 PM

I'm not absolutely sure yet if if Claire's dad is also this Sylar guy.

Buzzkill 10-05-2006 04:22 AM

hmm

YOUR Hero 10-06-2006 10:22 PM

same person I'd say, Blitz

Blitz 10-06-2006 10:59 PM

Yeah, they prolly are the same, I just hope they aren't.

Blitz 10-10-2006 02:29 AM

Another good episode. Loved the ending.

Mjdiesel 10-13-2006 12:39 AM

From what I saw of the show (ie the Premiere) I liked it. What I didn't like is how they evolved everything into one episode and tried to have various subplots within that one airing.

But then again, the little girl from Remember the Titans has grown up alright. She's a babe. Final Destination girl would also get it too.

One final note, they totally ripped off X-Men and sodomized it. If they can at least acknowledge (and they made a reference to the comic in the first episode) then all will be well. It's funny too because before that X-Men cartoon on Fox, NBC ran an X-Men cartoon that lasted one episode but didn't go anywhere. Maybe they're trying to make up for lost time?

Lock Jaw 10-13-2006 01:33 AM

I've liked the show so far...

But regarding the last episode... so if you didn't see it you should probably stop reading now if you don't want it spoiled....

Did they really have to cut Claire open like that? I mean... don't they do that when they want to find out the cause of death? I think in Claire's case the cause would be apparent (ie, big wooden stake embedded in her neck). On that note, geez... Claire is really clumsy. Everytime she falls down she breaks her neck or gets impaled with something. Must be tiresome.

Buzzkill 10-13-2006 02:03 AM

Autopsies are mandatory in suspicious deaths.

Boondock Saint 10-13-2006 02:57 AM

Hey NBC, she's a cheerleader, WE GET IT. Does she have ANY OTHER clothes?

YOUR Hero 10-13-2006 11:15 AM

So does that mean if she gets something in her brain, she "dies"? .. but not if she's gutted :?: ...know what I'm sayin'? Kind of odd that she'd revive by having the stick removed from her brain even though she's since been pulled apart by a coroner.
The Japanese guy is funny.

Buzzkill 10-13-2006 05:52 PM

If theres a foreign object in the wound it won't heal.

Downunder 10-13-2006 09:32 PM

Why dd they gut her before removing the stick in her head?

That doesn't make sense.

Good episode. Things are moving along nicely. I liked the ending a lot.

RoXer 10-17-2006 09:30 PM

Yeah good stuff so far

DS 10-17-2006 10:57 PM

I think the ending of the last episode was by far the best. The rest of it is a pretty stupid show honestly.

Lock Jaw 10-24-2006 01:09 AM

Pretty sweet show today. It's really starting to pick up.

Blitz 10-24-2006 01:17 AM

Yeah, really liked tonight's ep. Claire's dad is all sorts of bad ass, and the scene at the beginning with Nathan flying off was awesome.

Adrian Pasdar

Boondock Saint 10-24-2006 02:15 AM

Hot shit.

Lock Jaw 10-24-2006 03:27 AM

Only thing I didn't get was how Hiro suddenly became fluent in English when talking to Nathan.

Blitz 10-24-2006 04:28 AM

He seem to recall Ando saying he would teach Hiro some english last ep.

Lock Jaw 10-24-2006 11:45 AM

Yeah but even so, he shouldn't be able to fully comprehend what people are saying, or be able to form such coherent sentences.

Plus later in the episode he goes bck to acting like he doesn't know English.

How about you pay attention next time..... When Hiro was on the train with Nathan, he said that he was from the future. That is why he had long hair and the soulpatch (along with the sword) and that is also why he spoke perfect english.

That's not what Lockjaw's talking about. He means the scene in the Diner where Nathan flew in. You're thinking of when he talked to Peter on the subway.

I think you should apologize to Lockjaw for your flippant tone.

Joey Slugs 10-24-2006 06:15 PM

Ugh. Yeah.... something like that.

Buzzkill 10-25-2006 06:31 PM

Nathan Petrelli is the only good actor IMO

Blitz 10-25-2006 08:30 PM

Nah Hiro's great, so's the cop.

Buzzkill 10-25-2006 08:50 PM

Oh yeah word, those 2 are good too.

Buzzkill 10-25-2006 08:50 PM

HEEEEERRRROOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWWWW YOHHHK ^_^

YOUR Hero 10-28-2006 08:14 PM

If NY is supposed to go BOOM on Nov. 2 there is alot that needs to happen in a very short period of time.

Buzzkill 10-31-2006 09:42 PM

Looks like nikki just made a huge heel turn

And D.L. turned face

HUGE NIGHT FOR PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING

YOUR Hero 10-31-2006 10:21 PM

You think Niki's dead?

Buzzkill 11-01-2006 02:10 AM

Not a chance. Way too early in the season...that plus she's in the plot synopsis for next week's episode :SHIFTY:

YOUR Hero 11-01-2006 10:59 AM

I think it would be really good if characters that are main characters are killed. Keep you guessing. I mean come on TL reached into her chest and grabbed her heart, she should be dead.

Buzzkill 11-01-2006 04:07 PM

Yeah I wish she was dead, I think it'd be an interesting and unexpected twist. D.L. = badass from hell, though

YOUR Hero 11-07-2006 11:29 PM

Well she's not dead.

I missed the last 15 minutes of the show. -What happened?

RoXer 11-07-2006 11:39 PM

I really want to bone that cheerleader. Really.

Ummmm the kid has super-powers where he can fix electronics, that Sylar guy's superpower is radiation, annnd I forget.

Blitz 11-07-2006 11:48 PM

That wasn't Sylar, Joey.

YOUR Hero 11-07-2006 11:57 PM

Yeah some dude I saw could burn things, radiation... and all that shit. Last night was the episode that was supposed to bring about the NY explosion, so it looks like it was the cop and his mind reading abilities that saved NY from the explosion. Or did you guys read it differently?

RoXer 11-08-2006 01:51 AM

Yeah my B. Sprague was his name.

Amyangel 11-09-2006 04:28 AM

I like it and will see it again.

Good show tonight. Horned Rimmed Glasses is the man

Buzzkill 11-14-2006 02:30 AM

Yeah best episode of the series so far in my opinion.

YOUR Hero 11-14-2006 11:22 AM

I was thinking some of you guys might have gotten bored with the show, thinking it's moving too slow. Me, I love it's pace, I love the way it unfolds slow and steady.

Buzzkill 11-14-2006 08:39 PM

As an avid LOST fan, I'm fine with the pace

Blitz 11-20-2006 10:57 PM

Hot episode tonight

This is my new favourite show.

Lock Jaw 11-21-2006 01:26 AM

Yeah, good episode. Though I'm confused as to what Peter did that actually changed the future. Seems to me he didn't do much. (Other than fulfill his future seen in the painting)

But still... pretty good episode. Action oriented.

I also found out that the Haitian and DL are two seperate people. Thought they were the same guy. Not that I'm saying black people all look alike to me.

Joey Slugs 11-21-2006 01:39 AM

next week is:

"six months ago"

YOUR Hero 11-21-2006 09:55 PM

Yeah, Hiro will be working on saving the waitress that can learn things super fast. I wonder if him doing this will change the future of the now, of what we just saw last night, since he'll (most likely) run in to Skyler.

Optimus Bone 69 11-22-2006 08:06 AM

Is Skyler Nathan Petrelli?

Blitz 11-22-2006 10:29 AM

Skylar is no one.

Optimus Bone 69 11-22-2006 12:11 PM

just a thought.

Ah, good point.

Hope this episode next week isn't all Hiro however. Will probably be going back and forth between six months ago and now. Will it totally void this week's episode?

Hiro is awesome BTW.

YOUR Hero 11-27-2006 07:27 PM

Yeah, I'm thinking in the end, since they've caught Skyler, that what Hiro does '6 months ago' will void (in your words) what we just saw.

YOUR Hero 11-27-2006 07:28 PM

Who knows!

YOUR Hero 11-28-2006 11:55 AM

Good stuff last night. Kinda like a prequel to alot of the stuff that was just there. It's like Sylar can take things apart, fix them, learn from them. I think what's happening is he dissects the brain, figures out the mutation and adds it to his being. At least that's what I'm getting from it. Patrelli can do it naturally, Sylar does it through dissection.

RoXer 11-28-2006 03:25 PM

Word.

And good stuff so far.

Blitz 11-28-2006 04:21 PM

Sylar is pretty cool.

Buzzkill 11-28-2006 07:38 PM

So did Sylar have any powers to begin with I wonder, or did it just start with the telekinesis guy?

YOUR Hero 11-28-2006 08:12 PM

Well I'm thinking his power was the ability to take (dissect) things apart and figure them out, like the watches. The more he worked on watches, the faster he could see a problem with them, fix them. Like when the doctor walked in and he saw the watch on his wrist and knew immediately that it was off by 2 seconds. I believe as he began learning from dissection and figuring out the powers that each had, he had the ability to make it his. Maybe he finds the soul in there or something as was proposed by the Doctor. Either way, he assumes their power, somehow, through the dissection process.

Blitz 11-28-2006 10:34 PM

He seemed to have the power to hear when something wasn't functioning "properly".

Dunno how he seemingly gains their powers tho.

Avenger 11-28-2006 10:38 PM

Great stuff. Last night's episode was brilliant.

Best episode yet.

The great thing about this show is that it allows you to think. It's not like Lost where you can consider all possibilities but they just change the story one week later, it's like the pieces are in front of us but we have to put them together. The clues are there, they are subtle, but they are there.

Better than Lost :o

I believe Patrelli can only use the powers of those that he is around. I don't think he can use them otherwise. But I got the same sort of feeling from Sylar. I think he "takes apart" their heads and learns their powers and he wants to become as powerful as possible so he's finding everyone and learning from them.

YOUR Hero 11-29-2006 11:24 AM

Also, I'm beginning to think Nicky doesn't have powers. More that she's possessed by her dead sister. You know, not all these unique people have to have powers.

Also, I know Nathan absorbs other powers but has none himself and that that absorbed power goes away soon after he's out of contact with them. He so much as said so himself.

Patrelli set his leg quite some time after the cheerleader left. I'm not sure if it was "just because," but it'd seem the duration is getting better.

People look at Sylar wrong. Sylar sees how things work. That's how he sees how things are broken. How that translates into being able to alter his own brain to adapt new powers, I'm not entirely sure, but he's apparently able to do so.

I don't think he needs to take things apart in any sense, I believe he has a natural understanding of what's right, and what's wrong.

Actually, I'm kind of hoping that he doesn't need to kill people to take their powers, because the "villain" from one of my series does the same thing...

YOUR Hero 12-02-2006 10:21 PM

I was going to mention that Patrelli set his legs quite a bit after the cheerleader left, yeah... I like your concept on Sylar, but I do believe he has to get inside to figure it out, IE kill them.

Kane Knight 12-02-2006 10:24 PM

Well, he figured out the problem before ever touching the watch...Or the PK.

Avenger 12-02-2006 10:29 PM

Why the slicing of the head then?

Avenger 12-02-2006 10:29 PM

Just seems a tad unnecessary.

Buzzkill 12-02-2006 10:55 PM

He understands where the abnormality in the brain is. He removes it, then uses it himself.

Nikki definitely has powers...whether or not her split personality is a part of it, ripping people in half with your bare hands isn't that normal tbh

But I think that's because he was a watch repair guy... I think over time, he might be able to see things instant like you say but remember, he got the cheerleaders wrong. He is fallible at this point.

AS for Nicky, I believe it's the dead sister that had the power and is using her living sister to do her deeds. (Is Nicky the dead sister or the living, I've become confused on which is which... name wise)

He was able to analyse the PK without killing him. Didn't he explicitly say (I didn't record this, or I'd check) that he could see it in his brain? Prior to beaning the fucker? It's not just the watch that he was able to diagnose pre-dissection.

As for the Cheerleader? I made this comment to my buddy while watching it. I then said, "Then again, everyone else was sure she was the 'special' one, so why not just assume?"

He may be fallible, but he hardly had any reason to go scanning for her--she was big news. He may have simply been killing her so she wouldn't fight back--Not so much because he needed to. I'd imagine, since he killed the other guy with a speech that made it sound like he was gunning to kill all the Nova...Errrr...Heroes, that he's on a mission. And I bet it's easier to deal with them if he's not worrying about them fighting back. But he doesn't need to open them up to see the problem.

He may need to to assimilate the powers, but that's still unclear. And I hope not.

Kane Knight 12-02-2006 11:32 PM

PK: Psychokinetic (Telekinetic), BTW.

The two girls were together, so if he could read the PK guy then how come he couldn't read the cheerleader?

I think he knew the PK because of Chandra's notes. He knew he could do something. He probably simply went to the guy and used the same reasoning that Chandra did with him and asked if he had any abnormal powers, telling the guy he could help him.
