300
Need to read this ishhhh |
I couldn't look at that trailer, is that the film based on the Frank Millar graphic novel?
Yes.
Saw that trailer in the theater Thursday night. Absolutely amazing.
Oh hell yeah.
Yeah trailer looked wonderful.
YES
Honestly, the trailer seemed kind of hokey to me.
2 siccccc
"THIS IS SPARTA!"
Looks good. But the 300 Spartan army movie has been done a few times already. Hopefully Frank Miller can make it better. Troy, in my opinion, set the bar for the Greek myth movie this day in age.
Didn't know what 300 was until I downloaded the HD trailer and damn!
It looks really good. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0gfZnWVoqZ8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0gfZnWVoqZ8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> |
I am going to see this opening day, first movie in a long time to excite me this much.

I have to agree, that was a rather shitty movie. Gladiator IMO is the best.
Gladiator has set the bar - Troy fell very short, as did that other pile of crap with the Lord of the rings guy in it.
I think I'd be too distracted by the over stylized way it's been filmed. I didn't really like Sin City for that same reason. It was a good story, but the fanboy moving comic book look just bugged the hell out of me. A Scanner Darkly just flat out pissed me off just looking at it.
If the story doesn't require it to be over-stylized, it shouldn't be. |
Both 300 and Grindhouse (whic I have already screened both) are going to blow people away. Serious.
I'm confused as to why the Persian army contains monsters.
'Our arrows will block out the sun!'
'Then we will fight in the shade' :D |
Tonight...we dine...in HELL!
Quote:
Yeah. Either that or it's just made that way to make fanboys swoon and shell out more money.
Saw it last night. Never before 300 was any move epic. Lord of the Rings saw this movie and shit its pants.
Watching it again tonight. |
Going to the midnight showing tonight...
Ive only heard good things so far.... |
Yeah I can't wait for this movie. Been waiting for it for ages. Gonna be so good.
OMG I CANT WAIT TILL TOMORROW I CANT SLEEP CAUSE I'M SO EXCITED GONNA HAVE TO DOWN SOME NYQUIL TO KNOCK ME OUT.
I love taking USC's CTCS 466 class, taught by Professor Leonard Maltin. We get to see movies before they come out!
Anyway, this movie was AWESOME. I highly recommend every WC male to watch it, because it's a total guy movie. Lots of violence, blood, gore, incredible visuals (director Zach Snyder did an amazing job matching the graphic novel feel of the story, which is based off the Frank Miller comic). And even random nudity in the form of a love scene which came out of nowhere, even to me (and I hardly ever analyze films) and a sensuous dance by a beautiful "oracle" before she predicts the future. Oh, and for the guys who want to convince the ladies to watch, just tell them they to see 300 really buff, muscular, totally ripped Spartans wearing little more than a cape and short shorts. :p For the guys who want to get the guys to watch... the Oracle girl is hot. Anyway, this movie is absolutely gorgeous and everything I expected it to be. It's Gladiator meets The Matrix meets Sin City, and after watching it, I'd even throw in a little bit of Lord of the Rings. Now, I will say that is EXTREMELY violent. Lots of graphic gore and blood and decapitation and impalement, so I wouldn't take the kids. But for the guys... WATCH THIS FILM. :D Oh yeah, and we had the director in class, and he pointed out something that I noticed as well. The film is aware of what it is. It doesn't take itself super seriously. It doesn't try to be historically accurate or anything. It operates as the cinematic form of a graphic novel. So there are some things that are intentionally absurd, but done so because it's fun. Like Leonidas casually eating an apple after the Spartans destroyed the first horde of Persians. :D |
Yeah, I am going to go see this in the IMAX in a few days. Can't wait.. I have been psyched about this movie since I saw the trailer.
Going on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!
<font color=goldenrod>Just got home from seeing it, fucking amazing
I really wanna throw a spear at someone right now</font> |

WTF.. our IMAX theatre is retarded. It's not playing there. =(
I would have seen this today, but my plans got interupted. Definately going after work tomorrow.
Holy shit, this is the most amazing movie I have ever seen. Just earned a spot as my favorite movie of all time.
Glad that I'm going to see this tomorrow night. CAN'T WAIT.
This was unbeleivable.
'Cause the way newsboards have been going on about Kurrgan being in this movie, they made it seem like he had a large part in the movie.
He's not at all, but that was definitly him.

Fucking badass movie.
I had two seperate offers to go see this movie tonight and I turned them both down, because I don't really like gory war movies or whatever you want to call them. However, after the night has passed, it appears as if I have made a bad move.

I usually don't like gory war movies or whatever you want to call them either but I saw it and thought it was incredible. |
I am watching it tomorrow. is it historically accurate?
If fucked up troll creatures or whatever existed back in those times, then yes, it is historically accurate.
LOL
The story itself is historically accurate, as is some of the dialogue even. I went to Wikipedia out of curiousity to find out certain thigns about it. Here's an interesting tidbit.. Before its release, critics and previewers hated it.
"At a press screening hours before the premiere, Erik Davis says that the movie was received poorly by critics. "It started shortly after the opening credits; small groups of folks began heading for the door. It got worse when the main villain appeared on screen and all the audience could do was laugh. And, yes, it ended when whatever was left of a packed house booed Zack Snyder's 300 as the end credits scrolled up the screen." "Erik Davis heavily criticised the film, calling it "one of the most overly hyped films in history... a boring, fast-food version of better films, with better scripts, better acting and better battles. 300 men fought to defend their freedom but, in the end, 300 people (including me) wanted their two hours back. Daily Ta Nea newspaper gave "300" zero out of 10." |

IE - I went there looking at info from the various battles. They give more exact numbers to everything too..
It's not out till next week over here, I can't wait for it!
Erik Davis is a fucking moron, along with the rest of the people in that audience.
Yeah, I was surprised that anyone could dislike this movie. They mentioned though that it got a standing ovation from the 1700 people at the premiere the very next day.
Sick movie
Really good movie, crowd was really getting into it and everything.
Can't wait for this one man, also Dominic West = ratings
Went and saw it tonight. Fucking amazing. Going to see it at the IMAX in a couple of days. SO GOOD.
Pretty good. I liked how it ridiculous it was too. Xerxes was crazy as all get up and The Oracle, while quite unnecessarily naked, was a welcome sight as well.
Unnecessary female nakedness is always a welcome sight.
Especially when it is a pretty attracitve redhead. I like naked redheads.
I cant wait for 4:20 pm today. :)
I'm waiting for a decent copy to get uploaded on Demonoid - but...... it's getting awefully hyped on here. I hope it isn't another The Departed.
anyone remember that big guy Xerxes had with two blades for arms who was decapitating the generals? they should have featured him more in the movie.
Saw it, was fucking ridiculous and stupid but still pretty good.

I caught this yesterday. I would have had a review but the site was down most of the day.
Pretty damn good. I came out with a nasty headache with some of the visuals and shit. But awesome. For the 1:15 show I went to. I was lucky to get a good seat. I also caught the new Spider-Man 3 trailer which locked me in to go see it. The entire theatre was laughing when the A.T.H.F trailer hit screens. Pathfinder looks decent. Maybe someone could help me on this. The guy that played the captain. Was that Brad Pitt's right hand man in Troy. He looked pretty damn close. |
Holy shit it made 70 million over the weekend.
Cannot wait to see this btw. |
Damn, havent gotten to seen the ATHF trailer in a theatre.
And yes, 300, was fucking awesome.

Good movie if you dont mind movies with little depth or character development, not to mention story. It's a great pre-game prep rally though for a script.
Also, a third of the film was done in slow motion. And there was no point at all to the slutty, weak wife, and her vapid sex scenes. But when you just wanna see action, then it delivers. So I didnt mind it, thought it was good enough, and it entertained me. |
I just got back from the IMAX theater, and I must say that this movie had sex with my eyes and I orgasmed several times.
Most of that shit was all green screened too. |

No, thanks to a shitty seat.

7087. Hoss Emadi WB - If you decide to use an actual historical figure as a charcter in your movie (in this case Xerxes), then one expects some resemblence of truth (or even half truth) in your work. This movie is totally junk at best and promotes bigotry at worst, That's too bad because I was a big fan of WB. I'll be hard pressed to see another movie coming from your studios.
7086. sanaz baycott .... baycott.... |
These people are ridiculous.
6927. Maryam Atighechi The movie was total propaganda... shame on you WB, to create a movie for the sole purpose of creating hate and racism in others. Your protrayal of Persians was non artistic for cinema purposes but solely and explicitly to hype viewers for persian animosity... it was also plainly stupid, you fooled no one
ROFL |
6899. mohsen ghafari i'm iranian and i don't let the companys to DISTORTION my CIVILIZATION
HAHAHAH
6873. masud alavi racist, misleading and promoting violence , two tumbs down I cant stop laughing. Noone ever said the movie was based exactly off history. |
6831. Ramin Moshiri Are there political motives and hidden agenda's here? Is this part of a new Bush adventure to recklessly take our nation into yet another war with bigger countries than Iraq? That Rumsfield's smaller army can take on the world and continue the slide of our great nation into further demise and economic disaster?
Saw it opening day. Crazy, I loved it. Disappointed that we have no more IMAX's here in Miami anymore, because damn... this movie def screamed out as an IMAX experience to me.
And thanks to the big opening, we may just get a Watchmen movie soon too. Awesome. |
Do they know that 300 is a hollywood movie, and not a documentary. There are things expected to not be accurate, hell ever things that are accurate (Written) may not be accurate as you can't be sure of the authenticity of storys and history that was written and picked apart over several hundred years.
It amazes me how people can take this stuff to heart so much. I didn;t see a petition like this when Medal of Honor was released. Or when The Last Samurai was screened, both of which were historically inaccurate. |
Finally got to see it today. Was fucking awesome. Though the theater I watched it at, the one I work at, fucking sucks, so the sound was fucked througout the movie. It was insanely loud the first two minutes, perfect for about 20 minutes, then bounced between really quiet and decent for the rest of the movie.
Weak. :-\ |
