Will I really want a ps3??
|
Yes?
|
Wait, are you -just- discovering the price of the console or something? As in just now?
 |
I don't. Not until I find someone desperate enough to sell me one for or under $150. And I will.
|
Nope, get a 360 instead. £550 for a console? Fuck right off

Really, the price shit got huge media attention. I'm not getting one anyway. I was, but fuck that shit, I'm getting a 360 in a few months. |
THE PLAYSTATION 3... WILL RETAIL FOR... FIVE-HUNDRED AND NINETY-NINE U.S. DOLLARS
IT'S RIDGE RACER... RIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACERRR |

No get a Wii and a 360 for the same price.
....and remember attack his weak point for massive damage. |

So really, even if you DO buy it for Blu-ray, within five years it will likely be the inferior player anyway. |

yeah apparently I told somebody a few months ago IU wanted one and he preordered and now all of a sudden I owe him 600$? Don't think so.

lol Savior and Jabba.

DVD and the new generation of format are so close together only because of the shift ot high definition, and it's unlikely we'll see another format overtake it any time soon. On the other hand, early adoption of a Sony Video game system strikes me as stupid, with all the flaws in their previous systems. Not to mention backing a new Sony format, when they've been pretty consistantly on the losing side of every format war. This is a really bad time to be lining up for a system. |

Let me check....Yep MGS4 is for PS3 so yes buy one.

Of course, this is all assuming that they did do that. |

I'm hoping it's ported to the 360. |
Hah for that price no fucking way, especially considering my mate can get me a 360 for like £100:-\

Id have to agree KK. Mine has been sitting on a shelf for 2 months now. Helluva way to spend 250 bucks eh. :shifty:

I doubt the players themselves will be outdated, thought doubtless more features will come along for other players. |

Naw,m the PSP's fine, it's just the UMD is a horrible idea, is horribly inferior to existing technology, and is already being wiped out of the market. Almost no movies are coming to UMD, for example. This is mostly Sony's own hubris, but there's also this whole planning thing. You can get a DVD for 20 bucks, or a PSP movie for 20 bucks. Which is the better choice? Yeah. It's an ineffective format with no real room for expansion. The PSP's fine, tough there are less than five games I want for it. |

It'd be quite easy to fill up a 200GB disk with, say, TV seasons or even series.

Who says?

Man can you imagine buying every episode of the Simpsons or NYPD Blue or something else long running on one disc and scratching it?
"yeah by the way seasons 3-9 are glitchy" |
Quote:
In other words, the corporations who like money will doubtless opt for the more profitable step they can get away with. |
Quote:
The biggest problem with scratches is the information is closer to the disc surface, something DVDs moved AWAY from, so if it DOES get scratched (And it still will, no matter what they claim), it'll be more detrimental (Or more likely to be detrimental). So yeah, it'd really suck of whole episodes had data lost. |
I'll get a PS3, MGS4, GT5 and GTA are too good to miss out on. So what if it means working extra hours to pluck the money for it, I guess it'll be a 'well deserved' PS3, Rather than a 'Cant be assed' Xbox 360
Thats just my outlook |

Why should he buy it for the 360 over the PS3?
|
I didn't say he should, I'm just saying that it being on the 360 made that one point moot.
|
But how does it make it moot? If there were a reason to purchase it for the 360 over the PS3 then I can see your point, but I don't understand how, just because it's cross-platform, it isn't a console seller for the PS3.
|

Quote:
The other two are still valid. No one should ever buy a console based on cross-platform games. |

Besides, JJ would probably still buy a PS3 for them even if they were all cross-platform. |

To be honest, what with blu ray, I dont think GTA will be sticking with 360 in a few games time. If it does, then It'll probably just be a 'diet' version of GTA. Sam houser already said about wanting to use Blu ray to the max.
Also, my PS2 is on its last breath, and there are gonna be some PS2 games I wanna come back and play. |
If everything in the two games is the same, it's a moot point because he can play it on either system, so that game itself wouldn't influence his decision.... Unless he wants vibration... Then he'd want a 360... Or maybe if he wants to steer with the controller... But I'm speculating.
ANYWHO.... I'm getting a PS3. |

Also, there is this in the 360's favour: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/29/as...soft-producer/ Better AI and the rumble being used as a big gameplay feature. Quote:

I'd laugh if he only sent the reciept.

Also, that was for Assassin's Creed. Just because the developers say they find it easier, doesn't mean all developers will. And once they work with the Cell, I'm sure they will be matching and exceeding the 360 AI. Just my thoughts on that though. |

The PS3 is a pretty impressive piece of hardware, though that doesn't automatically qualify it for limit breaks. I'm betting by the time this is an issue, the format wars will be long over, and we'll be on the XBox2600 and the PS64. |

It is, however, still a rumour.

Also if anyone gets sick of there PS3 or Xbox360 quickly send them to me along with any games, controllers and memory devices, and I will gladly dispose of them for you.

Quote:
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2006/10/18/...s-well-as-360/ The current rumor is MS paid for exclusive content, then Sony panicked and did the same so each console will now have different *exclusive* content. :| |
Yeah, they will both be different packs but they will both have two and PS3 will have more unlocks for LCS and VCS.
|
Great. Now we're gonna get tardfights over which GTA has better exclusive content.
|
I can feel Microsoft getting even more screwed over with GTA in the future.
|
Screwed how? Sony getting there second a few more times?
|
I mean, GTA released on Xbox a few months after PS2 was fine, but as soon as it becomes an immediate multi platform, and the 360 gets exclusive material, its like Rockstar can't cope and there are problems everywhere.

I second the :| face

I think he needs to lay off the "E."

GET THE "E" OUT

So yes then

Yeah, The price of the PS3 really isn't appealing to me at the moment, I mean 6 Hundred bucks for an system, that seems a little whack, when we were just used to having systems selling for 3 hundred on the last generation at launch, and now doubling that? Seems insane.
Also, the Blu-Ray stuff isn't appealing to me, granted, i'm still leaving in the last generation system with an Tv, that well, has been with me since 1st Grade.. I'm sure HD is great, when I actually deceide to get out of the primitive age of Home Entertainment, and step into an world, where I can see the crabs on an female pornstar pubic hair region roasting marshmellows, and what not.. Plus jesus, just read, X-Men: The Last Stand is rushing to get an Blu-Ray release out, with the price of the dvd being 40 Bucks, jesus...40 Dollars for an movie, that seems an little insane, if it was an season or all three movies, I could understand.. How much are PS3 Games, being priced at? Hell liked to know what the Wil's prices are going to be, since I haven't had time to look it up... Sadly, I will have to get an ps3 at some time, for MGS4 and DMC4 |
Most games for the PS3, if not all, are going for $59.99.
However, Talladega Nights for the blu-ray will the bundled in with it on launch day. And PS3 owners get the movie a month early. Wii games are going for $49.99. |
Before anyone whines about the cost of PS3 games, keep in mind that the cost of video games is one of the few entertainment markets that has not scaled with inflation. Adjusted for inflation, early 80s video games would be about 74 USD in 2006.
Although the cost of the PS3 doesn't scale so well. |
Third party games will cost $59.99 (or cheaper depending on what they want to price at) and first party games will be $49.99. Plus the first party games are going to be the most feature heavy so it's still a good deal.

So do I want the Silver 60GB one or the Black 20GB one. Why will I need so much more space?
|
Wow come to think of it, I am really unprepared when it comes to buying a next-gen system. I haven't done any homework at all.
|
Well, all it comes down to for me is waiting a year or so. By then, I'll be a graduate and probably working some crappy temporary job for like $15/hour till I get a proper job. Since I can live on practically nothing, I'll probably have one whn the price drops... or if 657567965 games I want come out around then.
Been following this pretty closely. |
Just saw a video for Madden 07 on PS3 and it looks exactly like the 360 version.
|
Which doesn't make much of a difference, because sports games are terrible anyway.
