It's Cryme Tyme!
So we got the debut of Cryme Tyme last night. I thought they were great. They're perfect 3 Six Mafia/Lil Jon knock offs, and they can actually wrestle too. Their skit with King Booker and Coachman was the highlight of the show. I can't wait to see what they do next week.
Thoughts? |
I thought Cryme Tyme had an incredible first match. I've always been a fan of big guy / smaller guy teams (Owen Hart & British Bulldog), and they seemed to have a pretty good idea of in-ring mechanics and flow. Shad looks like he could be a monster on his own, if booked right. BUT, that's the absolute LAST thing WWE should do. The last thing the fans need is a premature break-up of yet another tagteam. If WWE Creative doesn't find some way to eff this up, these guys could be the best thing going on Raw REALLY soon.
**My personal highlight of the match: The double vertical suplex into the double neckbreaker  |
Yeah got to agree I liked the look of them, no compliants thus far
|
If they hadn't got the response from the crowd last night, people wouldn't be saying this.
However I agree, due to the fact they got a great crowd reaction from their fellow LA hip hop crowd, they were good. |
The only reason I really liked that segment with Booker, Coach, Sharmell, and Cryme Tyme was Booker's sale of the theft.
|
The only good thing about the King Booker gimmick is the occasional slip where he goes back to being Booker T. :D

I also found it funny when he was talking to the police, giving the description, "Ah, hell, they all look alike to me."
|
I like them but them getting the titles before the Highlanders do is UNACCEPTABLE.
BTW that one nigga is HUGE. |
Cryme time was pretty good, but Booker was better.

No complaints here. I like these guys so far. But I agree with D-Mac. Highlanders got to touch the tag titles first. And maybe build up a fued with them or Cade and Murdoch.
|
Yes, i must admit that i was rooting for them. But i just know that the WWE is going to fuck this up..they always do. Great debut though. Booker should have been given an oscar.
|
They've been cracking me up for weeks. I don't know about their in ring skills, but they're entertaining.

I enjoyed them. They look like they can actually work well in the ring as well as be good characters.
Booker T selling his stolen wallet had me laughing too. God I love him. I just hope the WWE keep pushing the Highlanders too. The Highlanders and Cryme Tyme can probably have some good matches. |
Not a bad debut. It's always nice to see another tag team in the mix. They need to get the belts off the spirit squad real soon.
|
Well they seem to be teasing a mini split with Kenny going nuts.
Maybe if one other drops out they can form a tag team as well. Jesus! I can count the amount of teams on Raw, and I have to use BOTH hands to do it! |
Kenny needs to go solo. He reminds me so much of Owen Hart for some reason. Send Mikey to Smackdown, repackage Johnny and leave the Nicks as a tag team.
|
Also, Cryme Tyme = ratings
|
What about MITCH?

Unless they are at least 1/8th white then they will get nowhere in wrestling.

Ghetto Booker and Cryme Tyme would make the best stable ever. |

Knowing WWE's track record with tag teams, one of these guys will probably be released by the end of the year.

There's no reason for the Highlanders to get the tag belts before Cryme Tyme.
Specifically, WWE has a habit of putting the belts on every new tag team that comes along, and they need to stop that (MnM, Cade and Murdoch, Spirit Squad, etc) If a new tag team pops up, I don't want them to always win tag gold within a few weeks. |
At this point the tag belts have no credibility anyways, so if thats what it takes to get a tag team over then I say do it.
Though I agree it shouldnt have to be that way. In 2000 when the Tag division was stacked, the Hardys hadn't even held the belts yet and they were huge stars. |
Yeah, they need to actually insert some story into the tag division. Have some team (Cryme Tyme) chase down the belts for a good year before getting a reign. The title can even change hands 3 or 4 times amongst other teams, and have it lok like CT is getting passed up and screwed over by Coachman on a regular basis or some shit. Then give them the win at a big 4 PPV in a match with odds stacked against them (injury angle?).
Pretty simple. |
Cryme Tyme is pretty cool, but for the most part they need to get rid of gimmick teams.
At the high point of the tag division there weren't too many gimmick teams, just great tag teams like the dudleys, the hardys, edge and christian, the apa and others. Of course you've got to have your "gimmick" but I dont think they have to be as over the top and gimicky as cheerleaders, highlanders and rednecks. Its too 80's. |
I'm pretty sure Cryme Tyme will grow into their gimmick and be able to have it come off more natural.
Pretty sure the SS is on its last legs and then they'll all be repackaged. The Redneck Wrecking Crew is fine the way they are. It's a gimmick, but it's not like there aren't guys who are actually like that somewhere out there(same as Cryme Tyme). The Highlanders were born in the wrong decade. They're bound to be repackaged or released somewhere down the line. |
Funky Knows
|
Yea its funny, Highlanders today are a crap team. In the late 80's/early 90's they'd prob be one of the most popular things in the company.
|
Of course, if they drop the sheep skins, start cursing up and down while consuming massive amounts of liquor, they could great heels.
|
^ Fuck that. That would make them even better faces!
