Just letting you guys know, I know it's a year off but EB/Gamestop starts doing reserves on this tomorrow. There are three different skus. One is the regular edition which is a $5 dollar minimum, the second is a collect. edition which is a $10 minimum. The final is a Legendary edition which is going to come in a master chief helmet that opens containing four disc, it's a $25 deposit.

A collectors edition I can understand, but a fucking master chief helmet? come the fuck on. I will personally laugh at everyone that buys that one. Fucking retarded.

Do you need to play Halo, and Halo 2 to really know what the hell is going on in 3? I was going to buy Halo 2 but I didn't play the first one so I didn't know if I could get 2,.

tomorrow? i put down a preorder the day i got Gears at Gamestop.

Halo 2 has all the expositional dialogue you need to get the jist of the story; but just like I'd tell you to play Mario 64 when Sunshine is out, play the 1st Halo for the experience alone.

Don't play the first Halo if you plan on playing 2 or even 3. Then you will realize how crappy of a game Halo 2 is and how crappy Halo 3 is going to be.

DS is being irrational, Combat Evolved and Part 2 are decent games, you can do no wrong in either purchase.

Especially if you like silly things like SOLID MULTIPLAYER. I don't have to warn you about cheaters on Halo 2's Live play, but even that's avoidable if you chill with your buds online. Halo 1's multiplayer isn't as fleshed out as far as options go but for what it does you probably won't find a better 16plyr CTF engine.

What I was saying that if you play the first Halo, a good game, you will, most likely, be disappointed in what they did with the multiplayer in Halo 2. And it seems like they are continuing to kill their multiplayer with Halo 3. Hardly irrational. Just don't believe the hype because they are really just your basic FPS.

Halo is nothing more than the typical space-army shooter games. I personally think the online is overrated, but I hate getting my ass kicked by 10 year olds and then they talk shit to you and then 30 year olds start talking shit to you.

yeah freakin' impossible to play online just for fun. You either get murdered by cheaters or NERDS who play like 20 hours a day. :(

Halo 2 online, ill admit ive gotten very aggitated, it raised my blood pressure, but there is nothing like getting 3 other buds in your party and just jumping from game to game. Halo 2 is fun, once you stop and realize that its just a game and there i no reason to cuss at the TV. People get too caught up in 'ranks' and what not, if you just relax and say 'meh, its only a rank, and people cheat, thats what happens' then youll have a good time. Like my stable mate Cowlicks said, the best way to play Halo on Live is in a group with 3 other buddies.

The only thing Halo 2 did sort of right was the matchmaking, everything else about the Halo games that people think is so amazing has been done on the PC way before. If Huxley turns out as good as planned, it will stomp Halo 3.

Should I spend $200-$400+ to get my PC to play games that did what Halo did "way before", and do it again to keep up with these games every so often; or do I get a console and play the same games without worrying about upgrades?

With exception of a few new weapons and camera features, it looks like it plays exactly the same.

I don't care what it looks like... the new features are a Godsend. These guys at Bungie are more gameplay oriented than alot of developers out there. They talk about things that needed to be addressed.

Who gives a fuck about new features when the gameplay sucked in Halo 2? Features aren't going to stop the game from feeling and playing shitty.

Huxley is an MMO. Odds are people who play Halo won't give a shit about it, and vice versa. Can't really compare games of a completely different genre.

I had a blast in 1, but I will always stand by my words when I say that Halo 2 was a steaming pile of dog shit. Will pretty much hate Halo 3 in an instant if they used the same physics engine.

I had fun with Halo 1 and 2, but I mostly agree with this. Compared to Halo 1, Halo 2 was horrid. I'm seriously hoping 3 redeems it.

I only find Halo 2 enjoyable when I'm playing with friends. That is the only reason I am debating getting Halo 3. The jump from Halo to Halo 2 was good for graphics but pretty terrible multiplayer wise.

I take back what I said earlier this year about halo just being another game, I love it.

I stand by what I said, Halo is the most overrated game(s) of all fucking time.

Anybody hear how long Halo 3 is supposed to be. If it's going to be another game I can knock out in a weekend, I'm not gonna bother getting it.

I play Halo for multiplayer. I imagine Halo 3 will be longer anyway since it was a complaint from part 2.

Gears of war is over rated but it's still one of the best shooters out. And has an amazing co-op story

I thought the beta was supposed to open today, and I was curious so I popped Crackdown in, but it seems to still be unavailable.

People have been whining all day because they've been dieing to play. They are saying 10 PM Eastern.

Played 2 games of the beta, got 1st place in both. It feels exactly like halo 2, just a new GUI and a couple new weapons. The Spartan Laser is deadly if you can aim it (got a sweet double kill with one.)

It's just a beta I know, but the graphics and animations looked exactly the same to me as Halo 2 did. But, I won't hold that against the game when it's still in beta.

If you enjoyed Halo 2 you probably already preordered this, but yeah, it has retained all the qualities that the 2nd one had, whether that's good or bad is up to you.

If anyone wants to play sometime, I'm down.

I really didnt care for Halo 2..thought the story sucked...and the thing I hated about the multiplayer is that I was always paired in a game with the jackass always yelling "HA HA HA I SHIT ON YOU"....

The one thing I really love about the new one is that you can finally shut those people up. I dont mind the trash talking but its just those guys that are always doing something to piss everyone off...

I love the new spike grenades...I get tons of kills with those and they are my favorite new weapon....

Basically its the same graphics as Halo 2 (Bungie has confirmed that the graphics will be tweaked a little better in the final version...and a hell of a lot more in the single player)

Weapons are a little more powerful..there is a new spike grenade which I am just in love with. (Kicks major ass if you can attach it to someone...other than that it will just do a little bit of damage)

You can pick up equipment in the game to use during battle like a jump lift (which shoots you in the air)...a power drainer (which drains anyones power that is near it) and the bubble shield (no one can kill you while you are in the shield unless they walk inside to do it)

I have heard there is three levels in the beta but Ive only played at 2...a bunker type place that im pretty good at during sometimes...and then a snow place which I am really bad at.

Graphics are amazing I think.
Gameplay is more or less the same, but still it is 'mazin'.

I just dropped $20 for this baby. And with it little over a month away, let's recap.

-It drops September 25th.
-There'll be three editions; the standard, and two expensive types for rich losers.
-It supports 4player co-op over XBox Live or System Link (very nice).
-A new mode called Forge lets you play God in a multiplayer match.
-Lockout is back (with a new name and look).
-The Energy Sword has a limited use now (thank you).
-There's a Gravity Hammer that knocks grenades away (interesting).
-There'll be a file-sharing service of sorts for saved replays and map edits.

I had no prob with Halo 2 so I'll be loving this game.

I finally picked up the first halo. Got through the first level, started the second. Not overly impressed so far. Goldeneye for N64 is better.

Halo 2 went by way to fast. I'll wait till I hear reviews and if it's long enough to not be able to be beat in 2-3 days.

For the record; I'm buying Halo for multiplayer. I play the story mode when I don't have anyone to play with at the time.

How in god's name is goldeneye better? I mean GE was amazing for it's time, don't get me wrong but the first Halo(while still overrated) blows away Goldeneye. Only thing goldeneye has over halo, is that there are too many areas in the the single player campaign of halo, where you go room to room, and any difference from the last is subtle.

That said, the better graphics, vehicle use, and A.I. top goldeneye. Especially the A.I. Enemies flnk you, take cover, and even retreat. What do they do in goldeneye? Oh yeah, they make a two foot sidestep at stroke victim speed.

I've seen the "goldeneye > halo" comment made a few times now by halo haters, and it makes no sense to me. Despite my rant, I'm not a fanboy. In fact I believe halo is probly the most overrated franchise in videogame history. But worse than goldeneye? Well thats just retarded.

I got Halo for the multiplayer when I was in my first year of uni. Basically since we were on campus we could have massive battles with my mates over the network, which was awesome because there was never any lag at all.

But I got hooked to the single player soon after and about 5 months later I completed the game on legendary :D

Unless you play MLG rules, which restricts radar in most types. Honestly can't stand playing with radar after playing MLG gametypes for so long.

I don't really care one way or another, TBH. I just came in here to see how many people were like "Halo 2 sucked but OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG this is gonna be awesome."

I can go with or without Radar. It's my suggestion to learn how to play on both terms. And the new radar jamming device in Halo 3 would be useless if no one had Radar to begin with, and I personally like the added layer of strategy (Crouch Walk, keeping proximity, etc).

I was thinking of getting a 360 Elite for a few games on the original Xbox (I'm stupid enough to have no clue if it has backwards compatability with Xbox 1 games or not), but this was not one of them. Personally, I don't know what is the huge deal with the Halo thing (multiplayer, I know, but I like to do the single player, too).

Personally, I think Halo 3 is going to be good and won't make the hype in vain, but there's alot of competition now that Bungie needs to consider if people want to choose one game over the other.

I would love to see what reviews of the game will be.

It's not out to redefine FPS' or anything. The Saved Films will be awesome though. I don't think I'll be messing with Forge too much. This game will have insane replay value, it will be played heavily for the remainder of this console cycle if Halo 1 and 2 is any indication. And I'm not a sucker for hype, we were having Halo LAN parties before Halo was cool, back when it was a that weird PC-ported shooter that came with the Xbox Bundle. Now every release in the series is some sort've holiday. I don't mind, but posers are annoying. Then these very posers bitch and nag about how Halo wasn't what they thought it was or how they get creamed by better players and the game blows because of just that.

Plain and simple: Read the damn reviews on the past two Halo games, or try them out even. If it doesn't sound like what you want, don't even try it. If it doesn't play like what you want, make no future purchase in the game series. I'll tell you right now Halo 3 is essentially Halo Uncut, as Bungie as stated the new features were actually cut features from the last games on any number of occasion. The single player is what they wanted the first single player to be, and the multiplayer is what they wanted part two's multiplayer to be. Other than that; if you didn't like Halo in the past, you will not be turned by Halo 3.

It's just a damn FPS. Like how Rock Band is a music game and Zelda TP is an Action RPG. Whether they mean more to you is based on what you're looking for in a videogame. Forget hype, do some research, be an educated consumer. I wouldn't drop $60 over 'fantastic ads'.

And no I'm not taking shots at you, darkpower, I was just reminded of an old debate and I thought I'd reiterate my feelings.

Halo parties were tits. Used to go to multiple friends houses for huge Halo parties. One friend used to have 16-man games almost every day. He was also ranked 13th in the world at Halo 1. He's played with the Ogre brothers, Zios, and a ton of other top players. He's the reason I actually like Halo 2 a lot now, because he helped me get a lot better at it. His team (FtG) has two people who play/used to play at the big MLG tourneys yearly. One is Foxy, who people might recognize if they follow the MLG circuit at all. She's crazy good at it. The other is mightBwhite, who no longer plays at MLG but is a veritable god at the game.

I can't wait for Halo 3 to come out. Been watching videos non-stop this past week and I'm wanting it more and more every day.

I delivered a bulk stop to EB last week, 68 packages. The guy there said they were boxes of Halo 3. 600 copies. All fucking pre orders. All sold. People are crazy for this game.

Out of all those people i'm sure a few of them will become dissapointed and turn in the game early.

Gotta be honest. I got terribly bored of the first Halo pretty fast. Beat the first 3 levels and have almost no desire to continue on.

Halo isn't popular because of the single player. Halo is popular because of its multiplayer, as well as its easy to use matchmaking system. Halo 1 was tits because of Halo parties. That was how it got started. Halo 2 was pretty shitty compared to 1, but they had a great matchmaking system that made it easy to jump into. I have faith that Halo 3 will bring back the intense feeling that matches in Halo 1 gave.

Anybody got their copy yet? There are a bunch of stores that are breaking the release date just like they did with Bioshock. There's a list somewhere with cities/stores doing it. Need to check to see if anything around here is.

My store had done over 1200 reserves before I left the company 3 months ago. It was unreal. It broke down to like 300 legendary, 600 collectors and 400 regular.
